These guys make contractors look bad. Three weeks ago while on «routine» preventive maintenance(they refuse to call it anything other than a tune-up, which should have been a clue), they told me we needed a new capacitor and basic service which would cost me over $ 400. Given that the AC unit costs so much, it is worth making sure that«we won’t have a major problem down the road,» he said. However, now the AC is acting up three weeks later(parts are warrantied for 30 days apparently so it would still be on their dime), they came out to find a completely different problem(surprise!). In fact, there are three major problems that will cost over $ 1000 to repair and they recommend replacing the whole unit! It’s impossible that the severely rusted evaporator, broken blower motor and thermal expansion valve that are shot now were working perfectly fine three weeks ago, but that’s what they claim! It’s impossible to predict the future, but it’s reasonable to expect as a customer that not seeing these major problems means that they really weren’t paying attention to too much. If you are paying someone to come and make sure your AC unit will last as long as it should, then you should call someone else.
