Absolutely slowest checkout in Tucson. One cashier today and a long line. No baggers.I hear Safeway is becoming a Haggens sometime soon. It cant be worse than this place. OH_and panhandlers in the parking lot. A nice touch.

Dingy, narrow aisles and all-around unremarkable… yet, this is my grocery store of choice on the far-east side.
Since I’m trying to wrangle two preschoolers and shop at the same time, I have no idea how the prices stack up against the competition… somewhere between Wal-mart and Whole Foods, I’m sure. I have a shopping list, and I’m chucking stuff into the cart as fast as possible just trying to end the torture. The lines can be long, because there are usually only a couple of check stands open at a time. Out In the parking lot, it’s a toss-up between returning the cart and having CPS called on me for leaving the kids in the sweltering car unattended. You’re probably thinking, «Jennifer P, if you are so unimpressed with this store, why do you shop there?» Okay, okay… I’m getting there. The produce section is well-organized and offers a wide variety of organic selections. Also, the location is convenient for me because it’s the only grocery store on Houghton, until you get to Rita Ranch. Lastly, I’m a creature of habit and know where everything is. I’m one of those stubborn introverts who would rather circle the store ten times than ask for directions. And last but not least — it’s NEVER crowded — probably because it’s so lackluster — which makes it a winner in my book.

Any grocery store is better than walmart! It’s typical, pretty clean and has a Starbucks inside, yum! But the downfall is the parking lot gets crowded and lots of university students shop here in packs, making the line a long wait.

I really like this Frys. The prices are good. I really like the sushi for store sushi. Two things I might complain about: the parking lot is a parking lot of doom. And there are no places for carts.

With three major grocery stores within five blocks of home, it might seem like a tough decision where to go. Not for me. Safeway all the way, baby. They have a larger selection of fresh meat & better looking fruits and veggies than the other two places. Plus, you can’t go wrong with Safeway Select foods — budgeting is in, didn’t you know? Floral selection is nice, but the prices jump at major holidays. Check for the after-holiday selection. Last night I got stargazer lilies for $ 6.99.(Yes…I bought myself flowers… a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do sometimes.) There’s also a Starbucks inside with free wifi — anything free is pretty awesome nowadays.

Very«entertaining» grocery when shopping in the off hours — mainly after 9PM. Plenty of parking and near a McD’s. Interior was decent but they were out of a lot of things — as if a hurricane was coming. Granted it was 9PM and the stockers probably get rolling at 10 but still, don’t have the store look like it has just been looted. Overall decent.

This Safeway used to be really scary, not Fry’s 1st and Grant scary but still, and then they remodeled it. Now it is full of soiroity robots. They really all look the same, it’s like the opening credits of Weeds. It seems too expensive also, but it beats Albertsons.
