Rogo’s Finishing Touch

The star rating I am giving is kind of misleading. I give Rogo’s five stars for the two bedroom floors (totaling about 400 sqft) they did for us with stained concrete. Luis and his nephew Eric did the concrete work. The floors were prepared with three or four layers of skim concrete, with hand sanding between each layer and then buffing of the final under layer. Each time the layers were dried with fans, which took 30 – 45 minutes each time. I could tell the drying was sufficient because the concrete turned from dark grey to very light grey as it dried. A final layer was put on and hand sanded again lightly to leave the texture strokes. The base coats of paint were applied and then Luis asked me to come in and look at the color patch with tint he suggested. I asked him to show it to me a bit darker, which he did. I went with his original color, and the floors turned out beautiful. His eye for the best color to complement our saltillo floors in the rest of the house was perfect, and the sealed and finished product looks like fine saddle leather. Luis is truly an artist in concrete painting. I would always recommend Rogo’s for the concrete painting. (ps. I will update this if the finish doesn’t last. The work was done in mid-​December 2015, so if you don’t see an unhappy update, the floors are still fine!) Luis and Eric were friendly, professional, and talkative while waiting for the concrete layers to dry.
Rogo’s also cleaned and sealed the remainder of our flooring, about five times the sqft of the concrete work. This time the nephew Eric came with a strong friend to move the furniture and do the cleaning/​sealing work. Everything seemed to be going okay, and I saw Eric scrubbing the floors when they first started working. The floors didn’t seem to be given much time to dry before sealer was put on and they move to another area. It looked okay, so I didn’t supervise them (not my job) and they were done in one day. That surprised me. Gilbert the owner had given us an estimate of five to seven business days to do ALL the work, and this was finished at the end of day three! It looked okay with the shiny sealer on it in the late afternoon light, and I signed off on it. The next day when my husband and I were putting the house back together I was able to see the floors better and they had not been properly cleaned. I called Gilbert and he came out to inspect the floors. He called Luis out (he had not been at the cleaning due to family issues) and they agreed the floors needed to be re-​cleaned and sealed again. He told Luis to use a machine to scrub the floors. Luis and Eric came out the following week and totally redid the floors. They did the floor by hand again, Luis telling me they could do a better job on the edges and grout lines. This time the floor was wonderful. So although work had to be redone, it was done quickly and graciously and well.
I know from my previous work that it is difficult to find good workers who do not require any supervision, particularly at entry level (scrubbing floors and mop-​sealing them.) However, the buyer of the service should not be put in the position of supervising these entry-​level workers. And I don’t think scrubbing floors on your hands and knees is a good use of skilled artisans like Luis. (But I do give him all the credit for the great cleaning/​sealing job the second time.)

I’m a local real estate agent here in Tucson, so I have the pleasure of dealing with tons of contractors, not just for my own homes, but for my clients homes as well. I have to say I’m usually not impressed with their work ethic, communication skills, or sometimes the job itself. I work really hard to find good people to refer to my clients because I want my clients well taken care of, and Rogo’s, particularly Albert, is someone I would refer to my clients with confidence. I just remodeled my own home and had a string on contractors working on different projects here. None of the other contractors even compared to Albert’s service and care with our house. I had them do a cement overlay on the existing tile countertops, and they came out beautifully. They matched the color sample I found perfectly and went out of their way to make sure their work was done on time, correctly, and cleaned up before they left. I love my new countertops and I would recommend Rogo’s to anyone!

I was looking to install tile on my floors, throughout the house, so I called Rogo’s for an estimate. Albert came in to do the measuring, and I gotta say – he knows his stuff! Not only did he do what I asked of him (measured and priced for tile), he was so concerned and interested in what I truly wanted, that he soon realized that what I wanted (but didn’t know to ask for) was the concrete staining. We talked through it, and it truly was what I was looking for. (He also saved me a lot of money!)
I then stopped into the main office and Albert, himself, worked with me (for quite a while, I might add), to create the exact colors, patterns and look I wanted for my floors, choices I hadn’t thought about, etc. He was absolutely incredible in playing with the different choices, explaining the process, etc. Truly, he is one of the best contractors I’ve ever worked with (and I have worked with several!).
I absolutely LOVE my floors! They came out exactly as I hoped they would, and they’re holding up well. It’s so much nicer than the carpet I had, and easier to maintain than tile/​grout. While I don’t plan on moving for a while, if I do, you can bet that Rogo’s and Albert are getting my phone call. I loved what they did!

I’ve had floors and other concrete products installed in my home by Rogos. And I have nothing negative to say about the company or the staff. They were very professional from beginning to end of all the projects. I would recommend them and have to all my friends and family.

This place was recommended to me by my real estate agent when I bought my house last year. I wanted a replacement for the tired carpet and liked the polished concrete floors in my old place. I was told the concrete overlay was just as durable but afforded more color and design options. I had high hopes but sadly nearly 1 year on and I still hate these floors.
Firstly, the install crew didn’t bother removing the toilet or pedestal sink in the bathroom (or mention to me that I should). They splattered concrete all over my fixtures and didn’t even overlay behind them which left a totally exposed and obvious flaw. I had to clean them up myself and practically beg them to do it right.
Secondly, after they finished the job I was sweeping the floor and a large chunk of overlay peeled off. I even left the house empty for 1 week to ensure it was dry enough. Well, it took 2 months of calling and complaining to get someone over here to fix it. The fix looked horrible so they sent «their best» guy over to repair it and it still looks like shit. The owner even scheduled a visit to see for himself but no showed at the last minute.
Lastly, the floor is about as durable as an egg shell. It scratches and chips with even the slightest touch. For example, I dropped a tube of toothpaste on the floor which left a gouge.
I’m so dissatisfied in the flooring that I’m planning on covering it up with hardwood. I probably should’ve just done that from the beginning. Terrible flooring, terrible customer service. I’ll never recommend these people to anybody.

I was wanting to upgrade the floor finish on my cement porch and was told to check out Rogo’s. I’m so glad I did.
Their showroom has lots of examples of flooring styles, colors and textures. With their help it was easy to set up an appointment for them to see the actual floor, do the measurements, and set up a convenient work appointment. I knew exactly what I was getting.
Watching the guys lay out the faux flagstone effect and then rubbing in the color was fun to watch. They’re artists! I loved the final floor they created.
I would highly recommend Rogo’s if you’re looking at upgrading flooring inside or outside of your home.

We had Rogo’s come out to replace all the flooring in the home we had just purchased before we moved in. We have had tile in every home we’ve bought in Tucson, but I was so tired of the grout so I wanted to do concrete throughout. They did an excellent job on the demo and prep. The concrete floors are beautiful! We have dogs, and they love lying on the cool floors in the summer. I love not having to deal with grout. They are so easy to care for! We had great installers, they worked quickly and neatly and got the job done in a week! We are more than thrilled! Gilbert was very easy to work with and his communication was excellent. The price couldn’t be beat! I would highly recommend them.

This store was recommended to me by my real estate agent so I stopped by here one day since it was on my way and I had some free time and was looking for some new flooring.
I went up to the front door to go into the store… except that I couldn’t because the front door was locked. It was regular business hours so I called and called their phone number and it was a while before someone finally answered.
Finally someone came to the door and asked me if I had an appointment to view their store. Apparently customers need to make appts. with the store to go inside and view their displays. I said I didn’t because I thought the business was open to the public and I assumed the doors would be open for potential customers to come by and take a look at their products…
Anyway the lady was nice and let me in to look around. Their displays were lovely to look at and I thought a nice concrete floor might work for what I was looking for, so we set up an appt. for a free estimate. (Please note that the woman who helped me in the store was nice and answered my questions in a polite and professional manner.)
The guy who came out to my house to give me the estimate was rude and arrogant. The other word I’d use to describe him is «cocky.» (I really, really don’t understand this– why do salespeople come to my house and then proceed to behave so rudely and be nasty to me in my own home?)
He told me he’d give me all these discounts and «help me out with the price» (even though I didn’t ask for anything except a free estimate.) He said he’d send me the estimate within a day or two.
It never arrived. There was no follow up phone call or anything from them, and I didn’t bother calling them asking for the free estimate. If someone’s rude to me and then doesn’t send the estimate, I take that as a sign that they don’t want me as a customer.
Oh well. I bought my flooring from another store.
Then later I bought more flooring from the other store.
In the future I’ll be going to other flooring stores who seem to want my business a bit more and who have better service.
