We serve the best old fashion Ice cream and classic comfort food!

We have been locally owned here in Tucson for 30 years! We make all of our delicious creamy 16% butterfat premium ice cream at our restaurant.

Obviously we are proud of our homemade ice cream, but we also have award winning burgers as well as sandwiches and salads. All this delicious goodness is served up by the friendliest staff in town!

Our feature flavors for the month of June are White Chocolate Chunk, Salted Caramel, Pima Colada (pineapple coconut) and Pistachio Peak.

History

Established in 1977.

Most people remember us as Swensen’s Ice Cream Factory.

At the end of 2012 we changed the name of our restaurant to Sullivan’s Eatery & Creamery and ended our relationship with Swensen ‘s.

Swensen’s had been at this location since 1977. We purchased the franchise in 1986. At that time there were over 400 Swensen’s franchises across the U.S. A. Today there remain only three (two with food). Sadly, it was no longer economically viable to remain affiliated with Swensen’s.

We have continued on with a very similar menu concept, similar coupons and customer specials, including our very popular «Meal Deal» as well as the same friendly staff who have been serving you.

As always, we continue to make all of our delicious creamy 16% butterfat premium ice cream at our restaurant.

It has been a great experience for us and we have met so many wonderful people these past 30 years we have been in the restaurant business. It hasn’t always been easy especially in the early years but it has always been very satisfying that we have been able to be successful despite whatever challenges we have faced. We couldn’t have done it with out customer loyalty, but also the fact that we have been blessed with so many good employees here! Thank you everyone!

This is one of our family’s favorite spots! My husband and I love to bring our son here or even just go by ourselves on date night. Service is fast and friendly and the atmosphere is nostalgic and adorable. My 7 year old son loves watching the train go around. I also forgot to mention… The ice cream is DELICIOUS! Great place for a meal or just a sweet treat. Highly recommend!

Our family loves coming here. This is where my fiancé proposed to me so needles to say or has a special place in my heart. The ice cream is amazing and made in house creamery style. This place is old timey and cute, perfect for families. Though, I wouldn’t recommend coming in huge parties. They have a signature flavor called ooey gooey chocolate that my husband turns into a child for. The owners are in everyday and are so sweet.

Went here after my Granddaughter’s dance recital to enjoy some ice cream! Loved the atmosphere and the service was outstanding and everything we ordered was fresh and yummy! My Granddaughter loved the train and her eyes got so big when her Sundae came out to her! Thank you Sullivan’s we will be back many times in the future

Come here for the ice cream, not the food.
Out of the 5 dishes we ordered, 2 were good and 3 so-​so. For example we ordered chicken tenders but was served Costco chicken nuggets if we wanted Costco nuggets, we could’ve had them at home. Also egg salad sandwich, bland and sad. Seriously, it’s egg salad not difficult to add a little bit more flavor to that.
Enough of my criticism and let’s get to the good stuff-​dessert!
Home made ice cream was amazing! Creamy and tasty –delicious!

In regards to Mr Sullivan’s reply to my review, I can detect a bit of sarcasm and lack of understanding of how to deal with criticism. I did look at some of the past reviews and it seems that you give your 3 star or less a bit of your special sarcastic replies. I don’t give credit when I feel it isn’t warranted. Rather than rebuking your negative critics, maybe find what is truly lacking and see where an improvement can be made.

So in love with the diner style of this place! Popped in after taking our puppy to the vet near by expecting it to be a small little place. It was packed! So many people enjoying good food and ice cream! We were seated almost instantly, served and had drinks in no time! The coleslaw was to die for! The burgers perfect! My daughter and I couldn’t say no to the Heathbar crunch Sunday, and it did not disappoint!
We will certainly be back again!

If it’s not known already I am a FIEND for icecream! Sullivan’s has been on my list since moving here almost three years ago, it’s just 45 min away… So after eating sushi and really not needing or having room for dessert the group decided on icecream… How could I resist.
The atmosphere is very casual while being inviting, I just LOVE that there is a whole menu dedicated to icecream and its ready for you at each table.
The prices are pretty awesome for the amount offered, about $ 5 – 6 each item but you’re talking about icecream made in house, well portioned, with most specialties offering three toppings: whiled cream, nuts, a cherry like.
Hubby was basic and made his own dish of French vanilla icecream and caramel. It was good, it could have used more vanilla bean.
I had the brownie a la mode with peanut butter but subbed Heath bar icecream. It was also good but I was disappointed there wasn’t more of the Heath bar present. The brownie was supposed to be hot but it was not in the least but I enjoyed the crunchy exterior/​edges plus the crunchy peanuts was a nice touch. They served it with straight peanut butter on the side that was a bit too much, I think was supposed to be the peanut butter sauce?. Not quite. I’d like to go back and sample some more delights but there are better ice creameries in town

Went on a busy Friday night. It wasn’t well organized. We waited about 15 minutes in a scattered line until we figured out where to order a Sunday to go. No employees tried to assist us. All the customers were trying to figure out how to order too. The lady at the register gave me the wrong change. Sunday was good though. Perfectly adequate. It hit the spot at least but it was a little pricey at 6 bucks. It was packaged in a styrofoam cup. Tough to share

The décor hasn’t changed at all in 20 or so years. The food isn’t great but the ice cream is enough to go in for. I miss when it was Swenson’s, but nonetheless the menu is identical and the ice cream is definitely the highlight of their store.

We’ve been coming here for years, back when it was still Swensen’s. We were happy to see it was still the same great place just a different name. They have incredibly creamy ice cream, it’s the best. quality meal deals and their parfait sundaes really hit the spot. Sometimes we just come in for sundaes and a side of shoestring fries. I don’t know why but it’s a nice combination, something salty, something sweet…
I had a really great experience here once I’ll never forget. My son really wanted to come and get a burger and fries, badly. I was watching my sugars, so I brought him and ordered his meal and I just had a cup of coffee. This older gentleman came over after watching us off and on and came over and said hi, made a little small talk then left. Apparently he picked up our tab on the way out, and had said no one should have to go without eating. It makes me smile just thinking about it now that 1. Tucson has some of the nicest people I’ve ever been around (and I’ve been all over) and 2. I realized maybe it was time to step it up a little on my appearance before leaving the house next time.
Always a great choice for some comfort food and some real old fashioned ice cream.

We are traveling through Tucson and found this inexpensive burger and ice cream place on Unilocal that came highly recommended. We came at a good time around 1 pm on a Sunday. But the place gradually got packed which is a good sign the locals love this place. All I can say is BURP! We all cleaned our plates: two adults and two picky kids! They had a meal deal offered through Unilocal for $ 8.99 that came with an ice cream sundae! Ordered that. Had a burger and added the extra cheddar cheese and mushrooms. So yum… Their potato salad was good and I am partial to good potato salad. My husband got the tuna sandwich and he said it was very good. My daughter got a regular cheese burger plain and my son got the hot dog kid’s meal that comes with a scoop of ice cream for around $ 3 something. What a deal! My son usually never eats his fries or decides not to order fries at all and he wolfed down all the shoe string fries in his basket.
Now going to enjoy their ice cream made on the premises!

The ice cream here is so rich! I ordered the gold rush and asked for hot fudge instead of the chocolate syrup and coco crispies on top for an added crunch. It was deliciousss. The décor is a little offbeat but works well for this place. I also love that they have some low fat options which sound just as great as the regular options.

Love their taro ice cream. I buy it by the half gallon. As the seasons change, they have new flavors. Love the peach ice cream in the summer. Whatever fruit is in season, they add lots of fruit.

Hamburgers made from beef ground daily at Dickman’s and cooked perfectly to order. It doesn’t get better than that. I like that the size of the patty matches the bun. Little things like that make a difference. My only complaint was that the bacon strips were a little soggy and limp. Hopefully, a one-​time thing.

We to Sullivan’s yesterday for the first time. We got the $ 8.99 meal deal burger, fries, drink and a sundae (not a scoop of ice cream). I added cheese and bacon to my burger and my partner added grilled onions and mushrooms to his, I got string fries and he got the steak fries. The burgers looked plain (one leaf of lettuce, one tomato, 6 pickles (luckily they put 6 pickles cause I love pickles). I didn’t enjoy my string fries, they also put very little of the string fries on my plate. My partner on the other hand had a generous portion of steak fries and were delicious. The bacon on my burger was not fresh I could tell, it was very skinny bacon and fragile. Next time I go I will get steak fries and no bacon. I thought you got a scoop of ice cream like in a cup or bowl, I didn’t know you got a sundae. I even told our waitress it was our first time but she probably didn’t have time to explain cause she was the only waitress on the floor, she was super busy and I’m not gonna blame her at all, she was great. We did get an extra scoop each of ice scream for an additional
$.75 per scoop. The ice cream was creamy and delicious.
Although the burger looked plain and I had a small portion of fries it was enough food to fill me up, I even regretted ordering the extra scoop of ice cream.
We will definitely be back and next time I will know exactly what to order. Thank you Sullivan’s.

I, along with a couple of co-​workers decided to go to Sullivan’s E&C simply for the fact that this restaurant was on the list of The Best of Tucson. At mid week, we were not feeling too adventurous and just wanted to have something tasty and satisfying without breaking the bank. For once this week we were all on the same page about what to eat.
Once we arrived, we immediately checked in and received a coupon for the Hamburger Unilocaler Meal Deal for $ 8.99 which included the hamburger with your choice of side and a sundae — wow! It wasn’t to hard to figure out what we were going to order for dinner.
Our orders arrived hot and fast! It was apparent that after my first bite of the burger I made the right menu choice. The burger was cooked perfectly to order and was extremely juicy and super flavorful. The shoestring fries were crispy on the outside and tender and hot on the inside. I devoured my burger rather quickly and made my fries disappear just as fast. The experience was not over after that because part of the deal included the sundae with which I opted for the extra scoop at just .75 cents more. Everything was delicious, super flavorful and very inexpensive. A «NO BRAINER!»
This place was everything that we expected and more. Thanks to our server Jennifer, our dinner experience was a grand one! Way to go Sullivan’s E&C! I am now a true fan!

I have the best memories of this place, ever. Ever since I was a little girl, my mom and her best friend made this place a tradition to always go to with my sister and I. 20 years later we still do that. The quality hasn’t changed and the food is so good. Now that I’m no longer 6 years old, make money, and can drive a vehicle, my sister and I have embarrassingly gone there multiple times a week at times. The waitresses are so friendly and sweet. It got a little weird when they knew my order by heart, not on their part, but mine. I felt like a fatty going there so much! But I couldn’t help it. My strong addiction has subsided, but I still try and make it there at least once a month ;). Now that I’m writing this review I’m tempted to go get a super sundae. Ugh. YUM!

They have a veggie burger! That earns stars right there. Here are also a lot of toppings to choose from including green chile!
My kids love to come here for ice cream and we love the strawberry shortcake and root beer float. Kids grilled cheese is yummy but didn’t love the kids chicken nuggets. Niece said they taste like McDonald’s nuggets which is never a good thing.
Otherwise fun place to come as a family.

My mom and I were looking for somewhere with homemade ice cream in Tucson, and Sullivan’s popped up. We didn’t eat any actual food, but the ice cream was amazing! We’ve long talked about/​complained about the lack of good chocolate chip ice cream in the world — It all seems to be either mint chocolate chip or chocolate chip cookie dough these days — and Sullivan’s had amazing chocolate chip! Everything about our experience here was positive. The service was quick and friendly, and the ice cream was amazing. There isn’t enough homemade ice cream around lately, and Sullivan’s did not disappoint.
The only thing I would say it has as a negative is that if you live in central Tucson it’s a decent length drive to get here, but that’s going to depend on the person and it’s not necessarily the fault of the restaurant itself so…

This is one of my fave places to go with my wife. Great atmosphere. The ice cream is so bomb. I try to get something new every time, and tonight we shared the kookie dough kamotion which was awesome! The ice cream is really unique and gives a ‘50s vibe. Plus, the owner home makes her ice cream flavors.
I also really enjoy the food here. The sandwiches are perfect. The «Thunderbird» is so juicy but the sourdough bread gives a great crisp texture. The shoestring fries are pretty solid too.
If you want a challenge, try the Superbowl sundae by yourself (or share it)! Our bill with only ice cream is on average $ 12 and with food like $ 30.

Way too sweet and just slapped together… My fiancé and I came here after he movies to cap off our date night. The hostess girl was the only one not just sitting around. She did EVERYTHING except carry the ice cream to our table. We didn’t order food, but the consensus around us was that it was average at best. I ordered the Kookies and Kream Kommotion and it was way overly sweet. I understand it’s ice cream, but I maybe had 4 bites because it was just sickly sweet. The man ordered the caramel brownie peanuts sundae– also sickly sweet. I think it probably would’ve been good if we just ordered ice cream. But the sundaes with all the toppings and the copious amounts of fudge really just made everything way too sweet and unenjoyable.
The best part was the adorable little choochoo train going around the top of the section we were in!

Yum! Best tuna melt I ever had. I live in California and will miss this tuna melt. Hamburgers are one of the best around–
juicy and flavorful. IceCream is thick and creamy and what ice cream should be. Sullivan’s, please move to Carlsbad so we can eat your yummy delights all the time. Oh, I already crave your tuna melt.

This is a unique restaurant in Tucson that specializes in making ice cream creative. I love how they have so many different possibilities of dessert (how did they even think up of those ideas in the first place?) and I love going there with my friends after dinner. It is conveniently located so that people can eat dinner and then go in for dessert, but they also serve amazing burgers. It’s a great place for kids, teens, adults, and the elderly. The decorations create a retro «home» vibe.
