Best carne asada and tortillas in town. Not dirt cheap but you get great products.

After having a busy Saturday visiting Tucson, we stopped at Karamelo King to grab some food to bring home. It was nearly 10pm so they weren’t super busy but still had a few customers. We decided to try a few different things off the menu. First, we got the«super nachos». They were smothered in melty gooey cheese and carne asada. The flavor was awesome, although I don’t recommend them for take out because the steam made the chips soggy. I would definitely recommend them for eating there. Then we got 2 tacos — hass and carne asada. They were on thin flour tortillas that I thought would fall apart but they held up well and had a lot of flavor in the meat and in the tortilla. The hass was the same but with green chiles. Delicious. We got a Sonoran dog, which I liked but my girlfriend thought was mediocre. Personally I thought it was the best one I’ve had. Last but NOT least — the Karamelo King itself. What looks just like a quesadilla is filled with tons of flavor! I highly recommend a karamelo and I will definitely be having another soon!

I have been all over AZ, CA, and spends lots of time all over mexico. In the 10+ years I’ve been eating at this stand I have never found a better carne asada taco anywhere! The Karmelo is also amazing!

Ordered a carne asada burrito and caramelo. Both were delicious! Good quality of meat and cheese. Would have given 5 stars but the portions were a bit on the small side. All in all I would definitely come back!

Best tacos ever!!! Comparing the prices of the tacos towards other Mexican restaurants, karamelos is a little bit cheaper but the flavors are top notch! I had the carne asada tacos and karamelos quesadilla and the flavors of those were perfect balanced. Their Sonoran hot dogs were pretty good also and is reasonably priced One of my favorite things about this place is although it is considered a food truck, there is an actual salsa bar and they try to keep it fresh by checking it every so often.

Oh Karamelo King, so sad to say, but it must be said. I WILLNEVEREVERGIVEYOU A DIMEOFMYMONEYAGAIN.. NOMATTERIFYOURFOODISDELICIOUSORNOT. why you ask. I went tonight with my son, he went up to order the cook told him wait 5 minutes hell be ready for him so my son came back to car. we were parked on the spot next to the food wagon. so, as my son sits down in car a woman, who is mexican and her two little girls,(my son is 6’3 and blonde and blue eyed) walked up to wagon, the man said to her“scary can I get for you” this is within 2 minutes of my son sitting down. I COULDN’T BELIEVEIT. I WASTOTALLYBLOWNAWAY. I think it was racist, disrespectful and I’ll never ever patronize your food wagon again.

This place is perfection. The namesake menu item, the Karamelo King, is mind-bogglingly flavorful due to perfectly grilled meat(the carne asada is never chewy like some places), deeply caramelized onions, and a perfectly fresh tender-yet-crispy tortilla(also avocado, beans, and cheese). It’s so good I still haven’t tried their tortas or the most intriguing menu item, the Papancha(potatoes with similar toppings). The truck is in the parking lot of the piñata and candy shop which shares the name Karamelo King. At night they set up tables inside so you get to eat surrounded by beautiful unicorns, superheroes, princesses, pumpkins or whatever else they have in stock at the moment. This is my favorite dining experience in Tucson.

Karmello Kings is Hands down the BEST Taco Stand in all of Tucson, and Arizona!!! Tucson’s Best kept secret. The food is always fresh and they cook to order. Prices are very reasonable, and they have a salsa bar with fresh veggies to snack on while you wait with tables and chairs for your comfort. The food is always consistent, simple, and great tasting. My boyfriend and I have both been going there for over ten years!

Very friendly staff. The sides bar is always well stocked with fresh stuff like cucumbers, pico and salsa. I don’t usually eat carne Asada beef but I actually crave the meat here. I could literally just eat the meat and be happy. They’re also only 1.85. The only downfall is they ONLY accept cash.

Holy Karamelo, this storied truck/tent/taco stand is the best Tucson taco experience north of 22nd Street, and that’s a weighty recommendation. The condiment cart is well-stocked with the Mexican staples, and the thick cuke slices are snapping fresh with rock salt on the side. The Dorado($ 1.85) is a mini tostada piled with succulent carne asada chunks and white cheese, straight off the grill. The taco plates are plentiful, roasted onions are always available, and the smoky mesquite grill wafts mouth-watering redolence far and wide. Why the King wasn’t approved for a restaurant site is confounding(he lacked a loading bay. WTH??) and is a testament to Tucson’s lousy city business practices. Karamelo prevailed, as all top Mexican eateries will in this town, but I would love to see them with a brick and mortar space and a liquor license. Dios mio, you can’t beat the King.

The King of Karamello. You haven’t experienced food in tucson if you haven’t been to this place. This place serves authentic, fresh, delicious Mexican food. I seriously never knew Mexican food was this good. If you don’t believe me just look at the crowd that eats there. Like my Mexican friend says — you know it’s good if you see Mexicans eating there. The people there are so friendly, and more importantly this is the kind of place your stomach will not allow you to forget after your debut. Order the steak Karamello, go big or go home. Don’t make the noobie mistake of just eating it plain. They bring you the Karamello, you take it to the condiments section and put a little bit of everything. The taste and the exploding flavours are sublime. To top it off, get some Mexican cola made with real sugar, and enjoy a fantastic meal. Note: don’t expect much from the seating but for me it’s always about the food!

Hands down best taco truck in town. I have been eating here for about 5 or 6 years. I crave their carne asada. No one else is able to match the immense amount of flavor they put into it. Along with top notch sanoran dogs, and karmellos The service is always excellent. It has been the same people working it as the first time I ever went there. I wish I lived closer i would eat here more.

Great food. The chicken tacos are a must have. My wife and I are visiting here for the weekend and Unilocal searched a late night food place. We weren’t dissapointed! Wish they had one of these in Phoenix!

Ate here for lunch and my taste buds had a wonderful time. I ordered the Karamelo King which is a beef quesadilla. This is no ordinary quesadilla. The Alejandro’s tortilla is grilled and filled with tasty beef, avocados, caramelized onions, Wow, it was really tasty. My wife had the chicken taco. It comes with chopped cabbage and chicken on a small tortilla. She really enjoyed it. I also had the Sonoran Dog. Gotta try everybody’s Sonoran Dog in town. Karamelo King’s dog is quite good. It is another place that toasts the bun on the outside. He filles it with a lot. The usual beans, tomatoes, a sauce of his own, cheese topped with mustard. In spite of having a lot of «goop» in there, it tasted good. I’m docking one star for service. Except for one other customer after us who ordered only a Sonoran Dog, we were the only customers. For some reason, our order took 15 minutes for our order. ??? The food was great.
