History

Established in 2008.

For years, I had produced rectangular, steel shelters anchored above-​ground. This is now a ubiquitous design and for good reasons. However, I realized that more people could shelter-​in-​place if above-​ground shelters were less bulky in the garage, and if they were more affordable. So in 2008 I developed the New Day Tornado Shelter, which is a cylindrical steel shield, capped with a steel dome. This shape has many benefits including optimized space-​efficiency. This is now the only shelter that my company produces. Though it is not for every home, it brings much peace-​of-​mind to those who get one. Those who get one just love it. My background in commercial aviation structures has been useful in the aerodynamic aspect of this safe room design.
