Always Open & Shut Garage Door

I was visiting my son in Tucson and his garage door would not stay down. He had to work so I called Open and Shut on Friday morning and requested a new opener be installed. Shannon was very polite courteous and helpful. She said they were all booked up but talked to a technician who said he would fit us in at the end of the work day. He arrived right on schedule and was soon joined by another technician. They were both very professional and efficient. They quickly had the old opener out and the new one installed and the garage door lubed and adjusted. They cleaned up well even on such a hot day. The new opener and door work perfectly. The price I was charged was very competitive. The following business day I received a call from Michelle (also very polite and courteous on the phone) of Always Open and Shut to ask if I was satisfied with the job. My son and I are very satisfied customers.

A friend referred me to Always open & shut for some work I needed done on my garage door. I’m thankful that I took his advise. The technician they sent out was outstanding. A few simple adjustments, that I would never have known how to do on my own, now my door sounds better than it ever has. I will be recommending this company to my friends and family. Thank you.

I a absolutely love the service I received from this company. They put in garage storage racks and fixed all of my garage door opener’s. I was so impressed I had them install a keyless entry at my moms house. Their prices are extremely reasonable and I would never go any place else I would recommend this to all my friends.

I was looking for «rusted metals» garage doors. Contacted a few dealers but decided to use Open and Shut.
They installed the doors. A week later i noticed a problem with the doors. Open and Shut immediately came out and repaired the problem.
They are reliable, friendly and competitively priced. I would recommend them.

Existing door not closing properly – adjusted track and sprayed rollers – $ 65.
Same door, rollers coming off track – all new rollers – $ 90.
Same door not closing properly – adjusted sensors – $ 40. Reason for problem – track being moved (see above). Reason for the third charge is that we were out of warranty – by 6 days. Amount was reduced because there is no warranty – my choice because why would I use this company again?
All very frustrating, especially being a return customer after having another opener replaced.

I have not ever had the need to call for garage door help. I am only renting the house. the spring is broken. the service agent could not sent anyone out for a week. I think the garage door repair business must be something to look into!!! I will continue this after the service call.

Friday I called and spoke with Shannon who took my information and gave me the price for a service call $ 65. I told her the door was a Commercial Roll up Glidermatic unit equipped with a receiver by Lift Master. I also explained it had been intermittent operation for over a year and seemed to be temperature affected. She scheduled Tuesday 4 August between 1 and 3pm. I gave her my telephone numbers, name and address. I gave her all the information about the unit.
4 August Dave came and tested my Glidermatic Commercial Door Operator. His first opinion was to replace the remotes, but changed his mind. Then he said it was a printed circuit board problem. Even with a new remote from his truck it was operating only part time. He also mentioned that he had never worked on such a unit. So now my Gliderol Model GIND-​7USA controller needed a replacement printed circuit board. After writing a check for the service fee of $ 65 he said they would be getting back with me tomorrow 5 August with a solution. The next day I waited all day, hearing nothing, I decided to call to find what they had found. On the internet I had received a quote from England for a replacement board in English Pounds on my research. With the exchange rate it was about $ 230 including shipping. I shared all this info and sent it all to the owner via her e mail address. As of 5pm I have not heard anything except saying I could order the pc board myself! Wow, I just paid $ 65 to hear the pc board by their opinion needed replacement I could order myself?
8−6−15 Thursday, 10:20AM, so far no contact or calls from Open And Shut Garage Door LLC about what they intend to do if anything about fixing my garage door! The owner finally called about 4pm and explained they are still working on a solution. 7 August 15, so far I feel the $ 65 service fee has bought me nothing in the way of service. I decided to find out where they operated from. They told me they had an office at 4500 E. Speedway suit 95. According to Machelle who I found there, the business is operated out of a house, and this location is just a place where they store things. Machelle handed me the phone with Shannon on the other end. The owner Shannon told me 8 August that she and her husband are on a big installation job, a higher priority job than mine out of town, and that she will return Monday. I told her then that they had all the information on what model and make my garage door was, if they didn’t want to work on it, then why did they agree to come out? 8−10−15 Monday, I have heard nothing so far about what if anything they plan to do to fix my garage door. At 9:30AM I get a call from the owner Shannon and she tells me they plan to do nothing, so they are going to return my check for $ 65. I guess they felt they didn’t do anything either! Beware of this no service! I did get the check back no letter or comments.
Update 8−21−15, today I received a new Liftmaster receiver from the net for less than $ 50. I installed it and it solved my intermittent garage door problems. In both cases Dave from Always Open & Shut was wrong. I didn’t need a controller pc board nor did I need new remotes! The problem was a bad relay on the Liftmaster receiver! If I could give them zero stars I would!

I have a rental property in Vail and my Tennant had repeated issues with our Wayne Dalton iDrive door not closing. After having a very poor 2-​month experience with Wayne Dalton repair scheduling arrive and a replacement quote I gave up and went the tried and true route… a trip to Lowes… never let me down before. After picking out the opener I scheduled the installation. I liked the name of the subcontractor, always open and shut… just what I needed to make my Tennant happy. Despite the install cost being equal to the cost of the opener. Whatever, just needed my saga to end.
The Lowes sales person surprised me with their candor and warned me that unless I took the opener with me that Open and Shut would charge a $ 70 pickup fee, which even the sales person thought was ridiculous. That should have been my first warning. The next step of the process as I was told is that they would schedule an inspection of the job to make sure there were no surprises. Also I could either remove my old opener or have them do it for another $ 70. Great! Well, there was a surprise, a $ 70 trip charge because my site was not ready… a shelf needed to be raised (4 simple bolts) and my old opener was not removed. So much for the inspection. I refused to pay it which involved about 5 phone calls and raised the shelf myself but chose to have them remove the old opener as I wasn’t sure what needed to remain (springs, etc.) and did not want my Tennant to be without a partially functional door. No more surprises, that’s all I wanted.
The last disappointment was the schedule was delayed because they only have one guy who knows how to remove an iDrive. So it was far from smooth and full of surprise up charges but it’s finally done. As best I can tell it was a good install… or my Tennant does not want a I open another can of worms by complaining.
If Wayne Dalton wasn’t so bad I would have rated AOAS even lower. They are certainly not the best but not the worst either. Be ware of the many $ 70 up charge opportunities!!!

We use this company quite often to maintain our rental Properties. They are very good at fixing garage doors and we have never had a complaint from any of our residents.
If you need your garage door fixed these guys will get the job done!

My garage door opener broke and I don’t know the first thing about fixing them, nor could I do it myself. So I was happy to have someone come out and fix the problem, and they did it quickly. The repairman also lubricated the whole system and now my garage door opener is MUCH quieter than it was before. I didn’t realize how much extra noise it was making — it was like that when I moved in.
My sole problem is that the appointment time was «between 2 and 4pm» and he showed up at 4:15. However, he was done very quickly.

I had a broken spring and cables on my garage door — no emergency, but it needed to be fixed. Based upon Unilocal ratings, I called Always Open & Shut for an estimate. They were able to quote a price over the phone for the repair, and also for a replacement option. I appreciated the transparency over the phone.
Just to be sure, they sent Ruben out to check out the door to see what it would take for a repair — I figured they’d just verify things and would return for the repair on another day. Instead, Ruben ran back to the office to get the unusual cables required for my 8′ tall door, then returned to make the repairs. This guy was amazing — very skilled, very professional, and just a great guy. He was very quick but also thorough — testing the safety features, lubing the hinges, rollers, and screw drive.
I was very pleased with the service, from office staff through the install, and would not hesitate to recommend the company to friends and family.

I read the reviews on Unilocal (Hooray for Unilocal!) looking for a reasonable repair for my garage door opener. The dispatcher gave me an 8 – 10 window and the tech arrived at 8:10. I got an estimate seemed reasonable ($ 100) to replace a broken gear and service the unit. I was off to work within 10 minutes. I came home to a perfectly functioning garage door.

First, I was pleased that the technician, Yoel, arrived within the 2-​hour scheduled window. I commend Yoel for being a good listener as I described how the door was malfunctioning. Yoel also talked to me the whole visit, answering all of my questions to my satisfaction. Yoel swiftly earned my trust with his friendly, professional demeanor.
He was forthright with his recommendations and cost, but never overbearing about my decision to have him do the work. Because Yoel demonstrated to me what was needed to have a properly functioning garage door, I decided to let him do the work.
It was apparent to me that Yoel is an experienced technician, but where he excels is customer satisfaction. In my opinion, Always Open & Shut Garage Doors has a valuable asset in Yoel. No we are not related!

A pleasure to work with. They give you two hour windows for their appointments and always arrive within that time frame. The initial evaluation was efficient and they knew what the problem with our garage door was right away. The part was ordered and installed the next business day. The technician Dave was very courteous and repaired the sensor which our tenant had dismantled (the problem was with the spring, not the sensor). He also helped me set up my remote opener and replaced a lightbulb. All in all a great experience and I would highly recommend them!

This is probably an extreme case of excellent timing, but I have to say that I’m impressed. I called on Monday to have someone come out for an estimate for repair/​replacement. That happened on Tuesday. Installation was scheduled for 9am Wednesday morning. The installer (Ruben) was timely and courteous. He was complete in just 3 hours. The price was much less than a co-​worker who went with another company in the last 3 months and the service was fantastic.

A couple of years ago I was in a hurry to get to work. Such a hurry I forgot to open the garage door before I tried to back out of it… Long story short I really did a number on the door. I bent two panels and the track. Not enough to render the garage completely useless but enough to bruise my ego of being a professional garage door opener and closer. Thankfully I had a roll of duck tape which managed to keep the garage opening and closing for a couple of years, and most importantly acted as a hurt ego bandaid. The other day the door finally had enough and my professional tape job was deemed a failure. Devastated.
With no other alternative I looked at Unilocal for repair service. After reading all the reviews and the 5 star rating I decided to go with Always Open & Shut. William the repair man sent out was EXTREMELY professional and a pleasure to work with. One look at my tape job and he knew he was obviously dealing with a professional. Not really.
He quoted me great prices and told me what my best options were. I can now proudly say I have a fully functional garage door again! I would recommend this company to anyone who needs a repair. They were fast, professional, and affordable. Also they won’t make fun of the excessive amount of tape used to hold everything together before their heroic arrival.
One more shout out to William. The hinges used on my door from the factory were not available. He provided new hinges (better quality) for no charge because it was an unexpected circumstance. We need more Williams in the world, needless to say.
If I ever encounter any problems again, due on my part or otherwise, I will definitely use Always Open & Shut again. There really isn’t a better choice.

This is the second time I have had Always Open & Shut Garage Doors come out to my house to look at my garage. Both times I was very pleased with the work that was done. Whenever I call, they are very quick to respond and the prices are unbeatable. Yoel has been my service technician and I would highly recommend his work. He is very knowledgeable, punctual, prepared, he gets the job done and he is easy to talk to. Its a real plus in my book to not only get great service, but if the staff is friendly and accommodating, it makes the whole experience that much better.

Since we have an «insurance contract» with American Home Shield, they contacted this company for us when our sensor light needed a replacement. This is a company, though, that we would certainly contact ourselves or recommend to anyone we know. The service was prompt, the service tech made a suggestion that will increase the life of our aging garage door, and the price was quite reasonable.
We highly recommend Always Open and Shut!
