Alice-Rae Intimate Apparel

I mostly go there for post-​mastectomy bras. The first time I was there about 2 years ago shortly after my double mastectomy, they were amazingly considerate and professional in the fitting of me for the prostheses and bras. It is not an easy thing to go through, but they are super sensitive when working with a person who needs this service. I recommend it to anybody having to go through this. So far all my bra’s have been covered by my insurance and the prostheses are covered every 2 years. It is a full service salon and they have many beautiful things there from jewelry on up to lingerie and even some clothes. Great for new brides, also.

I took a little trip to Alice-​Rae today. The ladies there are so nice. They don’t try to up-​sale you (or stuff you into a bra that doesn’t actually fit properly) so that’s really nice. I purchased one nursing bra. My little is due next Friday!
I’m taking the two that I got from Motherhood back. I don’t think they fit correctly and after trying (and buying) the one from Alice-​Rae, I now know that nursing bras can be comfy. I have really big breasts (and my milk hasn’t come in yet, I don’t think) so comfort is a really big deal to me… as well as fit.

I love that they specialize in post-​mastectomy lingerie, but nothing can really excuse the way my mom and I were treated when we came in here a few weeks ago. Staying in the hotel across the street, we had a couple of hours before dinner and stopped in to look for peignoirs. My wedding isn’t until August, so it was a very casual stopping-​in, mostly just to see what they had.
Apparently this kind of casual shopping is unacceptable. We walked in and when we were asked what we were looking for, we said we were looking for a peignoir but mostly just had some extra time and felt like stopping in. The woman working there said, «What a luxury! Do neither of you work? I just can’t imagine what that’s like! Don’t you have something you need to be doing? Most people these days don’t just have ‘spare time’ to ‘kill’!» On and on, until we felt so uncomfortable we had to leave!

I have been in this store twice now (and will be many more times to come!) and both times we have been treated like friends. We were measured the first time and bras were suggested for my daughter and myself that we mght like. Many bras later (we’re picky — and endowed!), we had the perfect bras. Went back the second time to get more of the same bras. The women who work there are personable and helpful and made us feel like valuable customers that they are glad to see and hope to see back. The bras are really good and you can’t get customer service like this anywhere anymore. I highly recommend them!
(FYI: The ONLY reason I didn’t make this a five star is that the bras are on the expensive side. And while they are worth it, I don’t always have the money.)

I am an in between band size with larger sized breasts. V Secret and others just don’t cut it for me. Makes it hard for me to find bras that I feel pretty in. The lady who measured and fit me took the time to personalize my bra search and make sure I found the bra that I needed (or three! whoops!) But seriously they are the three best bras that I have ever owned. I will take a star off for the service by the check out lady. Seemed kinda peeved that I had a Groupon and that I questioned the cost of one of the bras. I don’t usually say this, but I seriously thought: smile B****, I am the customer!
I will be back!

I was excited to find out Tucson has a small business for undergarments (silly me, it’s Tucson, we have a small business for everything!) with the bonus that it carries unusual sizes, so I stopped in this weekend. The sales lady offered to do a fitting and with her help — she was super friendly and attentive — I learned I’ve been wearing the wrong size and found something for working out and for every day in the correct size.
If you’re an odd size like me, I would definitely start here and see if it works — the selection isn’t enormous, but it works. Or if you’ve never been fitted before, stop in, they’ll be glad to help you in a friendly and non-​judgmental way.

The women that work here are phenomenal. Without getting too personal I will say that I finally found what I was looking for… and it fits! ;) The selection is decent and they don’t have a problem ordering what your looking for. Just be patient, they are the little guys and it might take a while but I have not doubt that they will find it for you.
