Our customers are the finest area restaurants, coffee shops and gourmet food markets as well as coffee aficionados that brew our delicious coffee at home and work.

History

Established in 2013.

Shearwater Organic Coffee Roasters started roasting the area’s finest certified organic and fair-​trade coffee beans in September of 2013. The founder and head roaster, Ed Freedman, has been home roasting coffee beans for the better part of three decades. Ed’s passion for roasting high quality organic coffee led to launching Shearwater in Trumbull, CT. during 2013. Ed is committed to a highly sustainable business operation and in 2015 received the Morris Media Green Award.

Business Owner

Ed is founder, owner and head-​roaster for Shearwater Organic Coffee Roasters. He is dedicating his life’s passion to establishing a premium coffee brand that Fairfield County and surrounding CT and New York counties can be proud of to call their own. Ed has over three decades of roasting knowledge that is being applied at Shearwater to consistently produce delicious coffee. Ed also has a formal background in the Information Technology industry and has worked for both national and global companies. Ed charitable efforts help support Wholesome Wave, AmeriCares, Shelter for the Homeless, Community Plates and the Robert Irvine Foundation.
