Dao’s Tai Pan’s

We’ve been coming here since this location opened, and it almost never disappoints. I love Asian food, and Dao’s has a rather large variety of dishes from different regions.
It looks like there are a few bad reviews of their phở, but I haven’t had it yet and can’t comment on that. However, everything I have had has been pretty damned good. I’ve had a variety of Vietnamese noodle dishes, spring rolls, satay, banh mi sandwiches, Thai red curry, and various Chinese dishes. All of them were flavorful and fresh.
I definitely recommend here for lunch or dinner. It’s my family’s go-​to place for quick, good Asian food near our house.

Just called to place an order for delivery. The lady tells me the boss has stepped out and she doesn’t know when he will be back and they have only 1 cook so «he can’t leave either». Is this a sick joke? Do you not have any value for your customers? Why say you do deliverys and then not be able to keep up with that? This is an example of a low grade buisness.

I’ve been here about a half dozen times and service, food and cleanliness have been spot on every time. I’m referring to the 1^st and Limberlost location as I rarely go to the east side. The boba is great too. Staff are always cheerful, food as well as condiments have always been fresh. I prefer Dao’s spring rolls over Miss Saigon since Dao’s uses less lettuce. I really don’t understand the negative reviews either. Maybe the negative reviews are for the east side location?

I don’t understand the poor reviews. We love this place and probably come here 2 – 3 times per month. Would come more often but it’s a bit of a drive for us. We have tried the grilled pork bun and the beef with lemon grass — both delicious. I love the Chicken and vegetable phở. Vegetables are ALWAYS fresh and flavor is great. Summer rolls are fresh and good. M friend tried one of their Thai Hot Pots and said it was delicious. Never tried their Chinese dishes but see them go by our table and they look delicious. Portions are NOT small — they are more than adequate and we both have healthy appetites! They are super friendly and really love their customers. Try this place — you won’t be disappointed!

Came in for lunch. Ordered spring roll appetizer and vermecelli rice noodle with shrimp pâté. Portion size is small for the price. Veggies and shrimp pâté were not fresh – bean sprouts were brown, cilantro wilted, lettuce yellow. Shrimp pâté looked dry and color was off. Fish sauce for my noodle was more salty than sweet and poor quality. I could not even finish my bowl of noodle. All in all, food appearance, freshness, and flavor were all lacking. Will not return again.

I did not see any shrimp and scallop in my seafood curry, but it took me $ 15.00. Really BAD experience! I will never come back again!

I completely disagree with Rich Y., wonderful service, great location, not as busy as Miss Siagon. The food is consistently good and they do not have a problem substituting white rice for rice noodles in Phở soup. Keep up the good work, you have a loyal customer!

We came in with a group of ten but they were happy to put some tables together for us. This is a good place for large groups in the sense that the menu is long and diverse, with many Thai, Chinese, and Vietnamese dishes. They also serve many flavors of premade bubble tea.
Service was pretty lacking for most of the meal. Silverware and napkins didn’t come out until after the appetizers, many of which were pretty greasy. Water took a while to come out and it was difficult to get the waitresses’ attention for refills. The person who took our orders was not the person who brought out the food, so there was a lot of waiting while she tried to interrogate people about who ordered what. The kitchen was kind of slow too. Food came out pretty randomly with long gaps in between, so that some people finished eating before others had been served.
The food was standard, decent. Crab Rangoons were mostly breading with a little cream cheese and no discernible crab. I enjoyed the unusual shrimp pâté on sugarcane. The chicken phở was very light and mellow. Kung pao shrimp was spicy and contained very little shrimp. The salmon curry was also pretty spicy and quite tasty but didn’t contain very much fish. It was primarily bell peppers.

Sorry, I can no longer recommend this place. Message me and I’ll tell you why.

The quality here was never great to start with but because of the location, there were usually less people than Miss Saigon and other restaurants so it turned into a convenience thing for me when I had sudden cravings. Throughout all of my visits in 2015, the quality has declined and finally hit rock bottom.
On a recent visit, the phở broth was basically water. On more than one occasion, the phở veggies arrived in a pool of water. Watery phở and watery veggies do not make for good food.
Browse the reviews here and look for keywords like «bland» and «watered down.» You can find better food elsewhere.
Rich’s recommendation: avoid.

My husband and I came here for lunch. I had the vegan tofu phở and he had a vegan tofu rice noodle bowl (can’t remember the name). We also shared an order of vegetable fried rice. I thought all our food was really good. The restaurant including the bathrooms was spotlessly clean. The gentleman who waited on us explained our different options for vegan food and was very friendly. We will be going back soon!

I came here the second week it was open with my wife and my dad. The ambiance inside is nice — new décor, soft lighting, not too loud — but the food was a lot less appealing.
They use plastic plates which was a big turn-​off. Also, our waiter did not seem to know much about what was on the menu.
My dad ordered something with breaded chicken and it was 90% breading — that’s not an exaggeration.
I really wanted this place to be good since it’s close to where I live, but no dice.

This is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Tucson. The broths for their phos are rich in flavoy, and very bold. I like the «in your face flavors.» the meats are tender, and the veggies, fresh. The have a drive through that takes it up a notch. This location is deceiving from the outside, but you come in, and its a very nice, quiet place. The waitresses are sweet and attentive.

It’s refreshing to have a decent Vietnamese restaurant close to our house, not to mention Dao’s will deliver! Dao’s is a solid, all around Asian restaurant with Vietnamese, Thai, and Chinese options. They’re fast, they have a great variety of dishes, they deliver and provide takeout but their dining room is welcoming and well decorated.
Their Vietnamese cuisine is the best, followed closely by the Chinese, but I found their Thai food sort of bland. So the Vietnamese, their Phở is very good, and the portion sizes are huge (with multiple options). The rest of their Vietnamese noodle dishes are also very good, as are their spring rolls. If it’s your first time, I’d recommend something off of this menu.
The Chinese dishes are pretty standard as Chinese goes, but that actually puts them a step above most restaurants in the area as Tucson Chinese food is always a gamble. I would like to say that I am so very glad they offer Thai food, as it’s hard to come by in this city. It may not be the best, but its passable, and sometimes its nice to be able to grab a plate of Pad Thai or Coconut Curry without driving halfway across town.
The restaurant itself is run well. Its very efficient, and quick about getting food out, or ready for pickup/​delivery. The staff are always friendly and attentive, and helpful when it comes to navigating the vast menu. I wouldn’t say its «the best» of anything it serves, but for what it is, Dao Tai Pan’s is fantastic, close-​by, and fast. I highly recommend it if you’re unsure about giving it a try.

I had read some great reviews on here about this branch of Dao’s Tai Pan’s and wanted to give it a shot as it was much closer to us than my beloved Miss Saigon and my backup place was closed :(
The customer service is, as noted, excellent. A little hover-​y, but there were not that many people in the restaurant at the time we arrived. The employees and owner are ridiculously nice and go out of their way to make sure you are satisfied.
The ambiance of the restaurant is pretty — bright and clean. It was a larger space inside than what I was anticipating which is great.
I got the phở ga with added veggies. I do really like that they give you the option to order it with just a protein or a protein and veggies. The traditional toppings that came out were fresh and I would imagine the perfect amount for a single bowl. The broth, which is my Hail Mary of phở, was lacking some salt and some of the more complex flavors I am used to. Perhaps I am just spoiled — I can see myself really liking it if I was a novice to the broth however I prefer a little more depth to it. The chicken was tender and the veggies crisp.
My husband ordered beef pad thai which he did not care for. I do not eat beef so I passed on that one — he said the noodles didn’t have the «chew» he is used to and the sauce was very, very sweet for his taste.
I know they are fairly new in the Foothills area — I will likely give them another shot when 1. I am feeling 100% and 2. I do not want to drive too far for my phở fix.
I’d recommend going for yourself to check out the place — if anything you’re going to have some phenomenal customer service with your meal :)

I love, love, love Dao’s Tai Pan’s eastside location and was more than thrilled when this new location opened since it is a lot closer to home. This location is clean and bright just like the other one.
We called in three phở orders. Two were very straightforward and one special order ~ beef broth based phở without the slices of beef with lots of extra vegetables. On the phone they said no problem and repeated the order back correctly. Everything was ready when we arrived but when we got home, the special order phở… you know, the one with lots of extra vegetables… had one piece of broccoli and one carrot slice in the styrofoam container along with the normal amount of cabbage and cilantro. That sad receptacle contained fewer veggies than the other two orders. My very disappointed daughter grumbled enough that I gave her all my broccoli and carrots.
I understand that orders get messed up here and there but the order was repeated back over the phone, the place was deader than dead and they still messed it up.
I’m sure Dao’s can earn that fifth star from me and I know I’ll be giving them that opportunity very soon.

The area surrounding 1^st and Limberlost was lacking sit-​down/​takeout oriental food. Not anymore! Dao Tai Pan’s takeover in the unusual-​looking small building complex dishes out Vietnamese, Thai, and Chinese food. They expanded to a second location as they operated their east side location for many years.
Great customer service. In fact, it was almost too much customer service. It’s a little too invasive, but I rather have that problem than having the bare minimum attention. They are very nice and friendly. You’ll be greeted right away upon entering the restaurant.
Phở is always my «go to» when eating Vietnamese food. I echo Brad H’s advice that large is the way to go. It will fill you up and leave you satisfied. My other piece of advice is to take some noodles out of the phở, put it on a plate, squirt some hoisin sauce on it, and eat it with chopsticks. Delicious!
In the afternoon, the sun really sits in on the restaurant. I hope they get some shields to place on the windows because it was too bright inside. If they don’t get it, just be sure to sit at a table opposite of the sun. That or you’ll be wearing sunglasses inside.
The atmosphere is neat. The place was clean, the decorations are cool, and the layout is very open. You can see most of the employees, whether it’s the servers or the chefs. I always prefer that over barely getting to see anyone except for the person serving the food.
Check this place if you’re in the area, and make your own conclusions about this place. My experience was very good!

Wanted to try this place… Vietnamese, Chinese, and Thai food all in one? Yes please… But also worries me since they prolly won’t have the best food since there’s so many cuisines.
The place looked nice and clean. First thing I noticed was the great organization of the drinks when you walk in. The inside was pretty as well.
I ordered from the Vietnamese menu. I got number 33 com tam. Rice with shredded pork, bbq pork, and steamed egg… Well the food was good (esp since I was hungry from working out lol) but as suspected it wasn’t the best.
I got to go and the portions was on the smaller side. I didn’t mind too much since I didn’t want to over eat anyways.
My man got the teriyaki chicken from the Chinese menu. I didn’t like it at all. It just tasted like soy sauce.
Would go back to try more items.

So pleasantly suprise by this new phở joint! We live just around the corner so it is nice to not have to drive to saigon! The menu is extensive and there are lots of veg options. The veg phở was lightly flavored, but the service was awesome and the food game out quickly.
It definitely hit the spot! I am excited to go back!
