I had a great experience with the Ina Road location of R&S Mattress. I had to find a new mattress, despite having purchased a high-end mattress with a ‘great’(20 year) warranty from the larger chain selling mattresses in this area. The warranty turned out to be a ruse and left me, just over two years later, in a bad spot with a failed mattress that was causing horrific pain in my hip and a budget problem, since the bad mattress had been extraordinarily expensive and was supposed to last twenty years. I stopped in the R&S shop with zero optimism, mainly to get a baseline and see what options might exist in my target price range. John impressed me right away — he was a good listener, well-informed about the mattresses, and an intelligent problem-solver. The details of my decision are probably too boring to relate, but suffice it to say that several hours later — after exploring a few other options(including a visit to another branch of R&S that was a profound disappointment due to a high-pressure salesman and floor samples that were so filthy that I was reluctant to even touch them), I settled on a mattress. Less than two hours later, it was in my home! It has been super comfortable and I owe the success of my purchase to John. Thanks for bringing options to Tucson where almost every other store has joined the«thanks for your money, now you’re on your own» chain. P. S. The follow-up. Embarrassing, but true. Turned out I had deluded myself and actually needed a softer mattress. I am so glad that John and Vern took so much time to educate me and help me find a better fit. Frankly, when I first went in, I assumed that, as salesmen, they were«the enemy» — meaning that I shouldn’t trust them or I’d end up spending too much money on something that wasn’t right for me. I could not have been more wrong. I don’t know how the company structures their training and their commissions, but these guys are astoundingly well-versed in the minutia of mattresses and they are the polar-opposite of pushy. Vern took the time to look and let me know which mattresses were soft enough so that my spine was straight in the side-sleeping position and John took the time to explain how it is that people think they should buy a mattress that’s too firm because they imagine it will ‘break in’ after they get home(actually, as he showed me by using a floor model as an example, even after months of being tried out by people in the store, their extra-firm mattresses are still über-firm, so obviously, just sleeping on it at home is not going to lead to any noticeable change). What blows me away is how these guys remain so upbeat, personable, and attentive in order to make sure every customer gets what’s right for them, even when they have to make a comfort exchange(with the low prices they have, they can’t possibly be making any money after one of those!). They did this for me and, I hope I don’t get them in trouble by saying this, but they wouldn’t take any money from me for the replacement mattress and even though there wasn’t going to be one available until next week, they juggled something around and made it happen. Well, I said I wasn’t going to bore you with the details of my selection, but I was just so impressed with the experience I really wanted to make sure others had a chance to consider this store. Hey, if you’re getting your tires rotated at the truly awesome Discount Tire shop next door or if your spouse is haunting the Harbor Freight, think how relaxing it could be to slide into R&S Mattress and«just check it out» while you’re waiting! :-) I’m pretty sure your back and neck will thank you. P. P. S. With all the back and forth, we really got to know the head delivery guy, Gary, and hats off to him for being incredibly professional and pleasant. He called ahead(even drove out anyway the time I stupidly left my ringer off) and not only did he make sure the mattress and my walls were kept safe, but he had A-1 people skills and made sure that his assistant, a new guy, also got everything right.
