It’s really hard to find a good mechanic place you can trust. Well I found one. John’s Midas did an outstanding job on my daughters truck. New exhaust system. Looks and sounds amazing!
They do all sorts of work to any car or truck. I’ll definitely bring them more business.

Take your car somewhere else, anywhere else. I took my car here to get the timing belt changed, and they ended up screwing up my engine and had for over two weeks. When I got it back, a sway bar link (I think is what he called it) was broken, and had to get that fixed too. Best of all, they only wanted to give me $ 30 a day for the additional rental car fees I incurred, even though THEY are the only reason I needed a rental car for 2+ weeks…
My engine light came on a few months later, and the poor service and huge screw ups on my last visit at Tuffy made me wary of their competency when it comes to auto repair. I decided to get a second opinion at Autolab in Madison Heights. He pointed out to me that he didn’t think Tuffy performed the repairs correctly, and that mechanic certification numbers were not present on any of my invoices. He recommended that I get the Secretary of State involved.
Upon contacting the SOS, they decided to do their own investigation into the matter. They revealed to me that one of the two mechanics that worked to fix my engine was NOT certified in engine repair, which is unacceptable. The repairs had to be performed again under the watchful eye of a SOS master mechanic (apparently that’s a thing?).
I wrote this because I know it’s hard to find a mechanic that you trust, especially when you know nothing about cars (like myself). This was one place that I decided to give a try, but I can honestly say that if you’re looking for an auto repair shop you can trust, you should omit this one from your search.
FYI, I take my cars to Autolab in Madison heights now. His original recommendation to get the state involved made me confident that he runs his business with honesty and, more importantly, within state regulations.

This place is amazing. The customer service is top notch, they are doing it right! I had a hole in my exhaust and these guys were nothing but professional, speedy and kind. I had gone to a few other shops and received quotes. Tuffy’s gave me a cheaper quote, were very honest with the problem and explained everything that needed to be done clearly. Anytime I hear «car trouble, broken etc.» I now say go to Tuffy tire & auto on maple road. Keep up the great work gentlemen you more than earned this review. Thank you for great service.

I’ve gone here twice, and after my fantastic expericences here, I will not take my cars anywhere else. Both times I was given a time estimation, and both times, the car was indeed ready within that window. (First time, they said about an hour. It was ready in 54 minutes. The second time I was told 1 hour, possibly as long as 1.5 hours. It took 1 hour and 2 minutes.) Their waiting area is as nice as any doctor’s waiting room — maybe even nicer (because it’s quiet, and they have a couple of computers you can use, or watch tv if you want,.) They are trustworthy, and knowledgable, and I love that they are HONEST!!! My only negative about them is that they are located about 8 miles from my home. But, it is well worth the drive!!!

These guys were great. I am always a little leery about taking my car to new shops to be worked on, but I needed a new muffler, and bad. I explained the problem and where the sound seemed to be coming from on my car over the phone, he told me what he thought it might be (and he was right) and how much it would be. They even had a coupon available on their website. My appointment was for 4pm, and my car was ready by 4:45 — everyone was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely go back myself and recommend them to others!

Great dealership! Upfront and honest. They really helped me out, even though my vehicle broke down in another state. These are the kinds of guys you always want to buy a car from. From the service manager to the owner, they are all in and making the choices they should every step of the way!
