MPG Automotive Services

I go to the Valencia location and even though I have never done anything beyond an oil change, I’ve been satisfied with their service and their up-​front prices. The waiting room is nice and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I like that they are not pushy about upselling me when all I want is a simple oil change.

After getting quotes for brake pads at multiple mechanic shops, I chose MPG because they were the cheapest in the area, and their prices were clearly marked on the wall behind the cashier, like a fast food menu. I like this type of transparency. They also have a nice waiting room, and friendly/​professional staff.
However, I have to deduct a couple stars because of two things they missed. 1) They didn’t re-​surface my rotors, which caused uneven brake wear, and my brakes are still squeaking 5K miles later. 2) When I got my oil changed, they didn’t tighten my oil filter enough, and I started leaking oil on my driveway. When I checked the oil filter, it was so loose — I could twist it with two fingers.
When I took my car back to point out these issues, they quickly accepted blame, and 1) offered to re-​surface my rotors whenever I had an hour to spare. 2) Tightened my oil filter and topped me off right away, stopping what they were doing to help me out in under 10 minutes.
Overall, I’m satisfied with MPG, but not a loyal customer yet. i will probably check out other mechanics before going back to them.

My wife and I traveled to Tucson from Austin, TX and had nothing but trouble with our Ford Taurus. Somehow we made it to town and took it to the MPG on Valencia.
I will say that everyone that we talked to was extremely nice and accommodating. However, we dropped the car off right when they opened on Saturday morning and were told that they would call us in 1 – 2 hours after they ran a diagnostics test ($ 100). Four hours later, we hadn’t heard from them, so I called. They were still checking. I called again a few hours later and they were still checking.
After a full day of doing diagnostics checking, the problem was never discovered (though they thought I might be the fuel pump). I picked the car up and took it to Pep Boys on 6^th on Sunday. They checked the fuel pump pressure which was low, replaced the fuel pump and filter in a couple of hours, and we were on our way back to Texas.
