I love the vegan selection of donuts at this place! They are reasonably priced, super friendly and so good! I am a big fan of the maple glazed but the apple fritter is also really good!

THEE BEST FREAKING DONUTS EVER! When I lived in Tucson (BEAR DOWN!) I would get donuts here all the time after discovering it. The donuts are vegan, except for the filled ones. Anyway, the donuts are light and airy… perfectly glazed and so so so sooooooo delicious! They have a rocky road brownie which is pretty freakin amazing too. Also, they have fruit and chocolate empanadas! This place is amazing for so many delicious reasons, but also because it’s a local donut shop and it’s great to support local business. So come in for the best donuts you’ll ever have and feel good about supporting a local small business. The people that work there are very friendly, which is another reason this place is great!

Great donuts don’t leave you feeling like sh? t like most chain donut shops. Building could use some updating, cool historical building though… Would recommend to anyone who hasn’t tried them, support local businesses!

Holy cow, their donuts are amazing! I’m not exactly sure what a vegan or «vegetable» donut is, but they were hands down two of the best donuts I’ve ever had. Just wow! We stopped by in the afternoon around 12 and the donuts were still fresh. We had glazed and maple and I can’t wait to go again and try more of them. If you’re in Tucson and you like donuts at all, this is a MUST!

I am a fan of yeast raised donuts with a dusting of powdered sugar… that’s it… no filling! Every time I crave a donut I either have to settle with squeezing the filling out and eating around what I failed to get out or I drive to Le Caves to get the perfectly made donut. The building is definitely in need of some repairs but whatever they are doing in the kitchen should not be messed with. Worth the drive from any point in Tucson!

Since my wife and I were down from Phoenix, I had to try what supposedly is the best Donuts in Arizona.
Of the donuts we bought half were very good and the others were average. The Chocolate covered and Glazed were Average though superior to KK’s.
The Empanada’s were some of the worst I’ve ever had. Due to the crust, because that all there really was. Barely any fruit filling at all.
The Apple Fritter was soft, moist and flavorful. Unfortunately both of the ones I purchased didn’t have more than a couple of Apple chucks in them. More Apple and Cinnamon Please.
The Cinnamon Apple filled Donuts were exceptional. The filling probably comes from their pies. I hope anyway, since I’ll try one of those next trip. You bite into the Cinnamon and Sugar on top, then right into the wonderfully soft dough and filling. I could have eaten a dozen and lived with the repercussions.
The Pineapple Pie I brought home, is probably one of the best pies I’ve had in 30+ years. Not since I lived in Juneau, where a church lady made 50+ pies every July 4^th with the flakiest crust in the world, have I enjoy a pie this much. The crust melts in your mouth with the filling and is outstanding. It had lots of pineapple (not the cheap stuff) with just the right amount of sweetness.
I don’t think Le Cave cracks the top 10 donut shops in Arizona, but they do make the best PIE I’ve had in the State. And I’ve eaten allot of pies around here over 30 years. I’d say they are in my Top 3 PIE places EVER and that includes Europe.

Yummy donuts. I tried several of the filled donuts, but the best was the strawberry glazed. These donuts are crammed full of different fillings, almost too much. The «jelly» inside oozes out when you take a bite, so make sure you are wearing a bib, not a white shirt. The filled donuts are $ 1.59 each, make sure to differentiate between the two, as I didn’t realize there was a difference until I went to pay.

I was introduced to this bakery by a coworker who brought these donuts to work one day. They are AMAZING. I basically inhaled like 5 of them in one sitting. They use a glaze made of vegetables (don’t ask me how) but it’s amazing and tasted NOTHING like a vegetable and EVERYTHING like a donut on crack. The donuts are amazing, But I can’t wait to come back and order a cake and try the pie!

Found this place this morning by accident while craving donuts on my way home from work. Amazing! Sweet but not overly so. Fluffy and soft on the outside. Slightly crispy on the inside. I’m in love! Best donut I have ever had and I’ve had donuts at small bakeries all over the US. Will definitely make this a weekly stop. Don’t let the fact that you can’t park in front scare you. Plenty of parking on the side street and you are in the store in 30 feet. Smallish selection doesn’t matter when what they do have is incredible.

OK… I have heard about this place from a few friends that know good food. Do you know any of those folks… there recommendations are typically spot on? So, I took my wife, who is not the biggest donut fan, because we just happened to be driving by. One bite… I mean one bite is all that it took and I immediately knew this was the best donut I have ever had! The girl who was there was really friendly and we ended up leaving with a full set of these wonderful donuts. I cant even believe this is not the number 1 donut place on Unilocal. I guess that just goes to show that you cant always bank on the number 1 slot here sometimes. I will be back and this place is a Tucson gem…

Always on the look out for awesome donuts when we travel it’s a hit or miss. This was a HIT. 1^st off it is in a sketchy part of of town, the actual bakery is pretty run down. the clean freak in me was kinda grossing out. BUT the donuts are AMAZING! I mean AMAZING! We got 4 maple, 4 chocolate, 1 powder, 1 lemon filled, 1 apple cinnamon filled, 1 glazed and a 1 croissant for 15 $.

A very tasty doughnut. I will definitely be back.
The most remarkable thing about their doughnuts is that they don’t make you feel sick for the rest of the day like most places. Just nice and satisfied. Maybe something to do with no dairy or eggs in the dough?
They weren’t quite the perfect pastry, though. The texture was a teensy bit dense and chewy, and the frosting was sweeter – like cake frosting – than is standard. Maybe also something to do with no eggs or dairy?
If you haven’t tried them out, you should.

You say Lee-​caves and I say Luh-​cåvz. But who really cares when the fried dough is this damn good?!
These fluffy (and surprisingly light) delectable donuts are utterly delightful. My favorite, by far, are the filled versions. Whether it’s raspberry jelly, lemon curd or vanilla custard these babies are PACKED full. Honestly, there is probably more filling than dough composing these donuts. I’m used to having to search for the tiny dollop of filling in other donuts, often getting a mouthful of pure dough in my first bite. Not at Le Cave’s! Absolutely amazing and super fresh without the slightest greasy aftertaste. No filmy coating in your mouth no matter how many vegetable glazes you cram down your gullet.
The hole-​less glazed is still a mental distraction for me but I reconcile my resistance by telling myself I’m getting an extra bite from Le Cave’s that all those other traditional ring shaped donut clones have been shorting me all my life. So it works out I guess.
It was a little disappointing they didn’t cater a little more to their donut patrons by having a few tables and chairs or offering some simple beverages for sale (coffee, milk, juice?). It’s awesome that the business and building have such history but providing a little more accessible parking would greatly improve the retail experience here.
It was also disappointing that their display cases didn’t look anything like the awesome pics on Unilocal.I was expecting to see a huge selection of cookies, pastries, cakes and donuts. Sadly, the cases were fairly bare with just a limited selection of donuts and a few paper pictures of unimpressive looking cakes. Is this the current norm? Thank goodness the chosen few were noteworthy!

Just left this bakery and the donuts were amazing. They’re super light! I feel I could eat a million of these things, and they’re gluten-​free/​vegan! Have to be the best in Tucson, hands down :)

This gem is a well deserved 5 stars. Unfortunately I did not get the bakers name, but she is kind. My first encounter I only had my debit card. Well, there is a minimum $ 6 charge. She allowed me to make the purchase even though I did not meet the minimum requirement-​thank you for that. I can only imagine the potential of this space when it originally opened in the 1930s. Now it’s a bit run down, but the ambience is NOT why you come here. The donuts are amazing. AND they are vegan (at least 10 of 12 are). Being a long time vegetarian it is hard to find good food, especially after living in Portland for the past 5 years, where we have Voodoo doughnuts!!! Le cave’s is simple, delicious and delicious! Take these home (if you can make it that far) and enjoy with some friends and coffee. So glad I found you!

The deliciousness of their old school glazed donuts (vegan) is what Krispy Kreme dreams of duplicating (and fails to do). These are the kinds of donuts you would hear your grandparents talk about and I’m not surprised since this place has been around since 1935. I say come for the glazed alone. They are not cheap donuts. They are quality old style donuts that are worth the price and trek. I am not a fan of their jelly or powdered donuts. Their chocolate and maple donuts are also quite good. But, really try the glazed.

Donuts (or however the hell you spell it) are my favorite sweet. Better than Ice Cream, Cakes, Pies. Nothing goes with breakfast, lunch and dinner like a good DoNo. At Le Caves’ is, by a large margin, the best example of a donut I have ever run across.
Let me put it in list form:
1. The donut is bigger. They don’t put holes in their donuts, not even the glazed. So unless you’re used to a big donut, the Le Cave glazed is larger than your average grocery store offering.
2. Their Crème and fruit filled donuts are, by an order of magnitude, better than anything in the Tucson area. And the Phoenix Area. And maybe AZ as a whole. The raspberry filled is so much better than what you get at Bosa, you’ll cry like you’ve just held your child for the first time.
3. It’s vegan. Let me clear this up. I freaking love meat and milk and pretty much everything that comes from animals. Including fat. Especially fat. How they make these donuts with no lard is beyond science. Kudos for that, and using real fruit filling, too.
Some believe in a God. In that case, it’s likely that God made these damn donuts. Others believe in Platonic Forms, which makes the Le Caves’ Glazed a literally manifestation of perfection. Whatever you believe, get your ass down there and pleasure yourself to the taste of these donuts.

OK, I got the «Oh man, mmn, mmn, mmn» response. It was National Donut Day so I had to try them. My wife and I went there at 4:00 and their shelves were mostly bare, but they had donuts in the back and they were still baking. Customers were continuously shuffling in and out, leaving with bags and boxes of donuts.
I had a maple glazed, a crème filled, and a mango delight (mango jelly donut). We also got a vegetable glazed (all their glazed are vegan) and a lemon delight. The texture of all were very nice. Fluffy, yet not greasy. Their donuts do not come with holes. For instance, the maple and the vegetable glazed are like a Boston Crème without the custard inside. It’s a hole-​less donut. So I guess that means you get a little extra bonus with their donuts.
The crème filled was delightful. Real cream filling as far as I can tell. It didn’t seem like plastic nor overly sweet. Just a nice whipped cream without being too airy, either.
The mango delight was delightfully HEAVY. It is filled with tons of mango jelly. Same for the lemon delight. I have eaten half of the mango delight and it is still around 3 times heavier than a regular jelly donut! No. Exaggeration. When I first picked it up, I went, «Whoa! This thing is heavy!»
As a result of not having a hole, perhaps, all of their donuts are priced at $ 0.99. A dozen, however, is a very reasonable $ 8.99 or something like that. I know the $ 8 is correct, just not sure how much in change, but I’m 99% sure about the $ 0.99.
Verdict: As good as Queen Donuts and Donut King. A tad better than Young’s. Definitely better (as is Queen & King) than Wheel. On to Alvernon Donuts! And I will have conquered the donut circuit!

Soooooo good! The doughnuts are melt in your mouth greatness. The empanadas were pretty good as well, not the best but still good.
The doughnuts are definitely the reason to go. Though it was kind of sad to see the place looking somewhat run down.

These are the best donuts in town. I love their vegetable glaze donuts. The chocolate ones are good, too. The bakery is about a 25 minute drive from my home, but it’s well worth it. The staff is friendly, too.

YUM!!! We really enjoyed the donuts here! They were very fresh, which is key to a good donut. Nice variety of flavors as well. The area is a bit sketchy — a homeless guy followed us in, but oh well. We will totally go there again!
