Century Gateway 12 Theatre

i love this theater. it’s older, which is why they have older run movies, but it’s kept well cleaned, they have a full concession bar, and the staff is really friendly. Tuesday their prices are even cheaper! I love popping by in the middle of the week. This past Wed afternoon I was the only person in the theater — it was like my own private screening :-)

Movie theater is an older one that has been turned into a cheap theater for older movies. The theaters are not set in a modern stadium seating. It is the older style with the doors in the back which makes it a bit awkward to get up and go to the bathroom or get refills for concessions. The theater tickets are cheap however the concessions are still the same price. You would think that they would come down a little bit. However the staff is really nice. We accidentally spilled our popcorn and they managers helped clean it up and then topped off our popcorn which I thought was very nice of them.

This is an inexpensive theater but has new seating. There’s lots of easy parking. The theater is clean and the staff is friendly. I give it two thumbs up.

Seriously I love this theater! You can go on Tuesdays for 1.50 and something like 3.50 on other days. It is the «cheap theater». This is where they show you movies that have been out for a while. And WOW. I cannot believe this is the cheap theater. It is so nice! The screens are big, the sound and lighting and chairs and everything is just what it should be: comfortable, clean, and nice. I have been to many cheap theaters in my life and this is by far the best. I just wish it was closer to me! The Oracle cheap theater is closer to me, but by a long shot, this one is better. If it was closer I would go to movies all the time!
Another plus, everyone there is friendly and the parking lot is huge. If this is close to you and you like movies, you should be here!

When I was growing up on the East side of Tucson, Century Gateway 12 was the best theater in the area. Then they built the theater at El Con, then at Park Place, and this one fell into the «discount theater» category. Considering that, it’s remarkably clean and well-​kept.
The one glaring problem I had was the volume was much too loud. Perhaps as a discount theater, they’re hoping to appease people with some hearing loss. Certainly any of their regular customers should expect to experience it. Next time, I’ll be sure to bring a pair of ear plugs. My ears were ringing for hours after the show.
I don’t go to the theater very often any more, because I don’t like paying $ 13 to be crammed into packed seating, between the guy on his phone and the guy with a nasty cough. Those aren’t big issues here: a 3D evening show cost me less than $ 4 and the seats stay mostly empty, because these are movies that most theater-​goers have already seen.
I was happy to see that this establishment has replaced its old ‘80s/‘90s-style seats. I’m not sure if they’ve replaced them in the entire building, or only in some of the theaters, but it was a nice upgrade. They have higher backs with head rests, they are slightly reclined, and the arm rests are optional. They only thing they’re missing are stadium seats.

Can’t beat an impulse trip to the movies on a Friday night for a family of five under twenty bucks it’s hard to complain. We seen Let’s be cops pretty funny. Standard prices on the snacks but one of my favorite go to spots when it’s family night and we don’t want to break the bank.

I’ve always loved the cheapies– you get the same experience but for a fraction of the price, so this theater is perfect! (And one of the last few ones left now that the cheapies at Grant & Swan is gone… booo…)
The interior is lovely with pillars in the concession stand area and the ceilings are beautiful domes in the actual theatre. The movie screens are wide, the sound quality is good, the seats are comfortable, and the people working there have decent customer service.
And all this for a great price!
What more can you ask for?
We can’t wait to go back.

The movies here are so cheap! Plus they just redid the seats! My husband and I always come here before it gets packed, we were two of 6 people in the theatre. The snack bar is your normal, out of this world expensive, movie snack stand. I love that this location isn’t as popular, it makes for a nice date night! The only thing I could comment on about being out of whack is the ladies bathroom. I opened up three stalls with either toilets that weren’t flushed, or they looked like a biohazard. No paper towels. I turned around and walked out, I was not about to catch anything! The service you receive is alright, mostly teenagers and college kids. It’s a hit and miss, depending in the person. Overall I would come back!

I’ll make it short: this movie theater is like any other mainstream movie theater – only much, much cheaper. We went here to see a 3D movie and each ticket was only about $ 5.50!!!
Apart from that, there is nothing really noteworthy. Like most theaters, they have a big parking lot, they sell popcorn and other sweets and sodas, they have pretty standard seats, and the sound-​quality was fine.
Will come here again in the future.

Price: $ 3.50 is cheap to go see a movie.
Concessions: No cheaper than any other theater.
Sound: The sound quality is not a good as regular theaters, which you would expect.
Movie screen: See comments on sound.
Seats: They have obviously upgraded since the last time I was here. They are at least comfortable enough to fall asleep in, which I did.
Overall experience: You get what you pay for.

This is my new cheap place for movies in Tucson. The staff have that Arizona friendly attitude. The 3D movies are a bit more expensive then the other chain of cheap theaters. But the extra money is worth it for 3D. In my opinion this place has the best audio with comfortable and well maintained seats out of the three cheap theaters in Tucson.

It’s super cheap. $ 3.50 for adults and on Tuesdays $ 1.50. It a small theater but for the price totally worth it. You have to wait a little longer for movies to come out then you would a regular theater, but once again for the price I don’t mind. It’s also a great theater for those movies that you aren’t sure about. I’d rather loose $ 3.50 then $ 12 bucks over at park place. The only down fall is that it can get packed, and the snacks are still expensive (normal theater price). Other then that I enjoy attending :) and definitely recommend it !

I’m not even going to admit the last time we’ve been to a movie in the theater. It’s kind of embarrassing. Why pay $ 9 each and sit in uncomfortable chairs with people talking around you when we can Redbox for $ 1.30?
The selection, great times and PRICE at Century Theater got us in their doors last weekend. We felt like we weren’t ripped off and were in just as good of a mood as when we walked in. Not to mention, a great location for us SE dwellers.

$ 1.50 tuesdays is where it’s at!
if you can’t make it on a tuesday, pay $ 3.50 for adults $ 3 for children on any other day. we like bringing our 3 ½ year old daughter here to watch some of the animated films that come out. it’s a good deal for our family because we’re able to buy our tickets and get popcorn and a drink, too!

I move to the east side over a year ago, but was putting off going to this theater from memories of a run-​down-​dive from my teenage years. But it looks like this place went through some rehab, and it’s clean and nice inside.
The staff comes across as very friendly. On the night I was there, he said hello to a patron by name (I assume a regular).
My only concern is a wish for different seats. They are pretty small, and not super comfortable. Also, the angle is pretty flat, meaning you have to tilt your head back pretty far to look at the screen.

Great prices for the «cheapy» theatre. Yes, it’s run down and looks its age, but the audience has always been respectful and this is the only theatre so far in Tucson that I’ve NOT had someone answer their phone in the middle of the movie! The sound quality and picture quality are great and the concession snacks are good. All in all, it’s not a bad place to catch a flick outside of the big theatres.

I am a sucker for a cheap movie. I got to see Dark Shadows here for just 3.25. Jeez! Amazing! The theater was hopping on a Friday night. Everyone comes out. This screen was pretty filled, but enough seats, and actually very comfy seats. I think this may be my favorite of the cheap seat theaters. It feels like a first-​run movie theater, much larger than the Crossroads on Grant. I was able to dart off into another room after my film ended and catch a little of another film. That was bad of me I know, but I was bored.
I never buy concessions at theaters so I can’t say how the rest of it was, but I had a wonderful time with no problems here. I worry about the parking lot so hide your valuables or take them in with you. But that’s true of anywhere I guess!

I’m just really not a fan of the place. Its old and its a cheap theatre and the movies are cheap but I always feel uncomortable sitting through the movies– the seats are not great. Gateway is a better option for cheap movies.
We were sitting through the entire previews with a blank screen– could hear it but couldn’t see anything. Several people went to let management know and nothing happened… at least the screen popped to life at the start of the movie.
Floor is always sticky and lets not get started on the bathrooms that have not been updated since the 70’s maybe!!!
Eh not a big fan…

Brand new cushy seats earn this Cheap Theater 5 stars.
The popcorn still costs a fortune and the movies aren’t first run, but the air conditioner’s cold (bring a sweater if you’re easily chilled) and you can see a movie without feeling ripped off.

When it comes to movies, cheap is good! (Let’s see…$ 9 a ticket, or $ 3.50 … same movie???)
So we consider this little complex quite a find. Relatively new movies (on the cusp of DVD-​dom), large theater, friendly people who actually smile at you when they take your ticket. (Is it just me, or does that seem rare… anywhere…these days?)
Have not tried $ 1.50 Tuesdays yet. Now THAT is a deal, even in the day of the Redbox.
Only one potential glitch in the interest of full disclosure. I’ve noticed «scratches» on the screen of two movies I saw (in the same theater, so I wonder if it’s the projector). I was able to easily «edit» them out and still enjoy the movies. But just sayin’…
Oh, I’ll definitely be back. Look for me on Tuesdays. ;-)
