History

Established in 2002.

Kimberly Aguirre, owner, took over a small local dance program called Backstage Dance. This program was run out of the local community center on Continental Ranch. As this program grew, Kimberly decided it was time to get a space of her own. So in 2007 Pointe of Grace moved out of the community center and into a space located on Silverbell and Wade Road in Northwest Tucson. It didn’t take long for business to grow even more and the need arose again for a bigger space. In 2012 another move was needed. Still in Northwest Tucson, Pointe of Grace is now located on Twin Peaks Road between Coachline and I-​10. This new facility has 2 studios and plenty of room for more growth.

Business Owner

Kimberly Aguirre has been dancing since 1984. At age 6, Kimberly started dancing at Worley-​Ellis Dance Studio in Willcox, AZ. She never thought she would take her knowledge of dance and one day own her very own dance studio.

After high school Kimberly attend college at Pima Community College and Northern Arizona University. In 2000, Kimberly graduated with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and is an Arizona state certified teacher.

In October of 2003, Kimberly attended her first yoga training. After her 8 hours of community service she received her Level 1 certificate in January of 2004. Kimberly also obtained her certificate to teach prenatal/​post partum women, seniors, and Level 2.

In July 2009, Kimberly received her Basic 1 Zumba certification. She quickly expanded her training to Basic 2, ZumbAtomic, Zumba Gold, and Zumba Toning.

Adding to her certifications, Kimberly earned certificates in Lifestyle and Weight Management Coaching and Core Conditioning in 2011.

I can’t say enough about Pointe of Grace. My daughter has been through two seasons of dance at the studio, but it feels like I’ve known Mrs. Kim (as she is lovingly called by all her dancers) my whole life. She’s one of the sweetest, funniest, and most genuine people I’ve ever met just generally speaking, which I think reflects in how fast her classes fill up. Not only is she an incredible teacher who has a unique way of connecting with kids and relating to them, but she’s just darn fun, and I look forward to taking my little one to class each week. There is such an incredible balance here of learning good form in dancing, but in a way that isn’t at all strict or boring and repetitive — it’s 100% smiles and laughter. All of the other teachers we have interacted with as well (we love you Ms. Amy!) have been great people who always make you feel welcome. It’s a studio that feels like home, not über competitive or stuffy and formal.
I’ve heard some scary stuff about other studios around town from other moms (i.e. ridiculous fees for classes, costumes, etc., unfriendly staff, unfriendly parents, poorly organized recitals) and am so, so very grateful that I stumbled first into Pointe of Grace and didn’t have to have a bad experience anywhere else. Kim goes out of her way to keep costs minimal and recitals are run like a well-​oiled machine. My daughter is seven and getting to watch their older dancers during the 2014 recital was so cool — I can’t think of a more nurturing supportive way to come up through a young dancing career.
If I sound like some kind of semi-​stalker fan girl, that’s because I am. Don’t go take your kids anywhere else!

Our family loves Pointe of Grace! They offer dance classes for my girls, adult dance classes as well as fitness classes. The classes are fabulous, the teachers are the best around and their pricing is fair and competitive! We’re so happy to have found our dance home at Pointe of Grace!

Pointe of Grace offered a great Groupon over the holidays for a month long Zumba pass and by the looks of it, I’m not the only one who thought so.
I’ve been to a few classes thus far and I have to say that Kim is a fun instructor that keeps me entertained and sweating. The dances are fun and there’s a wide range of people there. On occasion, Kim seems to lose track of where in the dance we are and give the wrong instruction. But, she is able to correct herself quickly. And I must admit that if I had to memorize that much choreography, I’d probably forget as well.
The Zumba schedule is kind of limiting and I really wish they would offer more classes on the weekends, when I actually have time to go.
