Tucson East MVD

First review I posted was actually for an emissions testing place. Got there at 11:20 got out at 1:00. Staff was nice and quick once you got to them. It’s the DMV not sure how many five stars they get. It’s better than a lot of the other ones around the country. No horror story here. Got my plates and sticker and should have my new license in two weeks.

Was here two times today. What can I say? This location is alas useless and incompetents as any other DMV location. Not sure if the employees here even have a high school diploma let alone a GED. Mindless slow zombies. Expect 3 hr waits.

Hands down better than any California DMV experience. I showed up on a Wednesday just before the lunch hour and there was a line looping around the check in desk. At first I was discouraged and a little bummed out by the idea of a looong wait.
In actuality the employees worked relatively efficiently and the line moved fairly quickly. However I waited another 20 – 30 minutes after that. One nice thing was that everyone spoke English. It wasn’t Disneyland shoulder to shoulder crowded like most DMVs either. There was room to breathe.
Not a bad experience.

These people are horrible after jobs and don’t care about these customers they don’t help anybody they just sit around and wait for the hours to pass collector check at the end of the week

I haven’t gone to the mvd in forever cause I always hated how long they took :/​but I eventually had to go so I went first thing in the morning and it was great ! I was in and out in 15 min!!! The lady was super helpful and everything went so fast! Maybe it’s cause it was first thing in the morning but still really appreciated not having to spend all day there.

They have express registration renewal! So didn’t have to wait 20+ minutes. I love technology. A lot of ppl at end of the month. Line was out the door. Get there as soon as they open at 8 and don’t wait til end of the month to do anything

I’m not a fan of this place, but they serve their purpose… most of the time.
This isn’t going to be a long review because there isn’t much to say. I got there, was seen with in minutes, and was a asked to sit again and wait for my number. I sit there for what seems forever (35 minutes) and I realised that they skipped my number. I go up to the counter and they send me to someone who I can only imagine was sitting in the back filing her nails. She was rude and kind of acted like I was bothering HER.
Not surprised. This experience is to be expected. Ugh.

I’ve been to other DMV’s in the state and had great service. I was disappointed that this one is different than there rest. Employees either are preoccupied with non-​work related things or have a negative attitude while on the job. Expect to wait a while because it serves a large area but also don’t have your expectations high on customer service.

This is a busy place every day. I know they say do not go in on Mondays and Fridays, but at this location I am always in there for at least an hour. So bring your phone, tablet or what ever you need to keep yourself busy while you wait.

To be perfectly honest, I’m not entirely sure if our trip to the DMV (who calls it «MVD», really?) was actually good, or if I psyched myself up so much for a downright awful experience, that anything would be good in comparison. Either way, the end result was a fairly easy and quick (ish) visit to the DMV.
This location is a little bit tucked away, but 22^nd and Sarnoff are clearly marked with signage to get you to the building/​areas you’re looking for. At the end of the road is the actual DMV building. There’s plenty of parking available, or at least there was plenty for today’s crowd.
As soon as you enter the building, you’ll probably be waiting in line to receive your number from the receptionist. She was nice and friendly to us, and got us on our way quickly. The building itself is pretty large, and it’s split in half, with some customer service windows on one half and some on the other half. We rolled the dice and decided to sit on the left side. Mostly because there were less people over there. Still, we listened to our share of crying by a child, but other than that, all was peaceful. We waited there for about 25 minutes. Not bad!
Our little gamble of going to the less populated side turned out to not be the side that we would be called to. Even though we jumped up immediately when we heard our number on the loud speaker, since we were clear on the other side of the kinda big building, we didn’t get to the window before they repeated our number on the loud speaker. Oh well.
At the first window, the employee there wasn’t actually able to help us, since she hadn’t yet been trained on what we needed (we were transferring a custom plate to a new car). Luckily, the employee at the window next to us had just finished with another person, so we moved over to her window and she had us on our way in 10 minutes. Again, not bad! Both employees were friendly, nice, and actually smiled! Definitely not how you picture a DMV employee, and actually, not what I experienced at the DMV on Shannon Rd in Tucson years ago.
We had our plates transferred and were on our way in about 45 minutes total. It wasn’t that busy there, and everyone was friendly and helpful. I walked out pleasantly surprised with the entire experience!

Well, it’s a typical MVD (why does Arizona call it an MVD and the rest of the country call it a DMV?). Crying babies? Check. People talkng on cell phones even though there are signs posted everywhere not to use them? Check.
Upon entering you see a receptionist who asks what you need (in my case I needed a new drivers license) and she had me fill out a form and bring it back to her, upon which I was handed a number and told to «Go to the camera, theycallyournumbertwice». Huh?
1)I didn’t know where the camera was, and I wasn’t sure if they would call my number, etc
2) At the camera, there was just a line of people standing around, so I got in line and was rudely asked «Was your number called?» Ugh! My mistake for not entirely comprehending her, but come on.
Okay, and WHAT is with these god-​awful pictures? Is it some rule that you HAVE to look like crap? Fix the lighting or something, please! I even put on makeup for this occasion!
They snapped my pic and then told me to sit down, my number would be called again and when it was called, a very nice older man helped me get my new license. $ 12 and some paperwork later he told me to head BACK over to the camera station where they would call my name for my new license.
All in all, not a horrible experience but I would have appreciated a little more explicit instructions. Also, beware that you will do a lot of walking back and forth so be prepared!
