History
Established in 2009.
The MyTown Music vision was inspired by founder, Corey Ferrugia, in 2009 as a response to the impact of budget cuts on arts education. MtM seeks to create a scalable and sustainable solution that caters to artistic growth and education in our communities. In a 2011 Study released by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, Arizona ranks second to last in school spending. In fact, school spending per student in Arizona has decreased with inflation by 24% since the beginning of the recession in 2008. As we consider the current conditions of our education system, It has been argued that all government funded music education opportunities will be completely removed from public schools in America by the year 2015. Financial cuts to education directly affect the quality of education children and young adults are receiving, and our aim at MyTown is to provide an affordable, interactive experience to enable and encourage ongoing arts education.
