Too sad to missed out this year. Here for the gem show every year and also to enjoy the selection of wines and desserts with friends and co-workers. Now there’s nothing really good in Tucson to enjoy for pleasure.

I have people from out of town visit me for purposes of work and send them over for lunch or dinner quite often. It never disappoints. I personally enjoy their Nicoise salad, they really know how to sear tuna. It is a trifle expensive. They’re closing soon so hit it fast!

The atmosphere of this place was nice and lead me to expect a great meal(though I would suggests some doors at night to separate the restaurant from the store). I went with the prix fix to really see what restaurant had to offer. The lentil soup was good. I really enjoyed it. However the wine pairing was a terrible choice and almost undrinkable. The main course was really disappointing. Talapia over rice and tomatoes. Ok, I can cook this dish better. Canned costco tomatoes with half cut olives over the fish and rice. The wine also was just a not a compliment. I believe it was even a blush. I am sorry, but no respecting wine establishments pairs that with a meal as the blush is typically left for beginner wine drinkers. Desert was ok, but way too big. The port was ok, but weight to strong and needs to breath for a while to be a decent pair. The venue is nice and the servers were nice enough, but the chef really needs to step up his game and the sommelier for the venue needs to spend some time reworking their wine choices

We had a very nice Pinot and meal. The ambiance was alright(though a bird poop’d on me as we were walking in. The service was fine, though they all didn’t seem like seasoned servers and it was awkward at times. Our main complaint was the garden salad. It was just some greens and olive oil. It was very underwhelming to say the least. I’m not sure if we will return. It was just okay.

Having been to many O wine bars, I was overall not impressed. We went on monday night because there is no corkage. We were a group of 8 and each of us bought a bottle. My # 1 complaint, not a single petite sirah on the single glass menu or in the wine shop, huge bummer. I expect for a business that claims to have a super selection of fine wines to have most if not all varietals. Petites are not as common but defiantly not that hard to come by. I also expect more than one knowledgeable person to help select the exact pallet you are looking for. The gentleman in the wine shop heard what I wanted and $ 45.00 later I was at the table with a mid to heavy bodied dry red. Thank god somebody at the table liked it and we switched, another bummer. # 2 complaint, the price range on bottles. Most of the domestics were over $ 50.00. I have had many wines under $ 25.00 that only set an example for the more pricey wines to follow. Bottom line they need a bigger selection, and not of $ 100.00 bottles. Another thing was that the $ 100.00 bottles were on the top shelf, normal, but closest to the lights. The set up of the wine shop is not conducive to preserving quality. I know I don’t expose my high end wines to light. #3 complaint, the food. I am a talent in the kitchen so I am a tuff judge but I think the cook was trained to cook, not a natural cook. The escargot was mediocre, it was tender but the sauce killed it. The 4 cheese plate, well nothing to exotic and can we say overpriced $ 16 for 8 pieces of cheese, never again. The caprese salad had no flavor at all. The balsamic reduction was hardly there. The cheese was dead, the only thing I could hardly taste was the pesto. Also the portions are tiny, They are probably weight watchers ideal but for the money I say gimme more, I was left hungry. For the prices the place should be a bit more swanky as well, it was just your run of the mill nice place, nothing that stood out to make this place original. For Tucson it is nice but I just expected more. The best of the night was a $ 20 bottle, Tobin James old vine zin, F-in delicious, all the jam a girl could ever dream of. If I go back it will be by invite only and I will not eat.

Average but overpriced menu and boring atmosphere don’t give me much of a reason to return.

Visiting Tucson for the jewelry show with my friend Jenny, who happens to be a wine representative(aka: wine snob, jk), her friends told us we needed to stop by 58 Degrees, so we did. Our feet were throbbing, having walked for more than 8 hours, and we were pretty thirsty and hungry. We enjoyed some extremely wonderful and unique wines by the glass and equally enjoyable appetizers. The service was great and the wine shop held its own as well.

We went for dinner and some good wine and were thoroughly pleased. We had the bruschetta for an appetizer and it was fantastic. I had the Seared Ahi and it was cooked perfectly. Overall the service was good. It took a little while to get the bruschetta out, but everything on it was really fresh, so I overlooked that. Plus, I enjoyed sitting there and tasting the wine. They do have two TV’s in there, which I find odd. Especially since they aren’t really near the actual bar. One is in the corner of the dining area and I didn’t really like it. However, the sound was off, so that was a plus. Overall, it was a great dinner and I would go back.

Another one of my favorite late night places to grab a bite. It’s pretty hip, or so they try to be. However they have quite the nice selection of wine and other fine boozes and the bar menu is rather tasty. It can be a bit pricey, but I’d rather be there than some of the other late night restaurants. Be prepared to run into the usual Tucson foodies.

A pleasant surprise. Sometimes you get tired of margaritas and beer, and when you do go to 58 degrees for a pretty good selection of wine. Furthermore, they have tasty appetizers to complement the wines. We did not try dinner. The wait staff is young and they do a pretty good job of helping neophytes, but if you are a wine snob just play along… and no one gets hurt. Also, they make a mean Hendricks Martini… hold the ice!

Cool wine bar, very hidden though. They have really good crème brûlée. They have two TVs, and the TVs sound was playing over the speakers(no music, etc) which was a little irritating. Also it was really almost empty which was kind of weird. But it’s a cool place if you like wine or crème brûlée I guess. A little bright inside.
