We had not been here in a while. We went for lunch the other day and the food and service is really good. My wife and I use to enjoy their Gyro wraps, apparently they do not have those any more. This time we got the Gyro Pita. That too is yummy. Of course we had the Flaming Cheese. We were even able to convince our daughter to give the cheese a try and she like it as well. By the time we were done, we were too full for dessert. We have had the Baklava before and it was very tasty. In the past when we have gone, it does get busy and when it is busy it does get a little loud. This time we were on of three tables, so it was very quiet.

We are full time RV travelers and come through Tucson about once a year or so. My Big Fat Greek is always on the list of «must go» places when we visit. Now I am not a real big fan of authentic Greek food, I don’t care for lamb, but I have had a number of the non-lamb dishes at MBFG and loved them all. The stuffed peppers are excellent, but we were here for lunch this time, so I had the steak and cheese pita. It was wonderful, with lots of tender steak cooked to perfection. A sort of a Greek Philly cheese. The other three in our party all had the traditional Gyro with the Greek salad, and everyone was very happy with their choice. Our calamari appetizer was excellent as well. Not everyone likes what we call«the babies» with the tentacles, but we all four do and they were about half and half with the calamari rings. The service was OK, the server was a little inexperienced, but friendly and attentive. Another great visit to an excellent restaurant that we will visit again.

Mediocre Décor Mediocre Service Mediocre(at best) food So disappointed in our experience here. Could have been great, but missed the mark with each thing. Calamari overcooked and not seasoned, Gyro plate looked like dog food, Greek salad was watery and tasteless. Icing on the cake: «would milady like more wine» really? –it was creepy and awkward. Nothing was good enough for us to say, maybe it was a bad night we will try it again.

This review is for anyone who is scared to try greek food because that was me. I will admit that I probably did not order the most authentic greek meal, but this has become one of my favorite places to eat! They have wonderful burgers and fries(try the greek fries) and the Gyro meat is DELICIOUS! I often times call ahead side orders of just the gyro and take it home to make panini sandwiches on my panini grill. Service has always been great for me and the dining area is always kept clean.

I went here for the first time for a friend’s birthday dinner. I’m not a fan of Greek food but found quite a few choices of other foods so that was cool. Overall, the restaurant is very nice and very clean with friendly servers(young men mostly) and good food. Here’s a rundown on what my friends got and their comment on their choice: 1. Shrimp Flambee appetizer: «Delicious and tangy» 2. lamb chops: «Perfect!» 3. Taverna Pizza: «Good with lots of veggies» 4. Chicken Souvlaki: «Very good with a delicious sauce» 5 .Shrimp Athenian, a pasta and shrimp dish: «Excellent. It had 3 cheeses and lots of garlic and shrimp.» 6. Tatziki with Pita: «5 stars!» So there we have it… everyone enjoyed their meal and the final tab was very reasonable. It’s a nice place for friends to gather.

This restaurant is AMAZING. The food is always great and the service is excellent. It can be a little pricey(especially for large groups) and it’s almost always packed. Call ahead and come hungry!

No your server might not be named Nick or Nicki and they won’t offer up windex to cure your ailments but for Greek food, they are pretty good! And if you don’t eat meat, It’s ok, they have lamb. Alright alright, enough of the«My Big Fat Greek Wedding» references, but someone had to do it. My first visit here had me surprised at how delicious and authentic their items were. Not only are they very flavorful but they have always cooked my meat to perfection. I love getting the lamb chops and biting into my a well seasoned medium rare lamb«steak on a stick». For a local chain, this place serves excellent meals, great service, and good cocktails. For the big eaters or the meat lovers, such as my husband and myself, we always opt for their big«village spread» which is a large platter of all their main specialties including Gyro, Lamb chop, chicken souvlaki, beef souvlaki, stuffed pepers, all accompanied by their popular sides of lemon potatoes, rice, veggies, and pita bread with tzatziki. Speaking of which, I LOVE their tzatziki sauce! It’s more lemon-y than others and just how I like it. If you are looking for a place to have lunch, go out with larger parties, have a large dinner, or just looking for some decent greek I would recommend My Big Fat Greek Restaurant(not to be confused with My Fat Greek on University). Beware that on weekend evenings all the servers and hostesses join in a greek dance for our entertainment but that can also mean little to no service for a few minutes. Enjoy and OPA!

I’m totally a fan of this MBFGR. I’ve never had bad service or a bad meal here, though I always order the same thing: Gyro with a greek salad with the greek fries for an appetizer. The greek fries are covered in the tastiest sauce ever, it’s tangy and savory; and covered with feta! It’s a Must order. I loves their gyros because they are always well balanced in flavor; not too many pieces of red onion but just enough to push the flavor to the edge, lettuce, tomato and tzatiki. The tzatiki is pretty bomb. I tend to ask for a side order to put a little more on my sandwich as there is a lot of delicious meat piled in that pita. We never get to order dessert after our meal, sometimes we are just too full if we finish everything on our plate or we’ve had other dessert plan, though the baklava looks reeeaally good. ALSO, Saturday night there is live music on the patio, it’s very nice.

Had lunch the other day at My Big Fat Greek Restaurant. Had the chicken pita and salad. It was okay but nothing to rave about. They had an odd dressing for the salad. The Greek restaurant at Park Mall is just as good as this. They do have a fantastic baklava cheesecake. I would definitely go back for just that! The service was fine and there were lots of diners. So, others must like it.

Had a family dinner here recently and was generally underwhelmed. It had the greek classics that you would expect but everything was high on the fat and low on the flavor scale for me. We had a couple gyro plates, spanakopita, a greek combo and the greek fries. The best thing for me was the greek fries, but the other dishes were not as quite as flavorful as I was expecting. The service was great though.

Not good. My husband and I are big fans of Greek food, and this was barely Greek food. We had falafel and a gyro, and there was nothing good about the meal. Both dishes were dry and not flavorful. The best part was the tzatziki and it wasn’t even that good. Nothing special at all. The place looks cheesy as can be, with silly decorations on the walls. The service was decent. There are so many better places in Tucson, there is no way we are coming back!

I got a groupon deal, which I notice seems to be offered quite a bit, for those interested. I brought my family and we enjoyed an interesting meal. We ordered this flaming cheese appetizer-amazing! Coincidentally, we also shared a custard dessert, also lit on fire! So much fun! This place had great service, and decent prices. It is a very friendly and clean restaurant. I have had Greek food that was more authentic, so I hesitate to grant a rating higher than 3. I like the homey comfort of a locally owned joint for this type of food. However, I do recommend this place. It was quite tasty and a great value. It would be a good place to bring a bigger group. Lots of fun!

My girlfriend and I went here tonight on a Groupon deal. Having never been here before, we were excited to be getting a chance to have some Greek food on the cheap. And actually, the meal started out really well. We ordered the Salata Caprese appetizer — alternating layers of baked feta cheese and tomatoes on top of a bit of pesto with a dusting of dried oregano. The pesto was a bit on the tame side and the tomatoes reminded us that it is winter after all, but overall we really liked it. The trouble started when the waitress asked us for our entrée order. My girlfriend has a gluten intolerance and can’t have anything with wheat, so we asked our waitress what we should look at. She ruled out the pita bread and the pasta, as well as anything that came on a bun or had filo dough in it. I added, «And anything with bechamel, right?» She looked perplexed, and said that bechamel is a cheese sauce so we shouldn’t worry. Now, having made bechamel before myself, I can tell you that a basic bechamel sauce is made from three ingredients: butter, flour, and cream. Accordingly, I expressed some hesitation, but she insisted. I told her that if she could make absolutely sure that the bechamel sauce did not have any flour in it, then we would have an order of the bechamel-topped moussaka, as well as the braised lamb shank in red sauce. Upon consulting the kitchen, she returned to tell us that indeed, the bechamel did have flour in it. One of the kitchen staff got her attention, however, and apparently told her that they had made a mistake: the bechamel would be safe — they had looked at the list of ingredients. Perhaps needless to say, when the moussaka came out, it was immediately clear to me that it had flour in it, just like normal bechamel does(or perhaps I am wrong, in which case I have no idea what they’re serving people under the guise of bechamel sauce). It was okay — I just gave my girlfriend the lamb and we were on our way. Unfortunately, neither dish was that great. The moussaka was a pretty standard example of its kind, but it wasn’t particularly well-seasoned and didn’t impress me with its flavor. It came with some decent potatoes, some veggies that didn’t really have much to distinguish them, and some straightforward rice pilaf. The lamb came with the same sides, but it wasn’t the highest-quality meat and the red sauce was unrefined — too acidic and not well-suited to the lamb. When we were finished, we asked about dessert and found out that we couldn’t get the only gluten free one on the menu because they had run of yogurt(at a Greek restaurant!). Ultimately, this wasn’t a nightmare experience or anything like that. Our waitress was actually really friendly, and although the food wasn’t great, it’s not like we found a severed toe in it(actually, my girlfriend pulled a hair out of her mouth at one point, but it could definitely have been mine). The restaurant itself was attractive and well-kept, the portion sizes were good, and the menu hit on all the standards. It’s just that the food wasn’t very good, and the staff clearly had no idea what they were actually serving people — a pretty gravely bad sign in my book. Given the other perfectly-good Greek options in Tucson(particularly Opa! for this level of dining), I just would advise looking elsewhere.

My biggest gripe here is the service. I’m convinced that the wait staff either hate serving or hate working at this place. A friendly greeting, or even a smile, would be nice. Our server was completely stoic in an «it annoys me that you even came in» kind of way. We tried. We smiled. We laughed. We joked. We got nothing. As you can imagine based on my comments thus far, service wasn’t timely either. Water cups emptied without being refilled and there were long waits in between his visits to our table. The flavor of the food is average. Not spectacular, but nothing to complain about either. Though I’ll admit that I haven’t tried a lot of different dishes nor am I any kind of expert on Greek food. I did notice that the portions were about half the size of what we’ve experienced in the past though. It is one of those places that nickles and dimes you as well. Need more than 8 little triangles of pita bread with your appetizer? Well, that’s going to cost you. I’d rather drive further to be a patron somewhere that I’m appreciated.

We went there on a recent rainy day and power surges aside the food was bland and the lighting way too low. The gyro pita, which in and of itself is not a measure of a restaurants success, was just gyro meat in a flat bread with some flaccid lettuce as an accompaniment to the tzatziki. The accompanying greek salad consisted of a few tomatoes, a sliver or 2 of cucumber, 1 olive and a light sprinkling of feta cheese specks, which I think by definition is a salad with veggies not a greek salad. The dressing was heavy on the olive oil, which tasted like a nice extra virgin, but light on flavor except for oil. A usual greek salad is a nice mélange of mixed flavors: the fresh tomatoes and cucumbers, the salty feta, the tangy olives and a sharp vinaigrette. This was mostly green with oil. Did I mention it was oily? It was oily. While the previous was not egregious, the children’s meal was. We ordered the gyro, pita(which at this restaurant means: Flat bread, a thick, oily bread almost unlike a pita except in shape and its ability to surround filling) and french fries. The meat and pita were fine but the french fries were so salted that I got a salt burn on my tongue when I stole one from my son’s plate as he wasn’t eating them and understandably so. This is pretty unacceptable for not only a child’s plate but any plate. Having had this experience, getting out for $ 25-ish dollars for 3 of us, I wouldn’t return even if the rest of the greek food was much closer to the standards I have come to expect at an authentic greek restaurant. It was however not even close the level of suck that Opa! is so it has got that going for it which is good.

We were in the mood for some Greek food and decided to check this place out. The place was a slightly empty, but it was right before 9pm. They were out of the meat mousaka so I settled for the veggie version. Which was DELICIOUS! The dolmades were decent. The hummus was about average. Reason I say this is because the Phoenix location has different flavors of hummus. We only had the one choice. You can never go wrong going with baklava for dessert. Overall it was good, not the best,

Let me get this out of the way first… OPA!!! Ok, I feel better now. Our party of six ordered one Meat Lover’s Platter which consisted of lamb chops, pork, chicken and beef souvlaki, gyro, mousaka, pastitsio and tzatziki, served with greek salad for two, rice, and roasted lemon potatoes and pita bread. I can’t remember the exact price, but it was a bargain… excellent for larger parties. We also ordered a couple extra salads, lemon potatoes and shared everything. Overall, I would say my dining experience at MBFGR was fun. Greek dining involves a lot of sharing, passing of plates, which lends itself to good conversation. It’s a non-boring way of eating you could say. Other plusses: full bar, outdoor wood burning fire, baklava, Greek coffee. . !

As most know, Sierra Vista isn’t the greatest place to dine… BUT, This place is amazing! I was very impressed with the fast service, great food and the kid friendly environment. We ordered the Flaming Saganaki for an appetizer and the kids loved it. It was a wonderful beginning to our night. The Sangria was great and the kids loved their meatballs(with mint, may I add). I will be returning to this place again!!!
