I agree that this is the best carniceria in Tucson. The produce is fresh and low priced. They have an excellent selection of dried chiles. I love their marinated chicken. It’s basically a boned half-chicken, so you get a nice mix of white and dark meat when you grill it. They also have a huge selection of tortillas from Tucson, Nogales and Hermosillo.

I love this store. The hot food they have available is delicious. I’m from San Diego and had a difficult time finding a place for burritos. I found this place and absolutely love their tripas and carnitas burritos. Their tripas tacos are good too. They also have a mini salsa bar and chips.

I think this is the best Carniceria in Tucson. The produce is very affordable, and always fresh. The meat is always tasty and cheap, and the smell when you walk in the place is SODELICIOUS, because of their fresh made baked goods. I just love going here and always leave happy, they really do a great job!

Great selection of produce and less expensive than anywhere else in town. The butchers are terrific, they’ll cut anything you want to order,. The selection of Mexican cheeses is outstanding. If you want real Mexican foods this is the market to shop.

I like this store, the produce is way cheaper than at other grocery stores. The things that I go here to buy a lot is queso fresco and birote(torta bread), and Mexican soda in the glass bottles. I also buy produce sometimes. I’m not sure the chicken and shrimp are fresh. I bought chicken once and kept it in the fridge to cook the next day, when I took the chicken to cook it I noticed it was slimy and it had a weird smell. I called my mom to check and she said it was bad to not risk it. I’m pretty sure chicken doesn’t go bad in one day, especially being in the fridge! On a different occasion, my husband bought shrimp, and again when I went to use it the NEXT day is was kind of slimy and most of the shrimp had black-greenish spots. I know for sure shrimp don’t have black spots. I will continue going but I will just stay away from those two items. The meat looks good. Service has always been good, no problems there.

My local Mexican grocery store. Simple reasons why I keep coming back: The meat department, where I buy carne asada and seasoned chicken and the ginormous public grill outside the store, where you can have said carne asada and chicken cooked to perfection for a nominal tip on the weekends. Grab a bag a fresh gorditas, a container of pico de gallo and a 6-pack of Victoria beer to combo with your grilled meat and you will understand why Herradero is «supremo».

Good food, very mom and pop, very relaxed. If they got really busy things could get confusing and service might decline. But for what it is, for what the intent of the restaurant is they are a success.

This place does not wait on people other than mexican race… and they’re extremely nasty about it… okay so I was WAY too irritated to give details… here it IS… I went into this store to get FRESH salsa and chips… I get in line… one person ahead of me… he has a shaved head, blonde… he gets tired of waiting, rolls his eyes, snatches his things up and stomps over to the 1st cashier… I’m next… the female cashier is counting change from a male mexican customer… it’s cool… slowwww but okay… he gets his stuff and eventually leaves… another employee comes up and chats with the cashier and she gets into an involved conversation with him… they NEVER make EYECONTACTWITHME, never told me that the lane is closed… I wait for 5 minutes of which I think is BULL!!! and then, the 1st cashier(nearest the door) says ‘she’ll wait on me’…I go to her and she rings everything up perfectly… and I told her that that cashier should NOTEVERBEWORKINGINCUSTOMERSERVICEANDTHEREISNOEXCUSEFORHERIGNORINGME… that she is rude… and she, of course has ZERO response… and puts my stuff in a bag… I went up to the original cashier and told her that she was VERYRUDE… and she looked past me like I was not even there! She acted like she did not speak English, which we all know is a LIE! I WILLNEVEREVERSHOPHEREEVEREVERAGAIN… RIDICULOUSBEHAVIOR!!! ANDNO, I will never, ever delete this comment!

This mercado is more like a grocery store than a small, crowded market. The cotija cheese and milanesa meats looked the freshest. If you love all the pan dulce, Mexican doughnuts, or empanadas, you can get those for 75 cents. It is hilarious to see all the little babies in shopping carts with pan dulce all over their faces. They have some great deals such as the a plethora of $ 1 and $ 2 pack of tortillas and $ 2.99 shrimp. The shrimp was slightly fishy, but it was better than a grocery store — not super veiny shrimp! They also have hundreds of spices in their spice section. This place has a new kitchen and will be serving breakfast burritos and Mexican beverages soon. They have a huge grill outside where you can buy some grilled meat. I think this market’s specialty is their meat. The meat counter workers know English and Spanish.

Great supermarket. As you can probably tell from the name this store is geared towards Mexican food. Excellent variety of hot sauces, beans, tortillas, peppers… you name it! Huge meat counter as well – lots of different cuts of beef you wouldn’t find at your average store. Besides having fantastic prices this is hands down the cleanest, most organized grocery store I have been into EVER. Overall great experience… can’t wait to go back!
