Tulsa Fertility Center

My husband and I have tried to have a baby for over a year. I have PCOS. Our insurance will not cover fertility treatment, and we thought perhaps we might get a discount for paying out-​of-​pocket for procedures – we were wrong. We spent roughly $ 5,000 here for a month’s worth of timed intercourse (which involves a series of ultrasounds, visits, bloodwork, semen analysis, etc). Each ultrasound cost us $ 400. I thought surely they could give us a discount on ultrasounds – nope. For every couple paying $ 400 per ultrasound, I’m sure they have their ultrasound machines paid for, plus some. We were confused on the whole process – we had never given ourselves fertility injections, and no one really helped us through the process. We were kind of «on our own» so to speak, to just call and schedule more ultrasounds and bloodwork, etc. It was so frustrating to not have a doctor or nurse helping us or explaining things to us throughout the process. Dr. McKinney was our doctor – we met with her once, and that was it. She was a nice lady, but for as much as we paid the clinic, we thought she would atleast call or see us again. We were left to their fertility scheduling lady for the rest of the process. We felt isolated and alone, plus the financial burden drained our savings. Not to mention we didn’t get pregnant and drained our savings! I can’t believe they won’t offer discounts to cash-​paying customers. This is the type of place that just «takes your money and runs». They don’t know what customer-​service is! I called and asked the nurse to refill my prescription, and she acted irritated that I was calling her and that I put her out by having to call in a prescription! After spending $ 5,000 at their clinic, you would think they could call in a prescription for me! Do not go here. After we left Tulsa Fertility, we went to an out-​of-​state fertility clinic (Fort Worth Fertility), spent $ 800 total on an entire IUI procedure (all ultrasounds included in one discount price as well as the IUI itself included) and we got pregnant on our first try. I feel that Tulsa Fertility misleads patients by getting them to pay for timed intercourse sessions (which are a joke), when they should be pushing the IUI’s right away, so couples can get pregnant. Timed intercourse procedures for people like me are ridiculous when I cannot ovulate normally without a trigger shot! I feel bad for my Tulsa-​area friends, because there aren’t a lot of options as far as fertility docs and clinics in that area. Perhaps they can drive an extra hour and a half to go to one of the Oklahoma City fertility clinics or drive to Fort Worth Fertility. Please do not waste your time at Tulsa Fertility Clinic. It will drain your savings, and you will leave there poor and childless :(
