Back in January I happened upon the most beautiful bracelet I’ve ever laid eyes on. It was a simple silver cuff called a «blade» bracelet, designed to be stacked. Heavy. Modern. Contemporary. It spoke to my soul. I. had. to. have. it. Or have three, to be more specific. Sadly, at the time, my bank account wasn’t having it. As it turned out, my bracelet was handcrafted by renown third generation Tucson artisan Sam Patania, of the famous Patania family of jewelers. Obviously, I know how to pick em’. His work has been featured in the Smithsonian museum. Never one to give up on a dream, I set my longing aside for the moment and got to work on crafting a compelling campaign to convince my husband that I did not just want these bracelets, I in fact, NEEDED them. Which is true. Long story short, our five year anniversary was coming up, and I thought that my bracelets would be the perfect token of remembrance. Our anniversary came and went, and well, no bracelets. Fail. As June rolled around and my birthday approached, I again suggested what a great gift my bracelets would be. My dear husband agreed! I think he was just tired of hearing my pleas and he finally gave in. Success! I literally ran to the phone to call the establishment that carried the bracelets, and to my utter dismay, they were gone. Sold. No more. I was crushed. I got on Google and contacted Sam directly. He was wonderful. He sent me to see Carol at Creosote Jewelry, located in St. Phillips’s Plaza, and all hope was restored. You couldn’t meet a nicer or more helpful person than Carol. She’s a true ambassador for Creosote. She united me with my blades — and I haven’t taken them off since. She let me wear them around for quite a long time to make sure I was completely happy and ready to make my purchase. I was so pleased to have my bracelets, I was reluctant to take them off so that she could remove the price tags! It’s almost a week later and I’ve worn them every single day, and I’ll continue to do so. They are a part of me. Creosote has a mouthwatering selection of jewelry from a thoughtfully curated collection of Southwestern artists. You’re in good hands here. Carol will take care of you, and every single item is a one of a kind work of art. Frank Sr., Frank Jr. and Sam Patania pieces are available, as well as the works of Ken and Barbara Newman, Lawrence Baca, Pat Pruitt, and Steve Yellowhorse. The focus is on contemporary jewelry — clean lines and bold statements. I stayed for an hour for my first visit. You could barely get me out of there. Let’s just say I have a wish list for my next special occasion. Sometimes I feel so sorry for my husband. Smile.
