History
Established in 1945.
CARO-Mi Lodge was established in 1945 at Highway 25 and Greenville Street outside of Saluda, NC. The original owners, the Mehaffeys, opened CARO-Mi Lodge during the months of June, July, and August, and worked the remainder of the year for the Florida East Coast Railroad in Miami, FL. Hence, the name «CARO-Mi» comes from the words «Carolina» and «Miami.».
The restaurant was relocated to the Pacolet Valley outside Tryon, NC in 1957 and the Mehaffeys retired in 1963. Since then the restaurant has changed ownership three times. The Stafford family has owned and operated the restaurant since 1990. We strive for each and every guest to have an enjoyable and memorable experience and leave with all their hunger needs fully satisfied. We invite you to enjoy Mother nature’s ambiance of the Pacolet River while relaxing in a rocking chair on our covered porch.
