My primary care physician circa 2012 recommended that I book an appointment with Dr. Abhay Sanan for Nerve pain in my back. saying that he was good and «kind of an academic «. My primary cares staff called and booked with the wrong Dr; Sanan in a different specialty. I tried to correct the error
myself by calling Center for Neurosciences directly to make my appointment.
The appointment desk at Center for Neurosciences told me that «Dr Sanan makes his own
appointment schedule «and gave me another number to call. After many calls and messages I finally received a call from someone who identified herself as his medical secretary ???
I made the appointment for a month in advance. Two weeks later I needed to call and reschedule. I called several times but she never returned my call.
I think we as the medical consuming public need to report these type of episodes in hopes that today and tomorrows physicians learn to respect us as healthcare consumers.
The hubris and the arrogance in the medical community of this city are remarkable.

Experience as always been. Timely device and friendly staff. Doctors are very knowledgeable.

I would probably give my overall experience a 1 star rating, but the front staff had improved reception and Dr Chase and his technicians are very efficient. Since posting my first review 9 months ago, I had a diagnostic procedure to see if I was a candidate for cervical facet radio frequency neurotomy (basically burning the nerves in my neck that cause pain) with Dr Richard Chase in July. For the diagnostic, you are injected in the facet joints with a nerve block medication, you are given a symptom paper to record every hour for 5 hours afterwards of how your pain relief feels and you return with that paper at a follow up appointment. My results were positive without complication, so we scheduled appointments for August 31^st and September 1^st (he enters the vertebral column through the sides of the neck, thus needing 2 separate appointments) I had this procedure performed in my lower back 5 years ago by my orthopedic specialist on the east coast and had zero complications with complete pain relief (have not had any back pain since) so I anticipated the same results for my neck. Dr Chase did not provide any paperwork to take home for aftercare instructions, so when I developed a severe muscle spasm in my neck on September 2^nd I was completely caught off guard. I was literally laid up for a week, unable to hold my head upright, extreme pain, could not do anything but lay in bed, if I needed to go to the bathroom, it was agonizing to get up. I had to hold my head up with my hands because my neck could not support its weight. I didn’t bother to call their office because with my medical experience background, I knew what would happen. I don’t recommend anyone to follow my personal aftercare treatment, this I did only because I will only seek physician care as my last resort. After researching possible complications of this procedure I found that it is «rare» to have this complication occur, nevertheless, I believe that any competent physician would provide the patient with paperwork. My personal home treatment consisted of an old Rx of muscle relaxers (Flexeril .25 MG every 6 hours), Tylenol/​Motrin/​migraine headache medication, continued ice pack (bag of frozen peas) applications and just «ride out the storm.» Today, I still have some numbness of the treatment area, difficulty tilting my head forward due to still having pain and weakness in the neck (not so severe as it was the first few weeks) I do however regret having this procedure, it has not relieved my chronic neck pain, it has only exacerbated it. I will not return to TCFNS again, I will definitely research doctors and facilities extensively before making an appointment. I know that TCFNS reads these Unilocal and it doesn’t matter, they will always have patients to provide their paychecks, as the population growth in Tucson continues to explode and make it more difficult for the medical community to provide outstanding or just plain old good patient care.

I had to wait several weeks for an appointment. The doctor, Dr Jyotsna Sahni, was to treat my insomnia cause by a neurapathy problem. She appears to want to deal only w/​the RLS part of it. She’s given my 2 different prescriptions: 1 gave me terrible nightmares & the other did nothing. I can’t even call & leave a msg w/​her assistant… the center insists you email your doctor. Well, I’ve done that previously & was ignored. The only redeeming quality of the whole place — it’s a lovely drive up there.

After waiting for months for an appointment, I finally saw Dr. Song. Dr. Song did not read my intake form or address any of my concerns about medicine interactions. The next day I came back for two nerve conductivity tests. The technician who ran the first one was prompt, courteous, and took time to explain what he was testing and how. I then waited for almost two hours for Dr. Song, who arrived, looked at the results of the first test, declared I didn’t need the second test, and brushed me off when I expressed concerns about the prescription she had written and its interaction with other prescriptions.
When I left I asked for the contact information of the operations manager to leave a complaint. I left voicemail. This was over a month ago in July. Last week I called and was assured that the operations manager would get back to me within 48 hours to speak to me about my complaint. I called at 7:40 am this morning and was assured by the voicemail message of the operations manager that she would get back to me promptly.
In short, long waits, inconsiderate doctors, doctors who do not take patient concerns seriously, and operations staff who do not wish to hear patient complaints.
Take your time and money to the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale. Even with the drive time, you’ll probably be seen a lot faster than you would at the Center for Neurosciences.

I don’t think the CEO is doing his job with respect to reading through all the myriad of reviews about the Center for Neurosciences; or he is ignoring them. I agree with any individual who wrote a negative review of this place, and especially of Dr Monica Chacon. Arrogant, elitist, indifferent, dismissive, and cavalier about the pain and frustration of others,…does not hold to the center’s Mission Statement. and seems to have forgotten the primary tenant of the Hippocratic Oath… FIRST DO NO HARM. Do not see this so-​called neurologist; waste of money and time, and you WILL leave angry! Still waiting for an MRI to be scheduled for my grandson who is experiencing headaches… his appointment was 12/17/14…and it it 1÷12÷15 today. Steer clear of this place… professionalism is non-​existent! I have written reviews on 4 other sites and a full letter to the CEO… with NO response yet.

We have met some outstandingly qualified neurologists over the past 30 months since our grandson’s severe TBI, but we would not place this doctor anywhere near the high end of that exceptional list. We have seen severe shortfalls in critical areas of operation at the ‘Center For Neurosciences’. Examples range from being ignored or put off for days attempting to get a follow-​up appointment for an existing patient (again, coping with a severe TBI, seizures, etc) during a significant seizure episode and resulting recovery setback; to being told by the answering service on a weekend that the on-​call doctor will accept no calls for help with an emergency prescription refill for an anti-​seizure medication required on an ongoing basis by that patient… despite the fact that the pharmacy had contacted, without reply, the doctor’s staff 6 days and 4 days prior (since that prescription is a controlled substance, the pharmacy can’t just give you a few without a doctor’s prescription). This practice’s answering service, and more importantly the medical practice itself, appeared to have no concern about the patient’s greatly increased seizure exposure without that drug and actually embedded that ambivalence in their business policies, through a blanket ‘no drug refill inquiries on weekends’ built into their policies. Their advice was just go to an urgent care center or emergency room… essentially ‘let someone else deal with it, it’s the weekend.’ From our perspective, we feel, given this overall attitude, that had our family had to depend on Dr Teeple and his associates at the time of our grandson’s injury, rather than some outstanding care by resident neurologists and a fantastic visiting neurologist at Flagstaff Medical Center, we seriously doubt he would have made the progress he has to this point. This practice did the cosmetic closing up work (set a plate in place that had been designed by the folks at FMC) upon our grandson’s return to Tucson, supplied some basic textbook advice, anti-​seizure pharmaceuticals, and prescribed standard recovery therapy. If our experiences with this practice sound acceptable to you, go for it… if not, you may want to look elsewhere. By the way, our urgent prescription refill problem was resolved by going through our grandson’s primary care doctor, someone who readily answered our weekend call to respond to his patient’s critical needs… thank God for good PCP’s.

Have had three visits to this place. if you are on time for your appt. the wait in line to check in will make you LATE, then they give your appt to someone else and count you as a no-​show.
the dr then took 2 hours to see me… and refused to do the appt then. because i was upset about having to wait so long. my day was ruined… the Dr. said she wasnt even sorry for this. I was truly amazed that a clinic such as this could be so very rude and unprofessional. I recommend NOT going there if you get a referral, try to find some other Nuerology clinic. avoid this one!

After several counselors and medical doctors, we were relieved to have a glimmer of hope. Dr. Chacon, Center for Neurosciences, Tucson, AZ, made short work of that. Within the first five minutes, she announced she could not help. Having jumped to the conclusion our son just wanted drugs, she stated that while not a psychiatrist, it was her diagnosis that he had an oppositioal defiance disorder. Note that she made this decision in a vacuum. When we were explaining why we made the appointment, she interrupted with her decision. She not only didn’t ask questions to clarify, she was also not interested in letting him or us speak. Instead of helping, she lectured on the dangers of drug use as though we were uneducated and enabling.
15 minutes and $ 375.00 later, all we were was discouraged. I waited about 3 months to write this review to ensure I didn’t write it emotionally. Since that time, we did find help. Dr. Monica Chacon was so far off base. I wouldn’t recommend her to anyone, ever.

After 4 years of endless doctors telling me I’m crazy and implying I’m just a teenager looking for opiate painkillers, I was referred to this neuro-​center. I had previously seen both a neurologist and spine surgeon who both said «we’ll see you in a year!» simply trying to throw aside a patient in need of answers. after having to switch providers because of insurance, I stumbled across The Center for Neurosciences. Here, I met Dr. Mindy Song my current neurologist, which after my first consultation had me feeling very safe in her hands, prescribed a cervical/​thoracic spine MRI which a week later found 6 cancerous cysts 2 cm in diameter in my spinal canal. devastating news to a 19 year old kid by himself! After meeting a neurosurgeon and explaining my options and everything there is to know about having a Chiari Malformation, and the disease Syringomyelia, we are planning ahead for both surgeries. This place has saved my life drastically.
