Extended Stay America – Seattle – Tukwila

We booked this place for a few nights because our house was on the market and we wanted to be out with our pets so people could walk through it. We have never stayed here before but we have stayed in other «suite» style hotels (with kitchens, etc).
We checked in a little early and the staff was very accommodating, but our first room reeked of cigarette smoke in a supposedly non-​smoking room. We asked to be moved. We were moved to another room which didn’t smell like cigarettes but did smell of chemicals (probably what they use to cover the smoke smell). The room is NO frills. No extra blankets, no dishes, not even a full roll of toilet paper (and no extras, either). The bed linens were very thin and overall the room was just very uncomfortable.
The noise level is unbelievable. You can hear every move people make in other rooms and outside. You can hear the nearby highway. And we listened to a dog bark next door for at least an hour. At about midnight, we’d had enough. We looked to see what else might be available in the area. The Home 2 suites just a few miles away had a room for only $ 5 more per night. We booked it right away and fled the Extended Stay at 1 AM. We didn’t even make it a full night. The differences between these two hotels could not be more extreme. Home 2 is quiet, and clean with many amenities and actual toilet paper!
They did refund the rest of our stay, which was prepaid. We left not knowing if we would have to pay for all three nights or not. But honestly, we didn’t care. I cannot imagine a circumstance where I would stay at this hotel again.

Do not stay here!!! If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. My husband’s company put us up here for 30 days for corporate housing. They paid $ 102/​night, which is way too much for the quality of this place. We called ahead to let them know we would be checking in around noon, but when we got here, they tried telling us our room wasn’t ready. I have never walked into a hotel room and felt the need to clean it, but I ended up cleaning it on my own. The shower was moldy and there was dust everywhere. We didn’t really have a choice to leave for another hotel. The beds and pillows are uncomfortable and completely grossed me out to the point that I took off their comforter and are using blankets we had from our move. The «dishes» that they gave us were moldy and I had to wash them on my own… only keeping a few necessary ones. The reason we got placed here was because it was «furnished» and we were able to cook here. In the 30 days, I have only cooked one time because it’s horrible!!! After being here for 2 weeks, I opened the desk drawer to find a pair of dentures that were left there… words don’t even describe this! And to top it off, the front desk didn’t seem to freak out, nor did they send someone up to retrieve the dentures. I did get the name of Bonnie, the GM at corporate in the area and she called right away and sent someone up to come and get the dentures. This place is disgusting and makes me never want to stay at ANY Extended Stay America ever again!!!

I’ll give two stars ONLY because the front desk guy had outstanding customer service. I booked non smoking and my room smelt like smoke BAD, the bath tub/​shower had hair and soap in it from the last people, and the bath room floor and floor by the kitchen was Horriable… I got on hands and knees to clean it my self and there was food spilt still on it and my towel was dirty like it hadn’t been mopped in a three weeks.

Everyone was nice, but they didn’t clean my room as scheduled and they were always out of pots, pans, dishes, etc. After not cleaning my room on the scheduled day, they put off cleaning it the next day until all the other rooms had been cleaned. I had my pet kenneled all day for two days so they could clean the room when I wasn’t there, which they didn’t do. When the maid finally showed up at 6pm a day late, she hussled and was nice. But come on, this was unsatisfactory. On a separate occasion I was also told I hadn’t received any mail, but come to find out they just hadn’t check the mail that day. Only after I said I had a delivery confirmation did they actually check the mail, which had arrived. As far as pots and pans go, they said they didn’t have any — but as it turns out they just hadn’t washed any from previous guests checking out. I was surprised they admitted as much, but the girl behind the desk (who was nice) at first said they didn’t have any then changed her story. When she later brought me pans and dishes she admitted this. Really? She brought them to my room, which was super nice, but why not clean them in the first place so they’d be available for the guests? Not a well-​run place, but like I said, everyone was nice even if not helpful.

I should have read the reviews before I booked my room. They charged $ 25 a night per dog — it did not say this on the main website. So I ended up paying $ 130 a night for a substandard room that smelled like smoke and pee (i requested a non smoking/​non pee room). The guy at the front desk was nice but alone and overwhelmed. I requested some dishes etc and received a random selection of things, like one fork etc. The main website said oven/​full size kitchen and it was not. The satellite tv worked off and on. Internet speed was ok – don’t pay for faster wifi, seems like a scam. Laundry on-​site was nice, however most of the washing machines were out of order along with the dish detergent dispenser. Didn’t see an issue with crime or noise. I know the area and it’s convenient for shopping/​food etc. Not many delivery options. I won’t book here again, but it wasn’t the worst experience ever. They also charge a $ 100 deposit fee for possible damages done to the room after check out — you get the gist of the clientele they are used to.

Extended stays are no 5 star resorts but I’ve been in a few in multiple states, especially before we discovered airbnb and this one is pretty much what I expected. Difference here is that you ask for any utensils you would like at the front desk instead of them already being stocked in your room. I grabbed a coffee maker and cups at check-​in, no problem. There was a young girl working front desk (didnt catch her name but she was cute and had curly hair and I think an arm tattoo?) and she was on top of things and super friendly. She even called a few minutes after we checked in to make sure everything was ok with the room, which it was. This was a last minute decision to stay here due to a change in our trip and I got freaked out after checking Unilocal reviews, but our room was clean and I never really felt unsafe, there wasn’t weirdos walking around, I even saw some families, and besides a couple of the cars parked in back that had rims worth more than the car there was no sign of sketchiness. For such a cheap stay it was fine. Everything was clean, plenty of towels and no strange smells. Lots of restaurants about 5 – 10 min away and a gas station about 2 min away which made it a very convenient stay.

The Good: The staff has been very friendly and having just transferred to this area the manager allowed me to have more than two pets in the room. It’s very conveniently located to the South-​Center shopping area.
The Not so Good: The area the hotel is located in is pretty sketchy. The rooms along the back literally have a view of the highway and you can certainly hear the traffic. During my two week stay, I saw cops here twice. The rooms are older and pretty beat up looking. It’s cheaper than most hotels in the area but you kinda get what you pay for.

One of the most GHETTO hotels I have EVER been in. The room was dirty when we arrived and while I was checking in a cop walks into the lobby and says to the girl behind the counter, «Can I speak with you in the back real quick?» That should have been my first clue. The best part of the hotel was the fact that they allowed me to cancel my stay.

Had to give a quick review after reading all the bad reviews. Been staying here for 2 days so far. Room is clean and no complaints. Maybe it used to be crappy, but seems fine now. Staying for 2 weeks, will update if anything bad pops up.

Oof, where to begin? I guess with the three (small) positives. One, the woman working the front desk the night we checked in (I think her name was Stephanie?) was very nice and accommodating. The first room we were given was on the second floor and we were informed the elevator was out of service.
So we get to the first room and it STINKS of cigarette smoke. I mean… whoa. It was intense. It smelled like someone had been chain smoking in the room for an entire week despite the «No Smoking» sign on the TV. I immediately called down to the office and the woman apologized and said she would give us a different room right away. We were given a free «upgrade» to a bottom floor room. Honestly, this room was no prize but at least the smell of cigarettes, while still mildly present, was barely detectable. Which brings me to the second (small) positive that this room had a vinyl/​pleather recliner which was a step up from the ratty chair in the second floor room.
The third (small) positive is that it’s relatively cheap. At least compared to other motels in the area. We were there for four nights and the total bill came to approximately $ 300 with taxes.
As for the negatives, they are plentiful. As others have said, the location is majorly sketchy. It’s dark, there’s many people just hanging around outside, and we could hear people coming and going all hours of the day/​night. It does not, in any way, shape or form, look like the pictures on the website.
We also had to call down to the office after getting to our second room as there were no pots/​pans. The front desk woman apologized and brought over what appeared to be brand new cookware. That was nice. The problem? They weren’t non-​stick pans and the room comes with NOTHING. No cooking spray, cooking oil, butter, salt/​pepper, nothing. Zero. Which made it pretty darn impossible to cook until my wife made a trip to Target to get some basics. We brought food with us but even the most run-​down, flea bag motels w/​kitchenettes we’ve stay at on the Oregon coast have come with a few basics such as cooking spray.
As others have mentioned, this place is *dirty*. My wife even went so far as to buy plastic forks because the flatware was so grubby and there’s no dishwasher. There were still hairs in the bathroom, food crumbs in the bed, and what appeared to be a small, dry, crusted lump of poop on the carpet. This place is pet-​friendly so who knows.
The maid service here is pretty dismal as you have to pay extra for it unless you’re staying for more than a week. It looked like someone had just made the bed right after the folks before us checked out. No changing the sheets or cleaning the bathroom or checking that the flatware was clean or anything. My wife slept in her jeans and sweatshirt every night because she was afraid of the bed.
My advice is to spend a little extra cash on the DoubleTree or something. Seriously. But if you absolutely MUST stay here because of the price, I’d strongly recommend the following:
1. Request a first floor room.
2. Bring Clorox wipes and be prepared to wipe down the bathroom yourself.
3. Bring plastic forks/​spoons, cooking spray, and salt/​pepper.
4. Bring a sponge as the tiny little dishrag they give you makes it impossible to clean the cookware.
5. Bring a large blanket or two so you can sleep on top of the bed.
Yeah. This place is rough.

I have to agree with the other reviews.
Our bathroom was still dirty from some guy shaving. whiskers in the sink!
Smelled heavily like ciggy smoke and rancid cooking oil. it has a tiny kitchen wall but we didn’t use it.
The bed was terrible-​I woke up with an aching back.
We only stayed here because there wasn’t any other place with rooms near the Tacoma Dome left.

This place sucks, do not go near!!!

First of all it’s tucked under I-​5 and next to a Lovers lingerie/​sex shop, but close to the mall area and some chain restaurants. Just driving into the hotel parking lot gave us the creeps. People hanging out by the cars smoking, the building itself was dilapidated and dirty. The area is dark and not well lit. We made reservations weeks in advance from their website based on some pictures submitted. The front desk girl was nice, the weirdo hanging out in the lobby as we were doing credit card transactions, not so nice. We reserved a NON smoking queen suite for 10 days. Let’s say it did not look like the pictures at all. They gave us a smoking room (sign said NON mind you) and the room was small & dirty. Stains on the bed, the «kitchen» area had not been cleaned, plus we couldn’t breathe due to the amount of smoke left behind. We asked the front desk girl to check it out and she was blown away by the odor. The only other room available smelled like CURRY! The poor girl was trying to douse it in air freshener. No no no, it was so bad. We left within the hour of arriving, full refund and out as fast as possible. Go to the ESA in Shoreline, North Seattle, it’s so much better. Clean, private, big, a little more expensive but so worth it.
