Dr. Citrin and his staff are kind, considerate, and usually call two weeks out, one week out, and two days before the appointment to remind me. For me this is unnecessary as I usually put the appointment in my phone the day I set it with the secretary … but I’m thankful! Sometimes phones loose appointments.
Also Dr. Citrin has been rather generous with my wife and myself. We enjoy talking with everyone there.

I am Dr. Citrin and I feel the need to comment on the review by Lisette. Unfortunately, Lisette did not tell the truth. We ask our patients to confirm their appointments that they scheduled. Lisette had a cleaning appointment on Monday at 10:45. She was called twice on Thursday the week before and I called her on the morning of her appointment asking her to confirm the appointment.
I felt she would keep her appointment and did not cancel it. Well, she did not show. Three weeks later she called the office and asked for another appointment. I had told my receptionist to not give her another appointment until I explained what we consider reasonable common courtesy to confirm, the patient will be keeping a scheduled appointment.
I spoke to Lisette and explained in a respectful manner how her not confirming and showing for her appointment effects the office. Even if she canceled on Monday morning, it would have given me the opportunity to fill the appointment. To make a long story shorter, Lisette feels she has no obligation to keep or confirm any appointment. I guess she felt I was lecturing her and obviously does not respond well to criticism.
This attitude is really unusual. It is not typical of how every other patient in my practice feels about our relationship. We are on time 99 percent of the time and I rarely have no shows, because we respect each other and my patients recognize the quality care we provide.
In my career, I have treated tens of thousands of happy, appreciative and wonderful patients. The hardest thing for me to have learned is that I cannot make everyone happy.

After extensive research and reading reviews I opted to make an appointment with Dr. Citron. The reviews that I read showed that he was great dentist. When I called to make an appointment the woman that answered the phone was not professional at all. She was short on the phone and seemed to be bothered by my questions. It appeared to me that she did not want to answer my questions and her customer service skills were less than average. Despite my first impression I still made the appointment, since the dentist was highly recommended.
When I went to my initial appointment the receptionist was not warm nor welcoming which was not a surprise to me based on my initial conversation. During the appointment, Dr. Citron was great and he made me feel like I had made the right choice. Since he was going to be working on my teeth, this to me was most important and I was willing to look past my initial phone experience.
I had a teeth cleaning appointment scheduled a few weeks later in June. On the day of the appointment I became very ill and I was not able to make the appointment. When I called in to cancel the appointment, the receptionist was very rude and made it seem like it was my fault. There was no empathy for my situation and again she made me feel like I was being a bother to her. She explained to me that they would not have an available appointment until September but that she would put me on the waiting list for a sooner appointment. Since I was sick and did not feel like arguing I took the September appointment with the hope of an earlier cancellation, again keep in mind that this was in June.
It is now August and I had yet to hear from the office so I called in for an update. When speaking to the receptionist she was rude and seemed bothered by my questions. When i asked for a referal to an oral surgeon she seemed botheref by any of my questions that i had regarding my next steps. She then stated to me that I had missed my appointment and that it was not her fault. She stated to me that her next available appointment was in October, what happened to my September appointment? She lacks any type of customer service skills and it’s sad to say but I have had better customer service skills from someone in another country. I called back and asked to talk to Dr. Citron, to comment on the experience that i had with his receptipnist. When I gave feedback regarding the receptionist, Dr. Citron became defensive stating that his receptionist is «good at her job and what she does». He proceeded to tell me that he was «very upset with me for missing my appointment and was contemplating on charging me but did not». At this point I could not believe what I was hearing. I have never had an experience like this and I was appauled. I have worked in customer service for years and never had I heard anything such as this and I was taken back. It felt like a dream.
I would not recommend anyone to go to this office. The receptionist is very unprofessional and Dr. Citron proved to be the same. You are only as good as your weakest link and if Dr Citron delivers this type of customer service then it’s no wonder why the receptionist would as well. I will take my business elsewhere.

Not the best place. I feel like I am treated unfairly and always getting yelled at instead of talked to like an adult. I have since switched dentists. The receptionist feels like she doesn’t want to work there and not very pleasant when you walk in. They have a hygeniest first clean your teeth, she is very sweet just doesn’t feel like she does a good job and not professional.

I’ve been meaning to write a review of Dr. Citrin for many months. He is unquestionably a fine dentist but, importantly, he’s also a professional who values responsive and caring service. Here is an example of what I mean:
On a Sunday morning I wake up with a tooth ache. I email Dr. Citrin to advise him of my problem. He responds almost immediately and tells me that he’ll call me Monday morning around 7:30am to set up a time for me to see him. On Monday he calls promptly at 7:30am and asks me to stop by the office at 9:00am which I do. X-​rays are promptly taken and a root canal is advised. He has his administrative assistant contact a specialist in the area and the very next day the root canal is performed and all is OK.
I’m so happy to have found Dr. Citrin. He’s «as good as it gets!»

This is the finest dentist in Tucson. I’m from California visiting here; he did not know me from Adam. Had a dental emergency/​broken crown… he saw me immediately, fixed he up just perfect, was nice, kind, affordable, and QUICK. This is THE dentist in Tucson. Thank you Dr. Jay!

I’ve been going to Dr. Citrin for going on 6 years and I love him and his staff.
The first time I called to make an appointment, I’d been living in Tucson for a few years and hadn’t seen a dentist and was terrified to go in for a cleaning.
I called and the receptionist was SO sweet and got me right in (even though there can be a wait to see him– his practice is very popular!).
First off, his office is amazing– beautifully landscaped, water falls, greenery, etc. On the inside? It’s apparent that Dr. Citrin loves basketball, especially U of A, but he’s a fan of other teams as well. I can’t comment much on the waiting room because I’ve never really waited in there– they’re that prompt!
Each exam room has a big picture window that you get to look out (when you’re not tilted back being worked on). I’ve seen TONS of wildlife outside of those windows and it’s very relaxing (for the nervous types like me!).
Their equipment is also state of the art, including digital x-​rays! They show up instantly on the computer screen in the room and there’s no development wait time. Fancy!
Their hygienist is great, very friendly, and gentle. Dr. Citrin (sometimes people call him Dr. Jay) is SO NICE. He’s funny, personable, and always has time to chat about bball or golf, or his kids. He takes the time to get to know you as a person, not just a chart and a patient number.
Okay folks, time to come clean. I’ve had a cavity or two and have had them filled by Dr. Jay. Part II– I’m SUCH a wuss when it comes to dental work. When he had to numb me up, I cried and he gave me tissues (I’ve seriously had other dentists tell me to «suck it up»). He’s very sensitive and pays attention to the patients’ comfort level in addition to doing a great job with the dental work.
At the end of each exam, you are given a toothbrush (and it’s a nice one too, not just a one-​use travel type) that says «Dr. Jay Loves Me!», a travel tube of toothpaste and some floss. Seriously, people. I get WAY excited about that toothbrush.
I highly recommend him– I can’t say enough good things about the practice he has established in the Old Pueblo.
