Dr. Lopez has extensive training in cosmetic, restorative, and reconstructive dentistry. He has a true gift for using state-​of-​the-​art dentistry to address a wide range of dental needs.

Dr. Lopez is able to develop sensible treatment plans for routine and complex cases and put them within reach of just about anyone. Our patients are provided with the technical and aesthetic information they need for making their best, informed decision.

Dr. Jay R. Lopez is a 4th generation Tucson native. He graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering. He then earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Colorado Health Science Center, School of Dentistry. Dr. Lopez has been practicing dentistry since 1997.

Dr Lopez and his staff are top notch! Regardless of the stress of their recent temporary relocation, the professionalism, customer service, and concern for their patients surpasses all expectations. This is truly an outstanding dental office and I highly recommend them.

I had my first experience in Dr Lopez dental office and from the moment I entered the office I felt welcomed. They were professional and welcomed me with a smile. Dr Lopez and his staff are friendly, caring and sincerely welcoming. Dr Lopez cares enough not to rush a patient and explained several alternative ways to work with me to move me to a final desire of beautiful smile. Dr Lopez is patient, knowledgeable which became apparent quickly as we continued our discussion of moving away from an upper denture to the All-​On-​4 concept. I’m extremely excited and anxious to undertake the dental plan Dr Lopez and I will be discussing in a couple weeks.
I would highly recommend Dr Lopez and his staff to anyone within the Tucson area!!!

Most competent, thorough dentist I have seen in my (ahem!) 75 years. Dr. Lopez takes the time to explain every step. Where he recommends a procedure, he’ll discuss the pros and cons of accepting, declining, or alternatives.
Eveeryone on staff is also terrific — friendly, thoroughly professional. Nobody seems rushed; they all have time to answer questions or just to gab if that’s what you want.
Dr. Lopez is not the cheapest dentist around, but –hey! — it’s my only mouth.

I had a simple question that could easily be answered over the phone but this place stated that I must come in for $ 80. Eek! Methinks not. Dental work is already expensive, I shouldn’t have to pay for one question. What happen to free consultations

I read the comments of Vicki and I have to say that I am very surprised. I’ve been going to Dr. Lopez for many years and have had the opposite experience. Life happens, as they are well aware, and I’ve had to cancel and reschedule a few times. They are very willing to work with you and make sure they can get you in. I have had to pay the cancelation fee once and that’s because I forgot I had scheduled an appointment. I understand that as a small business they aren’t making any money when I don’t show up. I was happy to pay due to my own negligence and thank Dr. Lopez and team for everything they do. If you are considering a new dentist in town, this is the place to go!

I am confused. You seem to be a bit scattered in your review.
It is too bad that you feel you had problems at Dr. Lopez’s office, but being a patient there myself, I can tell you that I have had many problems where I had to cancel my appointment because of work duties and personal matters, (my mother passed away).
I am here to tell the readers of Unilocal,that Dr. Lopez’s office staff has been fantastic with everything. They even sent flowers to my moms funeral! Who’s Dentist office does that?
Those ladies are so much fun and so professional and they have been so kind. I wish they were open early in the morning so that I could go in for coffee with them! And Bethany has pretty much held my hand through all those procedures. I would rather not have a different Dental Assistant. She is the best.
I feel as though they have always been understanding to me, and to every one I have seen in there.
Vicki W — You seem to mention more than one thing? You’re Unilocal post is not clear on what your problem was with Dr. Lopez’s office.
I hope that you can work it out with them. I am sure they will understand.
Uhg, the thought of having to go to a Dentist that you don’t trust just TERRIFIES me, I can only imagine how much difficulty you will have.
Best of luck if you decide to part ways with them. That place just feels like home.

It is true that I was never charged as I never rescheduled. Yes, my family emergency was CLEARLY stated at the beginning of the conversation. I believe Friday morning is 48 hours before Monday afternoon so I felt the threat of a charge was uncalled for. These facts in place, I am still mortified by the office staff’s poor treatment of a loyal, long term patient. The main reason I no longer come to Aspen Dental is because of said manager’s unpleasant attitude and overall angry treatment. I tried to reason with her with below review’s statements about illness vs. family emergency. Was still treated punitively and she made it clear that she didn’t care if I or my four family members ever returned to see Dr. Lopez. This seems to be a poor way to run a business.
On a side note, Kelly, the hygienist, is amazing and I miss her. Felt quite comfortable with Dr. Lopez, also, and am very disappointed he seems to be compliant in this dispute. He knows me by name and we have always been friendly.
But if you have to deal with a hostile front desk it is not worth it. I wish Dr. Lopez cared enough to address this with me personally instead of reply comments I suspect are made by said office staff.

On a cross country trip from NJ to CA, I started having a rear molar bother me. I was in Tucson on a Thursday night and realized that with an upcoming weekend and stops in no major cities planned, I needed to see a dentist on Friday. I found Dr Lopez through these on line reviews, calling when the office opened and was «squeezed in» by 10:30am on Friday. The office is modern, gorgeous, and the staff most friendly, processing my insurance and giving my wife Tucson tourist tips while I was being seen by Dr. Lopez. He is knowledgeable, very competent, and a good communicator. He analyzed the problem using the latest techniques and explained his treatment plan in detail with the expected outcome. He focused on minimizing pain and was extremely thorough. By 1pm I was pain free and back to traveling. On Sunday (Father’s Day), I received a cell phone call from Dr. Lopez checking on me. This guy is great! I would consider switching dentists to Dr Lopez but the 2,400 mile trip each way for appointments might be a little much.

How often do you fall asleep while getting cavities filled?
I have never had a better dentist. The staff are all amazing and super friendly. Go for your next cleaning stay for ever. My husband and I have.

The most important thing is trust when it comes to a Dentist. I can trust that Dr. Lopez will do all the right things to care for my teeth and my health. My grinding had gotten so bad I thought I would destroy all of my teeth. He created a very simple (for me) device that totally saved my teeth. He always communicates with the patients the plan and outcome. HIs staff is always eager to help and it is obvious they care as much about the patient as the Doctor does. Even my teenage grandchldren go to Doctor Lopez that is how much we trust him.
