UPDATE: I called Greg for the second time after spotting bee activity on the north end of my house. It looked like they were going into a crevice or hole. I first noticed the issue on Saturday afternoon, and he was out on Monday morning.
Bad news: The bees had found a woodpecker hole and built a reasonably significant hive inside the roof cavity, where some insulation had been pushed away or improperly installed in the first place. YIKES!
Good news: He could, and did, help!
He had to cut a hole in my roof to get at and remove the hive. I could have chosen NOT to do this, but he explained the complications that would arise. The hotter the weather got, the more the honey and beeswax would melt… coming down through the ceiling and making a giant mess, plus drawing pests. That sounded 100% awful, so we said PLEASE TAKE IT OUT!
Not only did he (and his assistant) have things wrapped up in about 90 minutes, they patched, tarred, and sealed the area where they had cut into the roof SO WELL that when I got up on a ladder to look, I couldn’t tell where it had been done.
We ended up with approximately 30−40lbs of honeycomb, which he said meant it had been going on for several weeks (at least). I’m glad I found and addressed the issue then and not at a later date!
Best piece of advice I can give you: check the perimeter of your home and any outbuildings regularly for bee activity. Then call Greg ASAP if you find that there is an issue!

A wood pecker had pecked a hole in the top of our chimney and we saw scout bees investigating the hole. We have had bee problems before so we immediately called Desert Swarm. Greg came out the same day and patched the hole. The bees decided to go somewhere else. Greg at Desert Swarm attacks bees like a Desert Storm soldier! Bee grateful for a competent expert like Greg to resolve your toughest bee problems. I called on a Sunday, and within 5 minutes he called me back and told me he happened to be close to my house. He got here in a flash, and removed a hive that filled a 5 gallon bucket! Then he sealed up the spot the bees were invading. Unfortunately, he got a couple of bee stings trying to take a photo of the hive, so I can’t share that with you.

Called for an appointment and WOW they were able to come the same day! We had one wasp nest we could see and they found one more. Excellent service and very professional. I would definitely recommended them and will call them again in the future if bees, wasps, etc. become a problem.

If you ever need to have bees removed from your property and want someone who is very professional and very nice be sure to call Greg at Desert Swarm. He answered all my questions and explained why it would be better to come in the morning, it was ten to five when I called him. A couple of weeks ago, our pool guy reported getting stung on the top of his head six times while working at our home. That was our first hint that we might have a problem… Turns out that we had a MASSIVE bee hive that had been built up under the eaves on the second story of our home. That thing was HUGE, and we could see the structures of the comb peeking out between all of the bees attached to it. I am allergic so I was more than a little freaked out. Called a bee company that a friend recommended, but they couldn’t get out until the next day. Called another company and talked to one of the owners, who told me all about his PhD and all of the years he has as a Bee Expert. He quoted me 695.00 to remove the hive, kill the bees and treat the area with some kind of pherenome-​blocking agent. He said it would be more if the hive extended into the attic. The 695. seemed steep but I was desperate. They said they would be out in 1−2hours. Three hours later, I called back to ask where they were, and got another guy, who also «has a PhD and was the «head of the FDA Bee Lab for umpteen years», who started quoting prices that were WAY above the 695. I was originally quoted. He also said that it would be another couple of hours before his crew got to my house. When I questioned him further for specifics on the REAL cost to remove the hive and kill the bees, he agreed to send me an email quote sheet. When I received the email a few minutes later, I saw that my 695.00 quote to remove the hive, kill the bees and treat the area had now gone up to OVER 2,600.00! Yes, that is two thousand six hundred dollars! The quote showed that the price would go up substantially from there if the hive extended into the attic. Needless to say, I cancelled with that company immediately. A friend then recommended Greg with Desert Swarms; I called him and he quoted me 225. to 250.00, depending on the size of the hive, and not including if it went into the attic. He said he would be there within 90 minutes. Less than an hour later, Greg arrived at our home. He was polite, calm, confident; educated, knowledgable and well-​spoken, and quickly got the job done. He told us that the hive was WAY too large and WAY too aggressive to move, or he would have tried to save it to add to his beekeeping business. The hive ended up weighing over 80 pounds, contained six to eight gallons of honey, and over 10,000 bees. When he was finished with the job, he apologized for having to charge us 250.00 (the higher end of his quote), due to the size and height of the hive.$ 250.00 compared to the $ 2,600.00+ that the other company wanted to charge. Are you kidding me? We were THRILLED to give him the $ 250.00, plus 30 extra dollars as a tip. I cannot say enough positive things about Greg and Desert Swarms. He is truly a professional and runs his business honestly and ethically. If you have a problem with bees, Greg and Desert Swarms is the ONLY call you should make. Oh, and by the way, we haven’t seen a single live bee since Greg finished the work.

I contacted Desert Swarm after speaking to several companies about my problem with bees and the location of the hive. Most companies felt it was a two person job and they needed a lift to get to the location. Greg came out to assess the situation and was professional and promptly took care of the problem. We were alerted by neighbors of a ‘swarm’ in a tree in our yard. We contacted Desert Swarm Bee Removal to see about the ‘swarm’. Turns out when Greg from Desert Swarm showed up it was not a ‘swarm’ but in fact an actual hive. These were Africanized bees and very aggressive as well as dangerous. They were not happy to see Greg, but we sure were! Greg went up in that tree, smoked them and removed the hive within 30 minutes.
