Gunnar Olson – State Farm Insurance Agent

I should start off by saying that Gunner is not my State Farm Insurance agent, however that did not stop his team from helping me when I needed assistance with a State Farm related issue. My agent is located in another city and after moving to Portland I found myself having some trouble submitting some documents to the main State Farm Processing Center. One of the State Farm Representatives at the corporate office suggested that I locate a nearby agent and get their assistance with uploading some documents to their system. I walked into Gunners office having never met been there before, however they immediately went to work helping me even them doing so in no way benefited them. The gentleman was so helpful and courteous and made a rather frustrating situation so much better. I know that this office specializes in life insurance, so I highly recommend that anyone looking for life insurance check out this agency simply based upon my positive experience!

Update: if I could give this agent zero stars, I would.
After the first mishap I had back in 2014, the agent apologized several times and convinced me to stay with them as my agent. They sorted out my policy issue and we moved on.
In the spring of 2015 I purchased a condo, so I contacted Gunnar Olson to have my previous renter’s policy cancelled and a new condo policy initiated. In summary, it’s been almost a full year since I bought my condo and not once has Gunnar Olson had my condo policy accurate. First I was double billed for a renters and condo policy. Then the condo policy was cancelled instead of the renter’s policy. Then it was reinstated, but somehow wasn’t showing up in my online account. I heard several excuses blaming ex-​employees, blaming a change in office locations, and blaming IT issues. Not once did someone take responsibility for dropping the ball and leaving me completely unsure of my coverage at any given point in time. All I heard was a load of excuses and empty promises. It took these people 9 months to get my policy straightened out, which to me is simply unacceptable.
This ultimately led me to contact the nearest Allstate agent and switch all of my policies away from State Farm (and now I am saving $ 95 per month!). Do not use this agent unless you want sub-​par customer service, countless frustrated phone calls, and zero confidence in your policies.

Gunnar Olson’s office has always gone above and beyond for me. They’re approachable and really know their stuff. Any time I’ve moved or purchased a car they’ve been efficient in getting me my insurance cards and new coverage. How they really stand out is helping plan for the future. Gunnar is great at breaking down how life insurance works, and helping me understand how I should be financially preparing for a family (and eventually retirement!) They also just opened their new amazing Portland office in addition to Tualatin! I couldn’t give Gunnar and his team a higher recommendation.

This review is more about State Farm Insurance. but also Gunner Olsen’s Agency.
After sending in a payment to my agent’s office and waiting a few days I noticed the money was still in the bank. So I called The Olson Agency and asked if they got the check. They had and then told me they had put the check through and it was NSF. I was looking at my acct. on my cell phone and the money was in my acct. I asked if they could put my check through again and the rep. told me they could NOT put the check through again. I asked if they could take a Debit payment, she said yes and took and processed the payment. It went through.
The next morning I checked my acct at the bank and saw the Check they said they could not run through again, was run and Overdrew my bank acct and a $ 35.00 fee was assessed.
Once again I called the Olson Agency this time to get my money back. The rep told me she would have STATE FARM send me a check right away. 5 days later I called again because NO CHECK. The rep told me she would call and find out what happened. She said the request was denied. I explained that they had just cost me another Extended Overdraft fee of $ 35.00.I asked that she recontact them and tell them i WANT MY MONEY BACK. SHE CALLED ME BACK THE NEXT DAY AND TOLD ME THEY (State Farm) was going to credit my bank acct. 5 days later still no money.
a check I had written to pay a debt to a friend went through and Bounced costing me another overdraft fee $ 35.00 NOW TOTAL UP TO $ 105.00 at my bank and I feel the need to pay my friends overdraft fee of $ 35.00 NOW $ 140.00 total fees.
AGAIN I called the Olson Agency, The rep said she would call State Farm and see what they were doing. I explained all the problems I was having at the bank and that I needed the money back in the bank by ⁶⁄₁₈ yesterday. The rep called me back and told me her boss Mr. Olson had spoken to the corporate thieves, and they were going to credit my bank card. THIRD TIME I WAS TOLD THIS. Check my acct this morning and guess what NO MONEY.
I have been with STATE FARM INS. for over 25 years. I have recommended many of my friends get quotes from them. NEVER AGAIN.
I do believe the Rep and Mr Olson have done all they could, STATE FARM is holding my money and destroying my bank acct, and it cost them a ton of BAD WILL. and at least one customer.
