Western Dental

Friendly staff, but if you want to clear your schedule for a dental cleaning and check-​up, go to Western Dental. WTH, I was there for 3 HOURS to get X-​Rays and my 6 month cleaning. Also, the cigarette smoking dentist (he smelled) came into the room and didn’t even introduce himself for the first 3 minutes he was in there– they have one of the staffers do it for him? So weird and rude. I also had to sign at least 9 consent forms while I was there, and they run a credit check? Went to another doctor for a second opinion, as I was not trusting of the «assessment» I had done, and it turns out I actually don’t have cavities. I went from thinking I had 3 cavities to finding out I have none. They were shadows from linings of fillings I had done last year by a very experienced dentist. Very scary to think this guy would’ve ripped out the great work I had done. Bottomline: Super sketchy and strange… I had «cavities» but found another dentist and now I have none!
EDIT: FYI, I just called to get my x-​rays sent to a different office, and have to have a hard copy consent form sent in that they can only fax over. Usually, doctors offices are fine with a verbal consent. Ridiculous… I had to have them send the consent form via fax to this new office, I have to go in the office to sign it, then fax it back over, then have them email the xrays to the new office. I’m dying. Isn’t the year 2015? Western Dental LOVES to drag everything out from the dental appointments to trying to switch doctors due to long waits! How ironic.
Second EDIT: went to the new dental office (a much nicer place) and I did NOT have cavities. The western dental dentist thought I had 3 cavities but really they were linings from brand new fillings I had done a year ago. Wow!!!

Overall we have been very dissatisfied with Western Dental. My wife had a skin graft done by Dr. Lee. Initially we were of the understanding that this was being done in preparation for her to be able to have implants done later down the road which had been what she had initially made the appointment about. We were advised that the skin graft was needed because there was not enough tissue there for implants. The plan was to add the tissue and to fit a better bridge. Once this was all healed we were verbally quoted (nothing on paper) a price for them to ultimately do implants. Since she already had a bridge and we wanted to in the end have implants done we were convinced that she needed the skin graft and a «better bridge» before we could do the implants. I make this point because had it not been for the prospect of eventually having the implants done we would not have proceeded with the skin graft and new bridge as she already had a bridge that was working just fine.
To make a long story short the surgery was done and we had a series of complications with the new tissue taking. We had issue after issue getting ahold of anyone on the emergency line/​front desk line or getting in to see a dentist when a stitch broke and we could not get the bleeding to stop. We were told by the office that we just had to wait for the next appointment. We ended up in the ER reference the infection and when we finally went for a second opinion. The Western Dental dentist showed up at the second dentist office and made a significant scene. Stating that if we went to enough dentists eventually we would find someone that would say his work was poor. The dentist screamed and actually cursed at me because he was upset that the other dental professionals had treated him like «a kid with his hand caught in the cookie jar.» The dentist then told us that he had told us from the beginning that implants were impossible in her case. Which was the whole reasons that we had done the skin graft, to eventually get implants. The issue was not addressed to our satisfaction and the dentist only argued his point staying it was not his fault.
Ultimately we decided to go elsewhere. We felt like we were misled about the implants and ended up paying for unnecessary work. We were never called back reference our emergency line calls on two occasions after at least 7 phone calls. We felt like we did not get any response until we went elsewhere. We did not ever get a straight answer as to what was going on and the behavior of the dentist was completely unprofessional and in my opinion unethical. Please be cautious if going to Western Dental and make sure you understand exactly what your situation is. Do not let anyone pressure you into a procedure that you do not fully understand.

Dentists are not friendly, office staff is friendly but disorganized. Luis, a dental assistant, was very professional and kind and explained more to me than the dentist. He should become a dentist. The only reason I went here is because they offer interest free payment plans which is great.

I wouldn’t recommend my worst enemy to this place! Where do I start. First off the dentist is completely unprofessional and has no customer service or compassion for his patients. It was my first visit and I recieved no hello my name is Dr ??, no how can I help you today, nothing but a what do you need? Are you kidding me? What do I need? I’m sorry am I bothering you? Considering I will be contributing to your salary! Than he spoke all of 5 minutes and with some pretty uneasy findings on my xray no empathy no nothing! Basically asked me why i hadnt taken care of the issue and said it was too late. I had a few more questions to ask and he literally turned around mumbled something about extracting my teeth to the nurse and walked away. No thank you for coming in, the nurse will explain everything, I’m prescribing you some antibiotics for your infection, nothing!!! Just walked away! I got out of my chair finally after waiting there wondering what was going on. I told the front office staff what I had experienced and asked to speak to a manager. The girl in the front said she would get the Manager but she never came out instead she had the lady schedule me to see another DR for a second opinion. I didn’t need a second opinion I needed someone to treat me nicely with respect and compassion. I agreed hoping it would be a better experience. On my way home from the place I get a call and its the DR yelling at me saying that I lied to the front office and accused him of things he didn’t say. I couldn’t get a word in edge wise with all his yelling at me and telling me to go someplace else. I can’t believe I was called and harassed by a DR. I specifically also told the staff before leaving I didn’t want anything to do with that awful DR and he has the nerve to call me and yell on top of that! I’ve already called cooperate to file a formal complaint and will be calling the board of dentists to file a case on this DR who should have his license revoked. He caused me so much agony. The office staff were nice that’s about the only thing that went Ok. DO NOT step foot in this place!

Dr. Lee is awesome and one of the better dentists I’ve met. Easy to make an appt and get in for work, and entire staff very helpful and courteous. Only negative (and why only 4 starts) is I’ve had to go in three times to have a 3 wk temp cap redone (keeps breaking) until my permament one arrives, but they’ve got me in to replace such immediate all three occasions. A big thanks to everyone there.

Don’t go! When going to a health professional, yes even the dentist, you expect some professionalism and care. I had a wisdom tooth that needed to come out. My friend made the appointment for me after work. I called ahead like They asked to verify insurance. I still waited about forty minutes from my appointment to get seen then forever to see the dentist. Upon my five second exam he rattled some numbers off to the assistant who came back and said the procedures are going to be 1600! No explanation what was being done. During procedure dentist kept joking that he actually didn’t pay attention in class. Had one extraction then they scheduled the second extraction for another day. Why not all on the first day?! Canceled the second appointment to get a second opinion. They then harassed my friend because they failed to put my information in the computer. I scheduled a talk with someone about my account. I get there and they plop me in the chair and say they are going to finish the job. Do they ever listen to their patients? Or am I just a job to them?

Overall, I’ve had a good experience at this location. Each time being there I’ve had to sit and wait, but when is that not the case in a doctor’s office. My dentist happened to be quite the funny guy (though not necessarily a good thing to be laughing when a sharp drill is in your mouth). However, finding a dentist you like is kind of like finding a good recipe for broccoli. No matter how delicate the way it’s prepared, it’s still broccoli! We all know the same goes for dentists: how well can you really like the person uncomfortably digging into your teeth and gums?
Quick side note: I have a proposition– next to the word «oxymoron» in the dictionary, add an example of «fun dentist»
Here is the one downside of this place. If you need to get your wisdom teeth removed, go somewhere else. I went in for this procedure assuming I’d be all drugged up or put to sleep so as to not feel anything. I even signed a paper saying a local anesthesia would be used. Turns out they don’t actually use it. A couple shots of novocaine to the gums is all I got before they began. THAT’S IT?! Granted– I didn’t feel any pain (well for the most part…) but come on you are tearing into my gums and ripping out 4 teeth. I don’t care how much novocaine they shot into my mouth it was easily the most uncomfortable hour of my life. No pain, sure. But that doesn’t mean you can’t feel/​hear the grinding, the vibrations, the hard pressure, etc. Not to mention the guy dropped one of my teeth down the back of my throat forcing me to just swallow it. On the bright side I was told it had some nutritional value!
