Stinks like a 20 year old ashtray and the food is horrible. Illegal poker in the corner and drug dealers in and out the front door. Be carful to and from the car.

A little bar open late. It’s in a shopping center parking lot on the corner. Pretty cool to have a drink or 2 with friends. Very casual. Keep it simple.

Yes, I like this place. My friends and I have been coming here regularly once a week or once every two weeks for a couple of years. Yes, it is a dive bar. If you are into ambiance or cocktails with little umbrellas, then this place is not for you. This is a type of place cowboys would have frequented if we were in the wild west. It’s a bar, a real bar for real people who dont care about superficial things. If you want fancy food, go find bars in midtown. Beers and whiskeys. And good company.

Zero stars. Avoid at all costs! I was dragged here last night with a group of friends because one of them knew the guys working the place. It was surprisingly empty for a Saturday night. There was just the one bartender so I can understand how service could be a bit slow even with the fairly small number of customers in there that night, but this was atrocious. The couple of people who were drinking heavily seemed to get fairly decent service, but the rest of us may as well have not existed. There were even times when the bartender was not actively helping anyone and we tried to wave him down and he still kept on ignoring us. When I finally did get my overpriced food, I had requested that one thing(bacon) be omitted, and they apparently just decided to leave off a few other ingredients that were listed on the menu, so my food ended up tasting like cardboard. What cheapskates. Even after all of this, I may have given 1 or 2 stars since a couple of my friends were having fun. However, this morning my friend checked his account and realized that his card had been overcharged. Looking at past reviews I now feel certain that this was done intentionally. STAYAWAY! These people are crooks.

I’ve been here and few times and enjoyed it. However, last night, I tipped in cash after paying with my credit card and realized this morning that my card had been charged three times for an amount that had another 20% tip added to it. We had already tipped over 20%(since we are in the service industry, we always tip well), so whoever swiped our card was engineering a 40% tip(as well as charging us 2 more times than they should have). If you don’t feel like dealing with something like this, I would steer clear. Otherwise, it’s an okay bar. Everyone seems to know each other and is friendly(until it’s time to pay, I guess).

This is basically a dive bar in a not-so-safe area(lot of gang activity around here and other establishments in the shopping center have been robbed occasionally). Not a bad place, but definitely not a place to leave stuff lying around. I’ve had a phone stolen once a couple years ago. They usually have one bartender working the entire place, so service might be a little slow(especially if you’re not ordering alcohol — just a tip), but they will eventually get to you and all in all, they do a pretty decent job since they wait on the entire bar by themselves. Food is hit and miss. I’d stay away from the fried stuff(only good thing I’ve had that is fried is the fried fish). They usually have daily specials and most of those are good, and the fried rice is always good. That’s usually what I order when I’m there. They have poker several nights a week(Atlanta Poker Club, which is the best poker league in Atlanta, plays there Sundays, Thursdays and Saturdays). I used to be the Tournament Director about 5 years ago and it’s a fun and sometimes rowdy crowd. It’s a good place to hang out with friends and drink, play poker and check out the sports on their big screen TVs. It’s a great place for smokers. If you’re a non-smoker like me, you probably wouldn’t enjoy it there if cigarette smoke bothers you… I’m a poker addict, so I usually play there and tough it out with the smoke. Word to the wise: don’t ever piss off the owner, the short Korean woman. If you’re kicked out, you’ll never be allowed back in. She might not look like it, but that woman has a sharp mind and, like the Mafia, never forgets anything.

Yes. as many have said. «A hole in the wall», «Dive» of all Dive Bars! But, if you like a fun friendly poker game with the Atlanta Poker Club, this is a fun place. I can’t say it is safe. I can’t say it is pretty. I can’t say it is classy. As for the music– It has a juke box that can play really GREAT music pop or classic rock. Or, someone may choose to torture you with yodelling, HeeHaw, acid rock, rap or who knows what music. You never know! If you like Keno– it’s here– I’ve heard of some that win. But, I haven’t. As for food– DON’T order the typical bar food– or that’s what you will get – horrible. Order the specials– Country Fried Steak, potatoes, turnip greens or the shrimp fried rice is awesome! The hamburgers aren’t too bad. But, stay away from the fried wings, or other fryer foods – yuck! Service is fast and friendly! PS — Don’t wear your nicest jewelry – or leave your purse laying around. Just sayin’ It isn’t the best place to go – but if you live in the area – it’s your type of bar!

This place is a hole in the wall… But the bartenders are good and they have a very good cook/chef in the kitchen. Their specials are usually the way to go… or the fried rice — really. There’s poker there three times a week with the Atlanta Poker Club. If the owner bans you, you are banned for life. Seriously, that woman forgets nothing. It gets pretty sketchy later at night… with some sketchy activity that happens there… just remember that you were warned.

If you’re looking for just a bar to sit down, drink, and get out, then let me suggest the Wooden Nickel. Casually located, this pub has all the feelings of «leave quickly». The service was unexpectedly friendly and fast. However, the food met all the expectations of a average bar. The wings were small enough to get eaten whole by a pigeon and the fries were thick enough to severely injure someone, if projected. The drinks were cold, as they should be. You get what you pay for…

OK, so I’m a little embarassed to admit I like this place, because if you were to look up the term«dive bar» in the dictionary, it would say«Please visit the Wooden Nickel Pub» for some more information. All joking aside, the drinks are mixed well, beer is cold, bartenders are nice and they have some of the best wings in Atlanta. It’s a bit smoky at time, so if you can deal with that, it’s worth a try.

I like to go to karaōke here on Saturday nights. The staff is nice. It looks like a hole in the wall, but it’s actually alright.

Decent food, cheap prices and a friendly staff. I like this place, though it is a little far from home, and their draft beer selection is pretty anemic. The Wooden Nickel hosts poker games on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday which is why I have been making the trek out to this place. If you’re in the area, give it a shot. Sure, its not shiny or new, but what is, in this part of town?
