While on a business trip to Tucson, I decided to see if the local turquoise stores had anything «I just had to have». I have collected Native American jewelry since the 1960’s so I’m pretty picky about the pieces I add to my collection. I walked into this store and knew, immediately, I’d find something special. Where do I start? This store has been in operation, with the same owners, for 40 years so you’re not going to find the same old massed produced, solder on a leaf/​twisted wire and call it good, pieces, as in other stores. A good thing. There’s an impressive vintage and artist selection of jewelry here and the prices are reasonable given the quality. The owners know the pieces, are quite knowledgeable about the artists who create them and patiently work with you to find your perfect item. I never go into this kind of store with a pre-​set idea of what I want because «I’ll know it when I see it». I bought my special piece today and I’ll go back tomorrow to get something I should’ve bought today! And I haven’t even gotten around to the rest of the store with the furniture, beautiful paintings, baskets, dolls, fetish… Oh my! They ship, too… hmmm. This’ll be my go-​to shop.

Knowledgable, friendly, and with a phenomenal selection of all different kinds of jewelry (both vintage and not). Their book offerings are neat, too. You may just develop a curiosity for the hallmarks of southwestern jewelry, and Morning Star has a guide for just that.
This will be my recommendation for anyone who visits Tucson looking for something beautiful and authentic.

My spouse visited this store while attending a conference in Tucson and bought me a Navajo old pawn bracelet. The turquoise turned out to be greener than what had come across in texted i-​phone pics, and in the end I decided to return it in exchange for a bracelet with blue turquoise; I wasn’t really picky about the shade of blue, but it had to be blue. The stone also had to be natural, and the bracelet either 1930s or 1940s. I worked with Jess to make the exchange happen, and she was enormously helpful. She took the time to look through their stock (I live in the Boston area and wasn’t able to come in to the store myself) for bracelets meeting my criteria, and found me a beautiful 1930s bracelet that was just perfect. I really appreciated her professionalism and willingness to work with me via phone and e-​mail, taking photos of the bracelets she’d found and e-​mailing them to me. I’m sure it took some additional time out of her day to do that, but she did it with a genuine interest in helping me find a bracelet I would love. My spouse also bought me a beautiful little jackalope fetish there, which i was thrilled to add to my small collection. I highly recommend this place, both for the quality and fair pricing of their merchandise, and for their warm and very helpful customer service. If I’m ever in Tucson myself, you can bet this will be the first (and quite possibly the only) store I hit!

Beautiful store. The selection of items is fantastic and fairly priced. You can spend a lot or a little, depending on what you want. The sevice was phenominal! Thank you, Sheila for taking the time to wait on and educate us. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Whenver I visit Tucson, I love going to this store. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and there is a wide variety of wonderful and fairly-​priced merchandise. During my last visit (²⁄₂₀₁₃), I bought two lovely Zuni fetishes, and my mother (who is a retired anthropologist, worked in a museum, and has been collecting Indian and Mexican jewelry, Native American ceramics, etc. for decades) bought herself some nice jewelry.

This is one of my favorite places! I went to college in the area and it is the only place to this day where I will by Native American Art work. They are great, easy to work with (I live on the east coast now), honest, well priced and most important have an amazing collections!!!
