I became a Certified Fireplace Inspector in 2003 through a school known as

I renew my certification (FP-​045) every 3 years by written examination.

We preform all three Levels of Inspection as per NFPA 211 guide lines

Terrible business practices.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me 3x, I write a really bad Unilocal review.
I had set up an appointment with Chimney Sweeps LA for noon on a Friday. Got an email from Mike saying that another job had problems he needed to fix and that he couldn’t make it. Okay. I understand– Stuff happens. We set up a new appointment for 1p Sat.
Come 130p Sat– no Mike. I email him asking for an update. Nothing. At 2 I call him. No answer. Then I get a txt saying he’d emailed me that morning (I never received one) and that he couldn’t make it —
He asked if he could come tomorrow (Sunday). He said he felt bad, and that he’d perform the inspections for half price. Okay. I agree.
Well, it’s Sunday — 2 ½ hours after our agreed upon appointment time he’s a no show. No email. No call. No text.
Thanks for wasting my time 3 days in a row, Mike.
Use anyone else other than this guy.

Had a great experience with this company! Called on Dec. 29th and got scheduled for the next day, the appointment was early, went smoothly (no hidden fees or service add ons) and he’s a very nice fellow! Highly recommend for all chimney related needs!

Set up an appointment and this clown never showed up or even had the courtesy to call and cancel appt.
That’s unsatisfactory and unprofessional. A total fail and flake all the way. Horrible business practice with clowns at the helm.

I called and spoke to Mike and he acted as if he had great concern for my needs. Two small kids and a troubled chimney that was pouring creosote down for some unknown reason.
He did not show up at the appointment time, he did not return my calls either on the day of the appt or afterwards.
Complete flake as far as I can tell.

NO SHOW for a Confirmed Appointment!!! Tried to contact Mike and like many have said on prior reviews, he rudely dismisses your calls and texts with no reply.
Believe that this is how Mike works and that the constant negative comments seem to be more consistent than his work ethic and business etiquette. There’s only so many times a person with character can make excuses for the same reason until you’re known as non-​credible person.
Know that this review is not for his work ability/​craftsmanship, since no service was actually provided.

Mike is very professional and does a great job at a fair price. Other people I’ve spoken to seem to try and up sell me and that’s not the case with Mike. He shows up on time and has all the latest equipment. I would highly recommend Chimney Sweeps LA.

Add me to the list of frustrated. I had a very satisfying first phone call, and after a back and forth exchange by e-​mail, we had an appointment in place. On the appointment day, he was a no-​show. After 45 minutes past our arrival window time I called, sent an e-​mail, and a text. Nothing. That night I called and left another message and another follow-​up e-​mail. Two days later… Nothing.
If you’re this busy, then business must be great,… hire a part-​time assistant if for nothing else other than to return customer calls. Inexcusable!
Readers, decide for yourselves,… seems to always be a «reason» why whenever a negative review is posted.

Why does this Mike guy pretend to be in business? Initially took my call and said he could install a damper and spark arrester. We set up an appointment and he flaked. He apologized and we set up another appointment. He did not show up again. We set up two other appointments that he also did not show up for. If he doesn’t want to do a job and make $$ he should close his damn business and quit wasting people’s VALUABLE time! Don’t WASTE your time with C.S.L.A!!!

I called Mike after reading his Unilocal reviews because I needed a custom-​sized cap for my 1930s chimney. He came by and looked at it while I was at work, and sent me several emails showing caps he found that would fit – all without any commitment from me. He quoted me a fair price, and told me he would also fix some cracks into the cement cap, which I had wanted to get done. He began the work, and in the middle of the job got sick (had to be hospitalized). He had an associate come out and button up the job.
I also ended up having Mike do some flue work that needed to be done. He quoted me a reasonable price, and when it took less time, he reduced the amount to 20% of the original quote. This was a pleasant surprise.
Although the job didn’t go as quick as I wanted due to Mike’s emergency hospitalization, he is honest which is more valuable. I would use him again.

We then tried for one and ½ months to book a follow up appointment to no avail.
He canceled on us once, no-​showed twice and it took repeated calls and emails to get any kind of response.
Very frustrating customer service. We will proceed with another Chimney Sweep.

Not reliable. Took Mike a while to return my first call but because of the other good reviews, I decided to give him a chance. He seemed friendly when we spoke. Don’t bother. He never showed up to the appointment and then never returned my 3 follow-​up calls to find out what happened. Seems to be a pattern if you look at the other reviews. Chimney Sweeps L.A. is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by this customer. They were professional, reliable, and reasonable. Mike Flynn and his co-​worker went out of his way to make sure that our 2 fireplaces were not only clean, but also gave us many safety tips. Mike even helped us restore our fireplace screens which were rusted and not in good working order. We can’t recommend him more highly as a professional… and a very nice person.

We’ve lived in our home for over 20 years and never had the chimney cleaned. When we began smelling a smokey odor in the living room, I called Chimney Sweeps LA. Mike and his co-​worker did a great job cleaning out all the residue. Surprisingly, there was no mess inside the house due to their vacuum system. And, the price was very reasonable. I had Mike come out to inspect and clean my chimney. First, Mike inspected my chimney and took some pictures. Mike is very personable and good at explaining to me the design and condition of my chimney. After he was done, he left my chimney clean and my living room spotless. If you’re looking for a good chimney cleaner, call Chimney Sweeps LA. Their prices are reasonable and I would definitely call them again.

I can’t say enough good things about Chimney Sweeps LA!
I purchased a 1928 home in Tujunga, CA with two fireplaces. I called a local Chimney Sweep co. that informed me that I needed a $ 12,000.00 stainless liner and all sorts of other expensive services before I could have a fire. I asked them «how much for you to leave?»
I then called Mike Flynn at Chimney Sweeps LA for a second opinion. Mike was friendly and professional and gave me a reasonable quote over the phone and agreed to come the following day. Later that evening he called back and said «I drove by the property and that second chimney is pretty small, so I am going to charge less for the cleaning.» Less? I had never had such a call…
Mike arrived in the morning and cleaned more soot out of my ancient chimney than he had ever seen. He was friendly, professional and did an amazing job! (He also clued me in on the previous cleaner’s hustle)
We ordered a half cord of oak firewood the next day and our chimney drew beautifully (and still does).
Since that time I have used Mike at Chimney Sweeps LA for other jobs that require masonry expertise, including the restoration of my historic cement thresholds.
Very, Very satisfied every time!
