Precision Door Service

Just great service, fast and honest. After hitting the door with my car the night before, a recommendation of one family member and their free estimate was decisive to chose them in first instance. I care a lot about spending any dollar, if their estimate was going to be too high l would try another company. Anyway, Josh (the technician that came) did a great job, he was extremely professional, worked fast and the final price was l believe the best you can find, and also well earned.
Thanks for change what was a big problem for me into a fast, well priced and well done service.

Just moved to Tucson into a home with a ‘lifetime guarantee’ from Precision on work they did less than 4 years ago, cables, rollers, springs, a ‘major overhaul’ the paperwork states, all in all $ 525. (For the same service I had done by Wayne Dalton in Phoenix for about $ 225.) So of course it’s not working now even after a ‘major overhaul’ and the ‘lifetime guarantee’ is not transferable. Used a 5* company on Unilocal instead instead, they were great and their tech said «don’t want to badmouth the competition, but Precision is the most expensive by a long shot in Tucson, they all work on commission and try to get at least a thousand out of each call.» Yeah.

Like the other reviewers on this site, I’d recommend you go elsewhere. All I wanted was an additional garage door opener and Jared, the «service» person proceeded to try and upsell me to an over $ 1,000 fix to my garage door (a fix, not any type of replacement to the door). When I refused the additional services, he proceeded to tell me how he’d hate for my kids to get hurt in the garage door and how the door is so heavy to lift (which he says as he’s lifting the garage door with 2 fingers). I opened it no problem and his response was «Wow, you’re strong!» Please. There’s a reason the garage door isn’t too heavy for the average person to lift – it’s called product liability.
When I told him I’d probably get it done at some point but not now since I just had windows installed, his response was, «You’re willing to spend $ 10,000 on new windows but you won’t spend $ 1,000 on something that is a safety issue?!» Really, that’s the response I get to «no»? How insulting and rude. Plus, I didn’t spend anywhere near that amount on windows.
He originally quoted me $ 49 for the extra garage door opener. But when he’s filling out the invoice (and I can tell he’s annoyed he didn’t make the sale), he says it’s going to be $ 140. I was surprised since he’d been at my house for all of 10 minutes. He then proceeds to tell me that the garage door opener is $ 65 and says snidely, «What, do you think we work for free?» I told him he had quoted $ 49, and he acted like he’d never said such a thing. I told him to take the garage door opener back. When I asked him to clear it so it wouldn’t open my garage door, he warned that doing so would clear my garage door opener. I said, well, are you going to put it back the way it was? And he did, VERY begrudgingly. He acted surprised that I wasn’t going to let him leave with a garage door opener that was programmed to open my garage door.
Don’t be fooled by these guys. When Jared came to the door, he winked and smiled and I’m sure he thinks he can prey on the unknowing housewife to just let him pressure you into a sale. And if you do use these guys be sure to get a quote or estimate before he does a thing. Jared will try to pressure you into doing way more than necessary and will try and pressure you to buy (and will get started with the work) so that you will feel obligated to just pay for the service. Oh, and I found the exact same garage door opener online for $ 18. Nice 300+% markup.

After an accident that left my garage door hanging, I called to see about same-​day service. I was assured the technican would arrive — just to close the door — within a 2-​hour interval that was only 45 minutes away. I was pleased with the promised fast service and low cost. Thirty-​minutes AFTER the two-​hour interval and on my second follow-​up call, I was told someone was «on their way». In another hour and after considerable confusion and a dramatic, unprofessional calls from the technician, I was told the «issue» was resolved and someone was «on their way». The technician called again with another long, dramatic, unnecessary story and promised to arrive in 30 minutes. He was late and then wanted to bill me for an «emergency call»?! After an hour’s worth of work, the door is still not shut. This whole experience is going to cost me over $ 200! In total, I would not call their service excellent nor reliable as their on-​hold jingle professes. I certainly hope they are not the best that Tucson has to offer. I will not be calling them back for the door repair or replacement — that is for certain.

Precision was very prompt and friendly when they came out. I was quoted a price of $ 700.00 (plus tax) just to replace my torsion bar springs. YIKES! I was floored. That price seemed way out of line, so I called Wayne Dalton garage door. After the technician (and his supervisor) saw that I was on the phone with Wayne Dalton, they went to the truck and came back with a $ 100 discount which lowered the price to $ 600.00 plus tax. Wayne Dalton quoted me a fixed price for the springs and balancing over the phone at only $ 240.00 (including the service call and tax).
I personally cannot say anything bad about the work that Precision does (could be great). All I know is that they put the ‘bad mouth’ on all of the other companies doing the same type of work (that have much better reviews.) Precision even admitted to having the highest prices in town and suggested that I find an unlicensed tech on CraigsList if I was looking for a lower price. I thought that was very unprofessional. Precision didn’t really have fixed fair charges for each job. It seemed that they were basically just pulling numbers out of thin air, throwing them against the wall and seeing which numbers would not make me faint.
Bottom line. Always call around before making Precision your first choice for service. They may or may not do good work, but I do know that their price quotes could throw you into cardiac arrest :-)
BTW. The two stars is ONLY because Precision showed up on time and seemed friendly.
NOTE: Wayne-​Dalton Garage Door is no more. Name was changed to Nation Serve. I had to remove my five stare rating for Wayne-​Dalton because I cannot vouch for Nation Serve. Nation Serve hijacked my review for Wayne Dalton and made it look like my review was for them when I have never done business with Nation Serve.

I’m very surprised at these reviews as my garage panel repair went flawlessly. I called two other local shops before calling Precision. The first one never answered and no voice mail and the second one I spoke to was a lady who didn’t really seem interested in helping me.
When I called Precision, the gentleman (sorry, I don’t remember his name) was very friendly and quoted me a price on the spot. Because of work, I would have to schedule for Sunday and there were no extra fees attached for weekends.
Jared called me 20 mins prior to my 0800 appointment to let me know he was on his way. When he got there he and I talked shop for a couple of minutes and he answered all of my questions without hesitation. He was friendly and obviously was very experienced. He repaired my garage door in less than 30 minutes (needed a new strut) and went over his suggestions on future upgrades and things to look out for. Very professional and great customer service.
Again, I’m surprised at the previous reviews because that was not my experience at all.

Buyer Beware at Precision
Bought a $ 99.00 coupon (Groupon like) AAA offer for a garage door tuneup. Of course he
up sold me and frankly my garage ran smoother before all the new equipment. To boot, when the door closes there is enough room for snakes to slither through. Tom gave
me some B.S. story about it now being balanced, and to go to H.D. for a threshold. which
still isn’t a solution because there is still a large gap. I’ll never use this company again. And
if you’re smart, you won’t use them at all.

Precision door has an A+ BBB rating so i choose them for garage door rework. However, i certainly did not find the service to be near acceptable. The front office messed up my appointment 3 times which resulted in 3 reschedules. I asked for a manager to please call me about this scheduling problem, i think Craig is his name, and i never even received a call back! I will say however that my installer, Adam, was exceptional. He was very courteous and knowledgeable. Just fix the front office!
