DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Tulsa – Warren Place

Recently stayed at the Doubletree Warren Place over Christmas on a 3 night trip back to Tulsa.
Being from Tulsa, many of our out of town relatives have stayed at this Doubletree in years past, and I’d been inside for various events throughout my life.
I have to say, the property has definitely gone downhill from what I’d consider its peak.
PROS
— location is great. Really like the Warren Place corporate campus. Beautiful views and trails surrounding the property. Convenient to pretty much anything in South or Midtown Tulsa.
— parking. I was there on a holiday, so I’m sure it was more vacant than normal. However, it was very easy to get in and out of the attached parking garage. I liked the fact that in inclimate weather, you don’t have to go outside to get to your car.
— lobby. Lobby for hotel is still fairly nice and quiet
CONS
I am a Hilton Diamond member. Upon arrival, the agent did give me my breakfast vouchers and two coupons toward a ten dollar appetizer in the restaurant since the executive lounge was closed that week. However, she did not acknowledge my Diamond status or thank me for my business. It also said in my check-​in email they’d upgrade me based in availability. The hotel was clearly not full, but there was no mention or attempt at a room upgrade.
On the 9^th floor (executive floor), there were two large Home Depot buckets sitting in the hallway with some used rags and a tarp covering a portion of the ceiling like they were repairing a leak. This was two doors down from my room.
I went downstairs to the desk again to tell them about the buckets later that day and asked if they’d be gone or what was going on. The staff didn’t even apologize! They just said, we can move your room if you want. They moved me to the other side of the 9^th floor — again, no apologies or anything. Kind of surprised by that as a Diamond.
Rooms. They’ve done a few updates over the years, but the rooms have a very 80s configuration. Nothing luxurious at all, just an outdated feel. Carpets in hallways and rooms looks like it really needs to be replaced and on the executive floor, all the doors and door frames for the rooms, hallways etc all look kind of beat up like they need a fresh coat of paint.
Breakfast. I was disappointed in the breakfast buffet downstairs. The view from the Duck Club is nice; however, I have stayed at Hilton Garden inns with more breakfast choices. Both days I went, they had fruit, oatmeal, French toast, biscuits, gravy, potatoes, bacon, sausage, and some pre-​packaged muffins and bagels.
I wish they’d offered more hot options like waffles, pancakes, hot syrup etc. just seemed like the bare minimum buffet style breakfast — nothing that great.
Overall, this wasn’t a terrible property, it has just seen better days. They really need to train their staff more on Diamond and apologizing if the guest comes to the desk with a concern. They also need to do some renovations.
I would only stay here if you get a good price. Otherwise, I’d stay at the Mayo or the downtown Hyatt.

A nice hotel. Rooms need an update. Stayed here twice in the last six months and had room 901 both times. Furnishings are somewhat dated. The desk had a big swoop in the middle, as if it had been exposed to water. Front of bathroom vanity was also water damaged.
Bed was comfortable. For some reason, we got passes for free appetizers at the bar or restaurant, so we were pleased with that perk.
Common areas are very nice, but the Starbucks needs longer hours OR the hotel should have coffee available during check-​in time.

Absolutely the worst! Staff was horrible. Rude and charged our account on 2^nd night of a three day stay. I’m sure they did that because we complained that no one had cleaned the room by 2pm and the phone didn’t work. The soda machines on three floors didn’t work either! When we got back to the room late we were locked out. Said the whole charge for the three nights didn’t go through. Had them rerun it and it went right through! Figured they were mad we complained! Would never ever stay there again!

Great beds-​great service! Love the breakfast service was awesome! This Hotel has easy access to everything near by. Nice big hotel with great service great rooms. Will definitely stay again.

Newer property met expectations and hotel staff excellent. Would stay again if traveling through area

Great place to stay and a good value for your money. Very close to a park and shopping areas. I would highly recommend this hotel to a friend and will be staying here in the future.

Perfect example of how one empolyee’s arrogance can spoil the whole experience. Just got back to the room after a long and tiring day, got into my night wear and look for some water, none to be found, house keeping did not replace the water bottles. Called front desk, told that we needed some water and the bottles werent replaced, Reply: «they are on the counter, come get them». I did get them but never will use your hotel again, good job growing your business.

TERRIBLE STAFF AND SERVICE
Our business group will never stay here again = we had a block of room on the executive floor so we could work. Dropped quite a bit of money for this for the following privileges:
Greeted rudely at front desk and when I was asked to provide a CC for my room I asked if my room was not listed under our group. Kenneth struggled with this for about 5 minutes until I finally gave up and said to please run my personal card for the room so I could drop my bags and get to my meeting. This person looked like an 18 yo kid and had all the intelligence of one. Zero sense of customer service and no offer of a cookie or water for me. Yet a few minutes before I had to wait for the couple in front of me to debate whether they wanted a cookie or water — really?
UNCLEANED ROOM:
Two days room service either didn’t clean my room (on second day they arrived close to 4pm). Really 4pm? I called downstairs to ask why this was and I got Kenneth again. He said they would be coming around. I said «Its kind of late — I am already back in my room from a days worth of meetings and ready to rest» His response was «well, we were sold out last night’. So i asked him if they usually never sell out and when he told me they sold out a lot I asked «so you are telling me that when you sell out your hotel is unable to clean rooms in a manner most customers have come to expect over the last 70 years plus.
EXECUTIVE BREAKFAST:
Quick one here: they put out a breakfast but if you want any juices or milk (rather than fake creamer) for your coffee you have to deal with a overly chatty lady behind a half door/​window. And SHE will pour the miik into your cup — she never put enough in and I finally gave up and left my coffee on the table cause the «mix» was wrong. Same with the juice — I got apple juice in a coffee sized cup which she filled half way up like I was 5 years old. (Three sips and it was gone)
I made 3 more trips for Apple Juice fill ups. Why put out a food buffet and hold back on a few items that will just annoy people and make it inconvenient,
THEY BOOKED A PARTY ON THE EXEC FLOOR AT NIGHT
On our last night before a big meeting the Executive floor was overrun with little girls playing and screaming up and down the hall. Slamming doors etc (basically having fun). After a while I went downstairs to discuss since all the parents of these kids were in the Executive Lounge (otherwised closed and locked for the night) drinking beers. All good mind you if they could keep things quiet. We had to be up at 3am for 5am flights.
I ended up with Kenneth at the front desk again and he said that he had seen they have booked a party for some Soccer or Tennis Girls league that was in town. I asked if that was the norm to do such a thing on the Executive Floor. He said he saw it on the books the other night and thought it was weird himself. He was going to talk to the «manager» = who was always in a back room and I never saw this person (if they really existed).
Either way the noise didn’t settle till around 11:30pm. I don’t know how you create a special floor and charge more for it then take advantage of your guests who are willing to pay extra for a room on an executive floor that the hotel then doubles for a money making party room.
FINAL COMPLAINT:
I reviewed all the issues This was Kenneths chance to try to make things right and I even mentioned the lack of politeness at check in or a cookie. He simply said — sorry things didn’t go well. He missed a super easy make-​better moment by not offering or sending up a cookie or two.
Called Corporate and they said they were really sorry and were calling the manager. They said the good part about this is that I was stll checked in for one more night and she could act on it while I was here… never heard from her.
I love Double Trees but think their ‘Heydays» came and went… they are now an old hotel that doesn’t care anymore. Nothing is forever.

Came here for an equestrian judging education seminar on a Saturday night, obviously not the night to arrive. For a business hotel that’s hard to find in an office complex across and next door to big hospital and healthcare center, it was literally full of small kids ! Turns out the fancy restaurant advertises a 4 for $ 49 family dinner on Fri/​Sat nights (don’t know what), with only $ 10 for each additional kid ! So the pool level was full of children in wet suits, as well as the lobby — I’ll bet there were 50 hungry and/​or wet children around everywhere.
That was the high point. Took us an hour to find from the airport because of the horrible directions. The room had no working phone (dead cordless and loose wire in phone on desk), very little coffee, and on Sunday morning, couldn’t watch basketball because only ABC didn’t work on the TV (channel 5 here). No one ever came to fix the phones (used our cells), and everyone acted clueless about the TV, about the same as the directions when we were lost. Parking and the road into the hotel are awkward or confusing.
We have three more nights in this hole, will add to this review as the list grows.

Very nice property. I facilitated a meeting here — catering was great, support staff were responsive. Can’t speak to the sleeping rooms as they were booked — had to stay five miles away.

Don’t waste your money! Cheap pillows, sub-​par bath products, dirty carpet (not completely vacuumed, and the a/​c turns to beat at 70 degrees — had to keep it at 62 to not heat up the room!
Very disappointed — not worth the Hilton Honors points, I should have stayed somewhere else and you should too!

The staff is very nice and tried hard to solve the issue with our very large group. However, they were not able to. Another group reserved and when it was time for them to check out they extended their stay. So our group that was supposed to be together was scattered. The other group was a large revenue generating group so they trumped us. It was upsetting for our group of 8 to 12 year old kids to be separated during our annual vacation. Won’t be back next year. I have to say staff members Tiffany and Jennifer were outstanding! So patient when trying to resolve!

Nice hotel with a very convenient location to the Cox Business Center. They have obviously refreshed the hotel and it was done well. The onsite restaurant was pretty solid and was a great place to relax and catch some sports while having a drink. The breakfast buffet left a lot to be desired, especially for the price.

Stayed at the Double Tree Hilton for three weeks. Had a double bed room facing the park.
Pros: The room was clean. The bathroom is nice with a large vanity. The front desk staff was always accommodating and offering water and cookies. They do have a complimentary shuttle. The park in the back of the hotel is very pretty and scenic and has a walking trail. Pretty nice for a walk or run. They did have a business center with 3 computers and a printer. In room movies available. I had a mini fridge and microwave available (not sure if that’s in every room)
Cons: The bathtub was peeling and just not in the best shape. The carpet in the halls needs repair. The pool/​sauna was out of order during the stay (BUT the hotel provided guest with a complimentary pass to a nearby gym, The HealthZone, which was realllly nice!!! Very glad I was able to attend that gym.) No safe in the room.

Returned in late Jan/​Feb 2014 for judges recertification. YEAAH, bellman Gus is still there. He greets, remembers your name, is ready to help. The hotel seems to have new management which was good. The rooms seemed a little updated, but they were always comfortable. Breakfast buffet is a winner. Only real issue was that it snowed the day of our departure & we really had to push to get a shuttle to the airport. The driver was good, careful & got us there. A favorite hotel!!!

The room LOOKED clean at first! The pool area is really nice! The pool is large and there is a sauna, steam room, pool, and a hot tub. This is actually the first hotel I’ve stayed at with a steam room and it was pretty intense, but nice. There is no free breakfast and when we asked how much it was we were told it was $ 16! Yea, I’m not paying $ 16 for some breakfast!
We decided to go find a vending machine, but was told that they did not have food vending machines. So, we went to the lounge and ordered some homemade chips and they took about 20 minutes to come out, but they were amazing! They came with a yummy dip too. The beds were really comfortable and when we woke up in the morning I went to make some coffee, I put my coffee pod in where it goes and I was about to fill up the water reservoir when I saw an old coffee pod inside of the water reservoir! I have no idea how long it had been in there but I was disgusted. I wonder if the people who used it last did that or maybe the people before them? If I would not have actually bent over and looked inside, I would have just poured the water in and made my coffee. I can’t believe that this was not cleaned and it makes me wonder what else is not cleaned here?
Something else that was in our room was a 4-​day-​old comment card left by other people.

It’s an old hotel, I stayed there for more than 12 times, i have experienced broken toilet, TV was not working when I checked-​in, trash can was not cleared, lotion or tea was not replace the next day, broken lamps… etc, poor service,
as for the cookie, I got it the first time I stayed there when I checked-​in, and I never got it anymore.

Friendly staff, free cookies at the front desk, a little chilly throughout the whole hotel, internet is incredibly slow.

I often come to Tulsa for work purposes and have been choosing to stay here over other hotels. Relative to other hotels in Tulsa, this Doubletree has great value. The breakfast starts early (6am), great selection, and tasty. Great fitness room and room service menu. Customer service is the real reason I choose to stay here over other hotels. The staff is always really friendly and welcoming. They make me feel very much at home, which is important to me because my trips here are typically a few weeks longs.
Décor getting a bit old, and internet is slow.

Risotto (they call it something fancy I can’t pronounce but if you ask for the risotto they know what your looking for)
So I’ve been here for a week and of all the entered I tried this was by far my favorite! It had 4 scalops, jumbo shrimp, calamari with sauté asparagad! Ohhh my… I imagine if I could taste heaven this is what it would be like. Even the dinner rolls I devoured! Mo my delightful server picked this for me… And he was a dream as well. A+!!
