Vantage West Credit Union

They wanted me to harass the GAP insurance company to get their money to them sooner. In the meantime, they wanted me to pay or they’d make my credit score suffer. When the GAP insurance called for a payoff, they told them the wrong amount and tried to get the money out of me. Don’t pick Vantage West. Pick someone else. Anyone else.

Honestly the worst bank I have ever had in my life. First off the website almost never works. Can’t get logged in and when I do finally get logged in first you always have to put in a code (never remembers to remember my personal computer is secure) second most links either take forever to load or don’t work. I have tried from multiple locations and devices so it’s not the my Internet connection. Then I have to transfer funds from my main bank account to the forced savings account with Vantage to be able to pay my car loan. (That can take up to 7 days to happen.) So when I try to make that transfer to pay my bill the link doesn’t work so i can’t get funds to your forced account. That’s a ton of stress because I have to fight to pay my freaking car payment and if your crap can’t work and I am late on a payment I can probably grantee you guy wouldn’t give a crap and hit me with fees. You guys need to first fix your website, then allow people to pay their loans with you from their normal bank accounts. Make it easy and painless for us to waste our money on you instead of making us have to transfer money to a savings account then transferring it to our loan accounts. I can’t wait to transfer this loan to my bank that knows what they are doing. Just simply horrible. By the way I trying to do one of your «secure chats» while I was logged on to get some help and it would only give me an error message saying I needed to be logged on to use that function…

I banked with this bank for 12 years. I am a veteran. Following a brief unemployment they closed my checking account without even speaking with me. I switched to USAA and immediately realized how much of my time and energy I wasted on this substandard financial institution. They really only exist successfully because they prey on young military members and students with auto loans. The quality of customer service I experience with USAA and chase make me realize how incompetent their system and employees are. Their online phone and mobile banking have glitches. I have been stranded before because of these glitches. If you qualify for USAA go with them for checking. If you don’t I highly reccomend Chase. If you want effortless banking this is not the institution you should rely on. I attempted to make a loan payment by phone today because I had trouble with the mobile and online banking. They told me noone from their loan department was available until 930 and they’d leave a message. Rediculous.

I don’t even know how Vantage West calls themselves a credit union. Credit Unions use to be a nonprofit organization and all these guys due it slip in fee’s without disclosing them to you. Of course, we all know you’re suppose to read the fine print,(that’s over a 1,000 words) and your loan officer should try not to be so much a car sales person but someone you can trust, and go over those delicate areas. They don’t and that’s only due to that’ll open up another can of worms.

I’ve been with this bank for about 5 years and our time has come to an end. I’ve seen fraudulent charges, funds mistakes, and now I’m overseas and am being charged an international service fee for damn near every transaction I make. Why the hell are you on a military installation but your business model doesn’t fit your clients? In the military, our business is traveling. Yes, there may come a time where we have to travel internationally. No effort has been made to contact me in regards to billing me 30 times a month for using my card. So many people/​companies out there profit from taking advantage of the military and Vantage West Credit Union is just one in the number.

After writing the last review, I was contacted by someone in corporate, who stated that they wanted to try to address my concerns. It just added fuel to the fire, since she not only iterated precisely the arguments I’d already been given (and rejected), but also added «facts» which were demonstrably false and easily validated (or not). This means that the problem is institutional, and not just at the branch.

I came in last week to close out my account. The guy sitting by the door (not even sure what his job was) kept asking me questions over and over about why I was closing my account. Mind you I only had a savings account. It was super annoying. I finally told him to stop asking me questions and just close out the account.

If you want a credit union that will take your money and treat you like a suspicious character when you want to cash a check or withdraw money, then this is the credit union for you.
My husband has been a member of Vantage West Credit Union since 1975, but last week, when he went into the Vantage West Credit Union at 801 E. Speedway to cash a check from his employer, he was denied any cash back.
They told him that because it was over $ 1000 that there would be a three to five day hold on the money. He asked them to call the issuer of the check and they did. However, the company was closed for the day. The issuer was his employer –a company in business since the 1950s.
He stated that he has his paycheck automatically deposited from this company and has a home equity loan with Vantage West Credit Union, as well as his membership loyalty. They did not care.
He asked for the check back after telling them that his relative had recently closed out an account with Vantage West Credit Union and took their money ($ 50k +) to Chase Bank.
They didn’t care about that either, but they were stunned.
We drove over to our Chase bank. We walked in, filled out a deposit slip, asked for cash back and he had his money within 4 minutes!
Oh, yeah, and the teller at Chase Bank bantered and laughed with us, hoping we would have a great day!

We have been with Vantage West for 12 years now and that is all about to come to an end. The last time we were attempting to get a home equity loan, the employee was rude, so we went elsewhere.
I had a problem with fraudulent charges on my card and through the whole process, the VWest employees have been anything but professional and courteous. It has been over two weeks since I received my new card and I still have not received a PIN.
Attempts to get one in one of the branches have exposed me to employees who seem to go willy nilly through the sign in list and help whomever they want regardless of whether others have been waiting longer.
They just don’t care anymore and that is a shame. After 12 years, I think we are done with them.

Great bank for checking and savings

Had two paid off auto loans with this credit union plus an account for many years and had the worst experience trying to get a third auto loan with them. Rude and disinterested — would never ever consider opening any other account with them in the future.

I love this little credit union. They are always super helpful, quick, and friendly. So much better than the big chain banks. Feel good about where you bank!

I had great experience with Technology Credit Union in California so when I came here, I wanted to use another credit union and support small local bank. So I went for Vantage West Credit Union. Little did I know it was a big mistake. As soon as we deposit our money into the bank one thing to another, problem to problems. They deposit someone else into my account and I had to wait for them to fix it. How do I know if my deposits were not go to someone else account? Some of the staff are nice but a few of them are just plain rude and not professional. I had 7,000 check to deposit, so they need to verify which was fine, but the way that latino woman questioned me made me feel like she was a police and I was her suspect or a prostitute. There I was giving them my money and got treated not professional. They should train their employees to treat their customers as they deserve so customers are happy and give them more money into their vault. Isn’t that no brainer? So I stopped deposit in person, I deposit via overnight deposit box and there was till problem, their machine got stuck and would not work. They asked to block my account for a couple of days and I was ok with that but over a week later my account was still locked. I came by and they said they fixed it. I went to the grocery store and still not working. I came again and it was still locked. You see the pattern here? Also, on the website when you want to view your transactions and want to have details on certain amount, there is no link or detail about the merchants, contact like other bank do. This is not convenience at all. It sure does add up frustration I have with this bank. I would not recommend this bank at all. I told someone that I had VWCU and she said «uh oh». She then told me all the problems her mom had to endure with this bank. They changed their bank.

I did banking here for a U of A club, I am not a fan of vantage west. They charged fees for everything, the tellers were slow and not very helpful. This location is a pain to get into and out of.
I’d take my money somewhere else

I have a auto loan through Vantage West and I got injuried on the job a month ago. I called the credit union to see if I could work out an arragement to either suspend payments for a couple months or pay the interest only for a couple months while I was out of work. I advised them that I had proof from my doctor about my extensive injury and I would be happy to provide them with the proof. After they took my information about my payments and income I was advised that, «it doesn’t appear that you will be able to make your payment even in three months so it doesn’t do us any good to help you now». I was shocked! I told the financial person that he couldn’t tell what would happen in three months any more than I could. I told him that I would be happy to pay the interest so they were at least getting that and I again was told that, «it doesn’t do us any good to get that if you can’t pay the full amount in three months». So… basically Vantage West would rather get NOTHING from you and take your vehicle back then attempt to help you and get money while you are in trouble. By the way… for the record… I work at a job that serves the communtiy and make 20 plus dollars a hour… so…I would have been able to make my payment when I went back to work full time. I wouldn’t use Vantage West for ANYTHING… they don’t care about making money… so much as screwing you over when you need help. Reminds me of the mortage companies and the problems people are having with keeping their homes.
