Ben on the Side Plumbing

Well, I wish I could rate them based on their work. Unfortunately, I can only rate them on their (lack of) professionalism when it comes to making a commitment to do an estimate. Initial call went well, I thought. Explained what needed to be done, chatted a bit more about it and then was told that they could come out between 3 – 5 pm that day to do a free estimate. Gave them the location info, my number, and instructions on how to get into the back yard where the work was to be done (just through a gate). And that was it. Heard nothing else. No call to say they couldn’t make it or that an emergency cropped up. Nothing.
They may do great work IF they get to your place. But I wouldn’t know since they didn’t show.
NOTE: This review is extremely similar to another review of mine for another plumbing service. That’s intentional. I had the same experience with both. Set up appointments for estimates with both. Neither showed or called.

Ben Alvarez is an independent Plumber with one or two associates. He is nice, smart and capable. I got him from an established plumbing store and once I heard he did work for the owner, I felt he had to be good… and he is. We were selling our house and I had a bidet that needed to be repaired. Another plumber felt it would cost hundreds and suggested just buying a new one– at a cost of thousands?! I called the plumbing store and they suggested Ben and mentioned he was familiar with bidets. He came and the bidet was clogged with calcium deposits which he removed. He spent time checking it repeatedly and then sealed the bidet to the floor as it was loose. The cost of service was $ 85.00. Ben is a straight shooter… very nice and competent I was very pleased. He does not have a web site so note phone number.
