La Quinta Inn & Suites Tucson – Reid Park

I’ve stayed here in the distant past; the renovations put this location above and beyond where they had been. My room still had that «new room» smell. My only real gripe are these:
— the main swimming pool is (supposedly) heated. a large group was arriving on thursday and nobody checked to see if the swimming pool heater was actually engaged and working. it wasn’t. repair wasn’t affected until the following monday or tuesday, which kinda made it pointless
— the vending machines take credit cards «same as cash» … until you look at your bill and find the charge for $ 2.10 (instead of $ 2.00). so: not exactly same as cash.
wiif at this location was free of charge and was a bit dodgy. if i hadn’t brought my own i would have had trouble
folks at the front desk were super responsive!
good value for the money; i’d stay here again after verifiying that certain bits had been attended to …

I like staying here. The place is well kept. Nice gym and pool. The free breakfast is good.

Got in around afternoon, the front desk lady Teresa was sweet and friendly.
Came back around 8pm from sightseeing and was looking for some food since the front desk lady said they served food at the bar from 5−9pm.
The bartender was nowhere to be seen when I got there at 8:40pm. A patron with a group of 20 said I should ask the front desk.
Teresa helped me look for the bartender and when she came around it was 8:56pm and said the kitchen was closed. She came on very strong without letting me speak. When she stopped, I said «I just want the chicken tenders» and she said she closed the kitchen.
The problem wasn’t that the kitchen was closed before the time they said they would close but the bartender was nowhere to be found and very rude when she was found. She should not be working in customer service. I’m sad this was my first la Quinta experience. However, the room was quite nice for its price which is why I gave it three stars. Also, dog friendly.

For this class of hotel, this place is your best deal. Clean, spacious rooms (some even have private patios) and like all La Quinta’s — dog friendly and no extra fee for dogs! Very friendly and accommodating staff. Very inexpensive. For previous reviewers who complained about the breakfast — try staying at a Motel 6 for the same price and NO breakfast.

I was really happy with my stay here. It was cheap ($ 60-​$ 70) per night for a king-​size bed in a standard room. When I arrived, it was clean and much bigger than I expected, with a working microwave, fridge, and coffeemaker. Bathroom was clean and came stocked with the usual assortment of complimentary soap, lotion, shampoo, and conditioner. The bathroom layout is a little awkward, kind of hard to describe. It’s not a good layout if you have one person who wants to use the sink/​vanity to do makeup, shave, etc. while another showers. It’s a combined bathroom, so that’s not possible unless you’re a couple… I was traveling alone, so it was a non-​issue.
Checked for bed bugs upon arrival & before bringing luggage in; saw no evidence of them. Mattress is particularly firm, but the pillows were fluffy, and I slept quite well. I didn’t have any issues with noise as others have reported, and the bed was so far from the doorway that it’s hard to imagine hearing hallway noise… Maybe some of the other rooms have a less ideal layout? Or lighter sleepers? I’m usually a light sleeper, but nothing woke me up.
AC was cold. As someone else pointed out, you can’t set the temp on the AC. It’s low, full blast, or none, but in Arizona I’ll take extra cold all day long!
There were multiple side gates for easy access from various parking lots. One pool and spa. The spa/​jacuzzi was not at true spa temperature… no way past even 95 degrees. That was one of my only complaints, but I didn’t bother asking hotel staff about it. I basked in hot showers instead — endless hot water, shower heads have twist nozzles with different spray patterns. My bath tub stopper didn’t want to stay open/​upright, so I wedged a travel-​sized shampoo in it. problem solved. Later on, I noticed the maid had fixed it for me somehow.
Maid service was good. I tipped, which may have helped, but I was taught that’s a common courtesy… Might be an old-​fashioned thing though? One day I was still in the room when she came by, but she didn’t return later when I was gone, which was weird. It wasn’t a big deal to me, though.
Complimentary breakfast has some hot options (waffles, scrambled eggs) but nothing amazing. Kind of typical. I did bagels, bananas, hard boiled eggs, and juice, and all were fine. Comparable with regular cafeteria food.
I think hotel experiences depend on individual preferences and a lot of variables (e.g. room placement, other guests at the time, so on). This was overwhelmingly positive for me. I would return in a heartbeat. My favorite part is that they had the room ready for me before check-​in; I got a text just after I picked up a rental car, around 11:15 a.m., stating that the room was ready, so I was able to unpack and settle in.
Just a heads up — there is no in-​room safe, so keep that in mind with any valuables, iPads, and so on. Oh yeah — free wifi, and no problems w/​it on an iPad. Also, they do not give away razors, etc. at the front desk. I found that out from a rather unkind woman shortly after midnight. She failed to tell me that they sold them just around the corner from the check-​in desk. I would have bought one… but as it was, I just purchased some the next day while I was out at a grocery store. So, plan to buy razors before arriving at the hotel and after your flight if you’re using carry-​on luggage.

The ONLY reason this hotel gets 3 stars is because of the guy working front desk when we checked out, Eduardo or something?! I forget his name– sorry! He was working the morning of ⁷⁄₂₈ around 8am. He was very friendly and helpful. That’s where the praise ends. The girl checking us in (⁷⁄₂₇ around 3pm) was terrible. She was too busy reading to acknowledge me and when she finally looked up, she didn’t even say anything to me. Wtf? Whatever. Got checked in, searched for our room. Dirty, disgusting floors and smelled like pee.
Also, we are from California and stopped here on a trip to Florida. When we got off the freeway the area looked decent so we felt good. Don’t be fooled. You keep driving into a sketchy area to get here. We had no issues, but I was definitely worried about our car all night.

very nice hotel. checked in quickly, beautiful pool and has great surroundings. but when I went to get ice on the second floor, we saw a MASSIVE BUG that we didn’t think flew (see picture) and we saw the machine was broken. so we go down the hall AND ITS CHASING US!!! it started flying so I accidentally hit myself in the head with the ice bucket (my fault). we have to be careful opening our door, noticing how it was trying to get into rooms.
but bed are very comfy and beautiful rooms. also the man with the ice downstairs was very nice!
breakfast is great! lots of options and tastes amazing.
pool is great and very nice, as well as the hot tub.
defiantly deserves 5 stars but the bug… the bug.

When we arrived there was no one at the front desk and it took quite a while for anyone to appear. I observed on several occasions the lobby was completely vacant. After we checked in I came down to ask a question but just eventually gave up.
The ice maker on the second floor was broken (not the end of the world) but their complimentary breakfast was late. We had to skip it.
There was no bartender on duty. We had to wait quite some time for anyone to appear. When she finally showed up she apologized saying she’d been doing laundry. Huh?
I will say the staff I did encounter were extremely friendly and the room was very clean.

I stayed at this place for gem show in February 2015. Newly remodeled, Nice and clean.
Terrible to say, they gave my room to another family 45 min after I moved in. People literally walked in my room while I was already unpacking my bags. Hopefully it wasn’t that late and I wasn’t resting and was dressed.
Price For the room was around $ 250 per night — pricey for what you get.
I will take one more star out for absolutely terrible breakfast.
I don’t think I will stay there again.

while the room and physical accommodations were nice, the customer service was poor and we were rudely awakened every morning at 8am or earlier due to preventable noise by the hotel staff themselves. housecleaning staff started working on the room next to us first thing in the morning and didn’t prop the doors open so we got to hear them slam shut again and again. and a leaf blower outside our window too. ridiculous.
when i booked this hotel, i was assured that they had a shuttle and that it would pick us up from the airport. i called to confirm our reservations and how to catch the shuttle again a few weeks before. once at the airport, i call the hotel and they say that they don’t have a shuttle and never did. they offer to send a town car, though say they don’t know if they can pay for it, and it never comes. i call back twice, and end up stranded at the airport for 1.5 hours, before shelling out $ 30 for a cab, that the hotel manager refuses to pick up. classy.
everytime i asked a staff person a question at the front desk, it was like the first time they’d ever helped a guest. they didn’t know the closest rental car place to their hotel, apparently are unfamiliar with any of the major towns nearby or national parks. um, what?! sadly, i’m not joking.
when i complained to the manager at the end of our stay about being woken up every morning by hotel staff noise and being stranded at the airport, she clearly doesn’t care at all. she takes a few bucks off the bill (for the noise, NOT the shuttle which was a really obnoxious mistake on their part) but her attitude really is that she couldn’t care less and doesn’t want to hear what we have to say. needless to say, i won’t be staying here again. too many other hotels to choose from, some of which have to care about their customer’s experience.
if you want to get any sleep or relax, don’t bother staying here.

The room itself is quite nice but the walls and floors are much to thin for my taste. Also the doors are sprung so tight that if your not very careful they slam very loudly. Needless to say not the best relaxing/​sleeping with stomping feet and slamming doors throughout the night and morning. The breakfast was just good enough to get your day going.

Room was good for the price, nice and clean; but air conditioning is old and not temperature based (reason why I am giving this just 3 stars). This made the sleep uncomfortable, either too hot or too cold.
Breakfast was ok with sausage and egg varieties.

Great place remodeld and very clean. The staff is so helpfull and friendly. There free breckfast is much beter than you normaly get. Great bed and very quiet. Great value for the price this is a nice place to stay and I would expect to pay more for a stay here.

Lovely. Clean room, friendly helpful staff, good beds, plenty of towels, beautiful pool with jacuzzi, and perhaps best of all, their own little bar in the lobby — drinks and sports TV in the evenings, full breakfast with good variety in the mornings. At $ 99, mid — week, I’m very happy. If I’m in this area again, I’ll definitely be back. (Oh, and you can take your drink from the bar back to your room. Sigh!)

Nice, clean, comfortable bed and a good shower. The room was quiet and the hotel staff nice. I have no idea of the breakfast quality because I had to leave before it was served. I’ll happily stay here again.

My husband and I had been driving cross country and had been staying at motel 6’s since they are pet friendly. The motel 6’s in this area were not very nice so we looked for another option. La quinta was a breath of fresh air for us, we were frustrated we hadn’t looked into them earlier. It was very affordable, only 70 dollars after tax on a week night. Pet friendly, the rooms were spacious and clean! Had a fridge and microwave and also offered military discounts. Had some breakfast there is the morning which was alright and we were on our way back on our road trip well rested and fed. We will be staying here more often!

Very pleased with our recent stay. Beds were very comfortable. Room including bathroom was clean and attractively appointed. Front desk staff professional and friendly. Highly recommend with two recommendations: do not stay near housekeeping because they talk VERY loud to each other and play LOUD music and be sure to bring your own USB plug for charging phone.

Very nice hotel with friendly staff. This is a great value. The whole hotel has been very recently renovated.

Awesome service. Had trouble with out room but was moved to a better one immediately. Very nice pool. Had a good time here.
