This review goes out to stylist Francisco Olivares-​Policky :-) Been going to him for 7 years and never disappointed! I get compliments every other day on my cut by many people even after a month of my last visit :-) I was impressed yesterday hearing someone tell me it has simple, sexy look! Since I moved to Tucson over a year ago, I have been getting my haircut from Aija. I have never been to a Salon that I look forward going to. Aija not only cuts your hair perfectly but also never lets you have a boring time! Over the year I have become good friends with Aija and it is amazing that a great haircut to a new tucsonian turned into a great friendship. I recommend Ahead of Style to ALL my friends and acquaintances.

After crying for about an hour after coming home I wanted to share my experience for others. I’m not sure if some stylist just aren’t good with curly hair but my hair cut was absolutely butchered! I came in today with hair a few inches from my butt. I have been growing it for about 5 years. I asked for layers just at my breasts and left with it a little longer then at my shoulders. My hair is uneven by at least an inch maybe more from left to right as you can see in the photo and short about 8 inches of what I asked. This is so unbelievable to me, I have never been picky about my hair cuts and this is the first time I have ever been disappointed to the point of tears. Im a little at fault as I should have known when he couldn’t find his shears and used a razor instead. Usually my sister in Gilbert can fix it and I wouldn’t be too worried but she can’t put inches on so, To the owner: please don’t call me, I’m not interested in getting my $ 20 dollars back or a free condition I just want others to be aware.

I haven’t had a real haircut in almost a year so I thought it was time and based on the reviews here, I made a last minute hair cut appointment with Melissa.
Now my hair was due for a haircut because I had done so much damage from coloring and using flat irons and we decided on long layers, face framing layers and side swept bangs and cut off at least 2 inches off the length. I also mentioned not to use the thinning shears so much bc the last stylist that did went crazy with it and didn’t use it at all. Mind you, I have thick hair and I thought everything was fine and when she blow dried my hair it
Seemed fine, my hair is naturally poofy so I didn’t expect anything special with my blowout. My hair felt much better with a lot of the split ends gone… etc…so I went home and decided to straighten it and when I showed my husband, he was really upset bc he said my hair was all uneven and he usually never notices what I have done to my hair!!!
Ehh I was Happy with most of the damage being cut off and it honestly seemed ok but the more I look at it, the more I started to dislike what I have. The hair stylist and the lady at the reception area was nice, the price was reasonable and even let me bring my son with me, but maybe my type of hair wasn’t her strong suit. I’m upset even though it’s just hair. Needless to say I won’t be back or recommend this place based on what happened to me.
I wish I could get my money back. I’d would rather deal with my hair all crunchy and splitting then come back. Such a shame bc this location had promising reviews.

What a beautiful place filled with some beautiful people! It’s not just about the hair here. Ajia gave me the warmest greeting when I arrived and while I was waiting, another stylist greeted me with the same warmth as if we had been friends for years. Ajia gave me a fabulous scalp massage, blended my layers perfectly and touched up my bangs, giving my hair exactly what it needed. I am from out of town and would recommend to anyone local or just passing through to visit this affordable, professional and fun salon. Thank you!

Ajia got me in at the last minute and even came in to open up the salon for me… she was phenomenal! Along with the sweetest personality, Ajia cut/​colored my hair beautifully while giving me all kinds of great styling tips. This will definitely be my go-​to salon while I live here.

After too many horrible haircuts from «high end» salons, I have refused to get my hair cut for the past 3 years. My ends were to the point where nothing would save them and I have to admit I was skeptical that anyone, (even the places with good reviews) could give me a good haircut. I decided to try A Head of style. I have long hair and I just wanted a simple trim with some long layers. Ajia did just that. It is done perfectly! I will definitely come back here for my next haircut.

I just moved up here from my little home town where the same person has been doing my hair for as long as I can remember. After awhile the stylist just wasn’t doing what I wanted but I was a loyal customer so going to Ahead of Style was very nerve wrecking! But was I in for a surprise! Aija (the owner) made me feel absolutely fabulous and explained everything she was doing it before just chopping my hair away. My hair was in dyer need of a redo and Black Cat fixed that RIGHT UP! The atmosphere is amazing and makes you feel awesome! Definitely found my hair stylist for the years to come!

Cute, little hidden gem with cheap haircuts that don’t leave you feeling a little dead inside (Style America, I’m looking at you)! I’ve only had my hair cut here, no nails or make-​up, but just by the hair cuts alone I’m a fan. If you’re looking for a recommendation, I say to book with Chris Jackson at this salon, you won’t be disappointed :)

Trying a new salon and stylist is always a little nerve wracking. But I am so glad I trusted Unilocal and went to ahead of style. My stylist Kevin was wonderful. He took the time understand exactly what I wanted and did an amazing job with my highlights. I have received a number of compliment on the cut and I will most definitely be back to see Kevin again!

It’s time for me to get a haircut again and I’ll be going back here again. I think this’ll be my 5^th time since moving to Tucson? Anyway, Ajia is awesome. Friendly, funny, and I always like the haircut I get. Ajia even tried something I hadn’t done before, and now I get it that way every time. I also like that It doesn’t feel that you’re pushed to buy extra things. Ajia suggested one great product that I ended up buying and I love it, but I never feel like they’re just trying to sell me extra stuff. Great place to get a haircut!

This place is super fly, styling, down home, down to earth and fun. Don’t expect modern. expect good people and great service. I live in California, but they made me feel local.
The pedicure was so amazing. The quality of touch and the products used were exquisite… i highly reccomend you try it out. The stylist made time to come in late for me because i got off work so late (7pm) NICE! I couldn’t find that anywhere else in Tucson.
Also, the salon is owned by an incredible being who has been making people look good for twenty years! So don’t worry about newbies doing your do. This stylist gave me my first pixie cut in highschool (literally) and now she’s owning her own… cool right?

I just arrived in Tucson, after having my own best friend as a hair dresser in Portland, OR. I already had been to Gloss Studio, but was not impressed by either the expertise or the price. Then I tried the «Black Cat» at A Head of Style.
WOW! She not only has the expertise & the price, but she also had the patience to put up with me, usually a very difficult and particular nit-​picky person. I mean, I look at every strand of hair and comment on it. I was trying a different color, with a difficult twist of striping that only my best friend knew how to do.
After about 3 hours of trial and error (error on my part of communicating what I wanted, not on her part), my hair actually came out better than even my best friend had ever done! Black Cat was SOOOO patient with me; she patiently fixed anything right then and there if there was even a tiny complaint, and spent extra time trying to please me at no extra charge. And the results were fantastic!
If you want a vogue hair style done CORRECTLY, then you must try Black Cat. She obviously has the expertise to fashion any type of hairdo, and I am a white pasty faced ‘elderly’ lady from Oregon.
I have never written to Unilocal before about a hair dresser, but this gal is just so good I have to give her my whole hearted recommendation and endorsement. If you are in need of a fantastic new hairdo, or need a new hairdresser, and, want an expert in color & hair treatment — go to Black Cat.
Black Cat is my new forever hair dresser, and is worth every penny.

Matthew was terrific! As a mom I am pressed for time and he was kind enough to squeeze me in late. He did a great job and was very professional. I’m really happy with my cut. He was also extremely nice and easy to talk to. I will definitely be going back.

I love this sallon! it’s very comfortable and you’re made at home the moment you walk in the door! The owner is always mingling with the customers in between do hair her self! Great prices at great quality.

Easily 5 starts for the haircut! I donated my hair again, 12 inches this time, and let Alejandro do whatever he thought would look good with what was left. It turned out great!
The customer service is fantastic. I had booked my appointment over 2 months ago planning on donating it right after my brother’s wedding. Due to travel delays, Aija wasn’t going to be able to make my appointment so she called her stylists and got someone else to take the appointment so I didn’t have to reschedule, especially since I had been planning and looking forward to this for months.
It was tricky to find the place, I’m pretty new to Tucson, and parking was difficult, but worth it for the cute cut.

Matthew is the best for color. He does balayage to get the perfect blonde highlights to my dark blonde hair. He always knows exactly the look I’m talking about and does a great job making it look natural.

Amazing. The best hair cut a guy can get. I’m really particular (friends use the word diva) about my hair. I won’t step foot in a SuperCuts at all. Ajia and A head of style is a godsend. They treat you with the respect. A great haircut and delicious cookies in the lobby. It’s a great deal too!
