Just say NO!!! We retired to Tucson from Seattle 3 years ago and picked the wrong pool guy for our renovation!!!
Grant started working on our pool in early November of 2015. He told us it would take 3 weeks… We are coming up on 6 months and our entire yard is in shambles, and we still don’t have a functioning pool or spa. No plaster or deck coating.
Deceptive practices is the kindest way I can describe what he does. He has been using another pool company’s ROC # without their permission, so be sure to check his number by going on to the Arizona State ROC web site. Unfortunately, I did not check it and am paying the price. If this happened to you, contact the local ROC office. They have been very helpful.
If he gives you any prices for work, get them in writing, or they will increase. They may anyway.
His equipment installation includes multiple code infractions and safety-​related electrical issues, as recently confirmed by two LICENSED pool contractors. Grant and his installers do not have an adequate understanding of code requirements. Steer clear!

One star because no stars is not an option. Nothing but problems from these guys lately topped off by unresponsiveness when we try to contact them.
We left our home in the hands of a house sitter when we went back east for a few weeks. A week after we were gone the pool goes green. They tried to blame the monsoons. Took over a week to get that cleaned up. Came home from our trip to find the timer was set for continuous running of the filter. Looking over the papers they leave I noticed that they skipped the last week. The filter was over pressured and in dire need of a back flush. Once I received my electric bill it would not surprise me to find out the pump was running ever since we left.
Today after the pool was «serviced» I went outside and noticed the pool level was low. Upon further investigation the pump was manually turned on with the back flush valve open. We lost about 8 inches of water out of our pool today.
When we call to complain we were told someone will be right our. An hour later we can only get the answering service and Grant will not answer his phone.
There are too many other companies in town to put up with this poor service.

We have a vacation home in Tucson. Recently, the swimming pool and spa lights stopped working.. I found Cabana Boy Pool Works ad on the internet. I sent them an email and the next day got a phone call from Grant. I gave Grant my address because he stated he wanted to go out to look at the problem so he was able to give an accurate estimate. .Later that morning Grant called me. He said the cost of repairs would be $ 450.00. I told him he could do the job if he could do it for $ 450, maximum.
One week later, I got an invoice for $ 615 with a note that he had made a mistake on the estimate. I feel that at a bare minimum, I should have received a phone call to advise me of the significant additional cost in excess of the quoted price of repair. I phoned Grant but did not receive an adequate explanation for why he would not have at least phoned me prior to significantly exceeding the $ 450 in repairs that he estimated and I authorized as a maximum.
I feel there are trust issues with this merchant. I will not use them again.

Was referred to Grant and his network of free agents by our realtor for a pre-​purchase inspection. He got ~$ 1,000 of repairs from the seller, and still there were problems with the pool. The motor was screeching — bearings or shaft worn-​out. And more. Just sent him this note below. There are a LOT of pool service companies in this area, I have full confidence that I will find one much better than these guys. Beware.

Upon reflection we’re going to choose not to do business with you. Your pre-​purchase inspection of the pool at my house proved to be really incomplete, missing numerous problems with the pool including the failing pump, the other worn-​out popups, the poor condition of the plaster, and the pressure relief that was cited in the inspection report was never repaired. You also referred to excessive pressure in the filter, in the pre-​purchase inspection report and to me, suggesting that it indicated clogging of the filters, so I paid $ 446 for replacement filters only to see identical pressure (and decent filters that didn’t need replacement).
I’m also unhappy with your markup on parts — telling me a replacement pump was $ 800, then $ 650 when I balked, when the pump is commonly sold for $ 240. Likewise with the popups — you told me $ 80 each to my face, but I bought 6 for $ 45 ea yesterday at Patio Pools. $ 446 for filters that I see for sale for $ 325. I don’t mind a reasonable markup along the lines of 20% over retail for the convenience, but this is egregious.
Not going to do business with you Grant. Don’t feel like I can trust you, your work is not very good, and you’re not professional. Payment for the balance of your invoice will be in the mail tomorrow. Do not come on my property again without my prior permission.
