Excellent pizza and good salads. This location is a bit small cramped especially on Game Days at U o A. Pizza is expensive but you get what you pay for… only complaint is that they charge you the full price for a topping even if you put it on half the pizza My kids love going here not only because the pizza is great but also since they give them pizza dough to play with

Currently here at Grimaldis. We have been seated outside due to the restaurant, according to the hostess, not having room inside for a party of eight. As we walk outside, we pass two back to back tables for four that are empty. Why these were not pushed together and offered to us I cannot guess. I’m thinking the hostess thinks that is too much work; after all, she is very obviously put out that we have asked for the heaters to be lit. We have been seated for 20 minutes and nary a water served to us, let alone our order taken. One of our party finally went in to ask the hostess if we can get a server. Her response: «I’ll get to it when I can.» WRONG response. After a few more minutes of waiting, we are ready to leave. A server comes out at this point and asks if we have been served. We asked if the hostess told her about us. No. The server just happened to see us through the glass and wondered. Thank goodness for her observation! At $ 25+ per large pizza plus the cost of drinks, this is not a cheap place to eat. Surely they can afford to hire a hostess who wants to do her job. The server, however, is great and the only reason I’ve given any stars at all. Management needs to take note of who needs to be fired and who needs a raise. Addendum: Our server is ONTHEBALL! Pizza came out fast. She is right there to check on us. I give HER5 stars! She is Grimaldis saving grace!

I like Grimaldi’s. The salads are incredible and the pizza is excellent. I miss the old days with the world champion dough tosser. He was the bomb.

This place totally nails it! The calzones are perfection. I love the filling with ricotta, herbs and garlic. If you’re going to snag one, I recommend spinach and mushroom with extra marinara; pair it with an antipasto salad and glass of red wine. Trust me, you’ll be happy for a week!

I ended up going to Grimaldi’s after visiting the UofA Flandrau Science Center. Figured I wanted something close that wasn’t a huge chain. The food was good, but it wasn’t the absolute best, IMHO. For 2 of us, we split the antipasto salad(which was good), one large pizza(which gave us a day of leftovers), 1 beer and one soda. Like a lot of other people have said, this place can seem kind of pricey. Our bill, with only a 15% tip(it was lunch), was just over $ 70. I plan on going again with a group, but I’m sure I’ll order something different. I saw some other folks mention a lunch item of a personal pizza and salad around $ 10. That, to me, is a much better price range. :)

The best pizza I have ever eaten! The ingredients is fresh and you can choose any topping you would like, with the thin crust pizza. The customer service was great, I was welcomed by multiple employees and the pizza came out fairly quickly. If you want to go to the best pizza place in Tucson, than go to Grimaldis!:)

I have been to many Grimaldis and this just wasn’t the best. My boyfriend and I normally love it but just not this location! We arrived and stood by the hostess«station,» that was really just a wall holder holding menus, and wasn’t sure to either sit ourselves since at that point because no one was to be found for a while. Once shown to a table they had to clear it off when we arrived and it just wasn’t clean. I wiped the table with my napkin and tried to forget it. Once our waitress arrived she was very sweet and look our order fast. My boyfriends beer was warm and they gave us the wrong pizza. She said the correct one would be out soon and that the first was free. The pizza was very watery. Ive never experienced it before at a Grimaldi’s and it was the strangest thing. Once we got our correct pizza it was still watery. After all the trouble we had gone through we just got a box for it and took it back to my boyfriends roommates for them to eat. Normally I’d give Grimaldi’s all 5 stars, but this location just really disappointed.

I love the green salad! It’s chopped perfectly, and the Italian dressing is perfectly seasoned! We went for my free birthday pizza tonight, that you get if you are on their email list! The spicy chicken sausage is pretty spicy, but good! They make a good thin crust pizza! I do wish the waitress would have said happy birthday to me when I gave her my free pizza coupon :)

I would probably give zero stars if the food wasn’t good, but the service is horrible, the place was empty and we were standing at the entrance waiting for them to come and seat us, and no one came for probably 10 minutes, they were not noticing us, finally this girl comes and ask us how many and she left and she didn’t even start to put the tables together, another 3 people comes in and right away they ask them how many in their party, We finally just walked out because it’s unacceptable that the place was empty and to wait for that long just to be seated? this was the second time we had bad service, I really like the food but we won’t be coming back ever to this place, it’s not an enjoyable situation, PLEASEFIXYOURCUSTOMERSERVICEBECAUSEITSREALLYBAD.

The pizza is fantastic. The ambiance is clean and pretty. Check the menu to see for yourself, but the food is pricey. Additionally, I was treated like a second class citizen by the waiters both times I went in. I came alone and they gave me a dirty look when I said one person. There were many empty tables so I don’t understand the problem. They need to fix their attitude here.

Went here because they have a sweet birthday deal if you sign up(free large piZa). We got a caprese salad which was so-so. Pizza was okay but not my favorite. Brick oven style.

Oh. My. Gawd. This place is absolutely DELICIOUS!!! I don’t know much about Italy, never visited the ol’ boot. I’ve got a vague Food Network understanding, at best, of what«the experts» think pizza should be but such self-righteous silliness is often absolutely devoid of common sense and taste. I could never relate to that type of pretentious drivel. I think that’s part of the reason Grimaldi’s simple perfection is so appealing. I have had pizza from numerous Little Italy areas on both coasts including Mulberry Street in New York City and Grimaldi’s holds it’s own against any of them any day of the week, without a doubt. Every single ingredient of their pies, from the dough to the sauce is selected and executed with skill and precision. The flavors are mind blowing. You can actually taste the quality of the tomatoes in the gravy(aka sauce). The toppings like meatballs and even things as simple as mushrooms are just done completely right. Words do not suffice here, you must taste this food to comprehend what I’m trying to say. The dough develops a light crispiness that can only be achieved by using a brick oven, while simultaneously maintaining the rare tangible chew of an exceptional pizza crust. Another notable key feature is how perfectly balanced everything is. Not too much cheese, no sloppy overdone sauciness. It’s a well orchestrated Italian symphony of flavors. After gorging myself on an incredible meatball, mushroom and onion pizza, side salad and Chianti Ruffino, we tried the dessert sampler. This was composed of a mini cannoli, mini slice of tiramisu and a sizeable slice of chocolate cheesecake all of which were grand slams in their own right. This was easily THEBESTITALIANFOOD I’ve had in the state of Arizona, good enough to rival the best of both coasts.

Pizza is awesome of and their small salads are family size love this place. I’m part of the club and you get a large on your birthday. Believe me it’s worth the full price though.

The staff were wonderful here and very patient. They will gladly listen to any special ingredient requests and give some friendly suggestions as well. Food: I got pizza with sausage, much room, and onion in original tomato sauce. My friend got pesto with mushroom, meatball, and brussel sprouts on his pizza. They were both lunch size. It’s actually a reasonable size. They don’t overfeed you which is good so I left feeling very satisfied.

As a native east coaster(Philly, NJ + NY), I’ve had my share of authentic Italian pizza. Since moving out to Tucson, I’ve tried Empire Pizza, Grimaldi’s, Upper Crust and a couple of others I can’t recall. I can’t recall them because they are forgettable compared to Grimaldi’s. Grimaldi’s is the best pizza I’ve had in Tucson. The atmosphere and flavor of the pizza-specifically the sauce and semolina-reminds me of back home. Service was good, prices aren’t too bad. Overall I recommend this place to anyone when the topic of pizza comes up. Five stars!

Grimaldi’s did not disappoint! The last time I had thin crust his good was in Rome years ago. I split a large pizza with having one side be their marinara sauce and pesto on the other just to give it a shot with spicy chicken sausage and oven roasted sweet red peppers on top. The marinara was good, but pesto really stole the show. It came bursting with flavor and comes highly recommended — by me. The crust(brick oven and thin –yes!) was delicious and really well baked. The mozzarella cheese wasn’t piled on top of the pizza and made for a great balance with everything else on there. The toppings(spicy chicken sausage and sweet oven roasted red peppers) were really good. The peppers were a bit too soft, but the flavor they added totally made up for it. The spicy turkey sausage was actually a bit spicy(such a relief) and went really well with the pesto sauce(still can’t say enough about how good it was.) It’s a build-your-own-pizza place with 30 different toppings, all of which are extra on top of your base of a sauce and cheese, and so you can get as creative as you want. The service wasn’t immediate, but they kept the water glasses full and made a point to ensure that what we were eating was delicious. And it was!

I think of myself as a pizza aficionado(remember I am self proclaiming here)… and I did enjoy Grimaldi’s both times I have visited. Not the best pizza I have had, not the worst. Middle of the road A-OK, like the three stars indicate. I think my favorite thing on the menu may be the Caprese salad. It is enough for 3 – 4 people, but the last time I went — I literally at the whole thing myself! The menu is pretty lean, but perhaps they do that by design. If you don’t like pizza there are not a lot of other options for you. UNLESS you just go straight to dessert and I would definitely recommend the Cannoli which was superb. Service both times I have visited was truly great — very attentive, friendly and drinks/water were never empty. Kids get pizza dough to play with as well.

Still in search for good pizza, my son and I headed over to Grimaldi’s to take home a pie and a calzone. I guess the U of A students were in class so parking was easy. I stayed in the car and sent my son in. We ordered he largest pizza which was an 18″. The pizza had to be rewarmed when we got home cause we live far. It warmed perfectly and was still crisp. The sauce was ok, cheese was yum. Yes, I ordered a plain cheese pizza. I am not a fan of a paper thin pizza. I did like it. It is not worth going out of my way. I will just call this cracker pizza as that is what it reminds me of. I ordered the personal calzone and ate about ¼th. I put the tomato sauce that came with it on the calzone. This was eaten the next day and also warmed up nicely. I crisped it well as that is how I prefer stuff. Yes, this was just cheese as well. I wasn’t thrilled enough to eat more and gave it to my son. For me, I won’t be back. It is far and not worth the drive. I don’t think I will go even if in the area. I have different pizza taste coming from NY, but that doesn’t make me not like different types as you will see in another review. I do think you should try it and decide for yourself. The prices to me were decent and I can see why people do like it.

Grimaldi’s is FANTASTIC for lunch. For other meals — it’s a little expensive. LUNCH They have a great deal for lunch which is a small personal pizza and salad for under $ 10.(A drink might come with this also but I can’t remember). The salad and pizza are the perfect size and the price is right. DINNER They DON’T offer this small pizza for dinner so if you order the small pizza, it’s enough for 2, maybe 3 people. And the cost is much higher. Just be aware! I ordered over the phone without realizing this and ended up with WAY too much food and a pretty pricey bill.
