Troy Rehabilitation & Improvement Program

This organization offers various programs for home owners in Troy, including landlord training and classes on home maintenance. I attended several classes on electrical systems (how to change outlets and light fixtures) and how to repair dry wall. Both classes were informative and gave me more confidence to go forward with my projects and enough sense to know when to call a professional.
I would like to see TRIP offer tenant training in addition to landlord training; a class to inform renters what their rights are (such as the right that the rental unit conform to the warranty of habitability, etc). This would be an assets to the people who rent from the slum lords and have a right to blow the whistle on landlords who refuse to fix code violations without fear of losing their homes.
