Fred Meyer One Stop Shopping

Well, Fred Meyer not only has a lousy selection of merchandise in Sporting Goods — but they have horrific (practically non-​existent) customer service.
I was trying to help a friend purchase her first pistol and there was absolutely no one in Sporting Goods to help. Waited well over an hour, and not a single person approached us. We couldn’t get anyone to help us in Sporting Goods, either: I don’t think we looked like lepers, and we were clean and well dressed, didn’t look like refugees or derelicts. We didn’t smell bad, our clothes are all in good repair, and we would have been ecstatic if the average grumpy Fred Meyer employee grudgingly waited on us.
Their selection of pistols was terrible. Only a few different models to select from, and most of those were wimpy little 9 mm pistols that absolutely no one would want.
If you don’t want to sell something, Fred, don’t stock it.
If you don’t want our business, Fred, don’t have any customer service.
In this case, two strikes — and you’re out.

When in the Olympia area this is my preferred FM location. The other one off Pacific Ave is an absolute nightmare, the parking lot is a little slice of hell and even checking out seems to take longer than most stores. This FM is almost always better on those counts.
Staff are friendly and polite and helpful. Produce is good with a nice selection of organic produce to choose from. I have had some requests for the meat/​seafood service area that they have always accommodated without hesitation. The center aisles are routinely well stocked and I really appreciate that they don’t block the aisles with free-​standing displays of merchandise very often. I am a fan of their multigrain rolls. For a while they were varying a lot in size (sometimes in the same bag) but they seem to have gotten that fixed.
Of course the usual caveats apply — its a grocery store, if you go after 4:30 pm until 8 pm it will be messy. That happens at almost every grocery store.
I also appreciate that it is adjacent to a Costco so you can run multiple errands in less time.
As to how FM compares to other stores in the area — there is an Albertsons across the street that seems to think they get to charge a premium price on items you can buy across the street for much less. A 59 cent can of cat food at FM goes for 75 or higher just across the street. And honey that Albertsons store has seen better days.

I live about 30 minutes from this store and rarely visit it but every time I do I am pleasantly surprised at what a great selection of EVERYTHING. Today i discovered they have a great nursery. I think I’m gonna start shopping here from now on for my garden stuff instead of Home Depot. They also have a great housewares furniture and décor section. And their selection of natural foods is awesome. I should shop here more.

I am new to the area so I’ve never heard of a Fred Myers before but now that I have I am very satisfied the employees are all Great staff, there always happy and very friendly, I will always come here to do my shopping when it’s time.

The store is greatly improved since the remodel. I really like how the produce is fresh and the stands are very clean. The natural food section has a great and varied selection. I prefer shopping at this store versus Albertsons because I can always pick up something I might need in the kitchen etc… The prices are great also.

Great store. Very similar to an ‘organic whole foods store’ but has more affordable options as well. Great wine, cheeses and bakery. I personally love the Fresh olive and salad bar.
Also offer hot foods ready to eat and Sushi too.
Some other departments include Jewelry, clothing, housewares.
I haven’t walked through the entire store, it is BIG!
Always great customer service.

I would give more stars because I love Fred Meyer… but their parking lot is HORRENDOUS. For this reason alone I prefer the Lacey Freddys. However, I live down the street from this one so I come here… terrible parking lot or not. I get it, there’s nothing they can do about it now, but it was incredibly poor planning. Anyway, more importantly, the store itself is larger than it looks on the outside and you really can get all your shopping done. I think the prices are comparable to Wal-Mart’s, considering EVERYTHING is much higher quality. Plus I love the rewards program. I spend enough that I always get fuel discounts AND a big coupon every couple months. You really can’t beat that. I do wish instead of Stargarbage they would feature some local coffee… maybe Batdorf and Bronsons, but it’s not a huge deal. I just get my coffee elsewhere before I go in to shop.
Overall, Freddy’s is great. Slightly more expensive than Wallyworld but far better quality and MORE, friendlier employees, but cheaper than Safeway (quality is same but far better rewards)

I had a problem with my insurance and Teresa in the pharmacy called my insurance and took care of it with no hassle! I wish there were more employees like her!

Slipped and fell on a seemingly dry floor today. Fell hard. Cell phone went flying qnd came apart in pieces. Purchases went flying. Feel much like I’ve been in an accident. Hurt hip elbow head neck shoulder knee and leg. Rather embarrassing. One employee asked if I was ok. Customers came over to help me pick up my belongings and the things I was going to purchase. I was in a great deal of shock and embarrassed of course. I called back to let a manager know after I got home (roughly 20 minutes) he wanted to know my birthdate including year. He wanted to know if I was wearing flip flops. He wanted to know if I tripped over my own feet. I told him no I slipped on your concrete floor and there was a crack in the floor where i slipped. I said it could have been a frwshly waxed floor because it was really slick. He said they dont wax thier floors. In fact ive seen them buff and wax them so he lied. I told him it should be on video. He said he would investigate and call ME if they needed anything else. He also told me to have a great evening. How is someone who fell that hard on concrete going to have a great evening?

Sure, a lot of things are overpriced. That’s what happens when you don’t shop at Wal-​Mart! Occasionally they have good deals. Where else can you buy an entire wardrobe, steak, booze, and a sofa at once? You can get doughssaints, Starbucks, and an ironing board. They have coupons on booze. I didn’t know that sort of thing was legal. When you go to Fred Meyers you feel you can buy anything you want to make life better. The more stuff I buy the more I save when buying gas. I would give it 5 stars but you have to pay for paper bags.

The employees need to crack down on selling alcohol to minors. I was standing behind two young people who were purchasing some alcohol, one manager overrode the age restriction without looking at both licenses. They seemed to be having troubles (this was at self checkout), so a male manager came over and asked for their licenses again, and the female was a minor. I don’t think the couple knew they were doing anything wrong and were very honest in admitting she was a minor, she looked young enough to be a sister. The manager was basically scolding them, voiding the alcohol after it had been approved by someone else. How confusing is that?
Long story short, if you’re going to enforce this law, do it right instead of leading a rodeo or harassing/​embarrassing people.

I’d have to agree with a lot of folks here. Most of the store is great, especially some cashiers and the pharmacy. But the deli is horrendous. It’s like they’re doing you a favor by simply being there. No smiles. I’ll get the prepackaged stuff or just go across the street to Albertsons from now on. Disappointing. Oh yeah, electronics department is top notch! Those guys are great.

This is a review if their deli. The deli personnel are consistently rude, slow in response and lacking customer service skills even at all. Since they put the boars head brand and we were excited to have this available. Unfortunately many trips we skip it because of the horrible service here

The store is okay, but the deli… Horrible! You can stand there forever, and even make eye contact and they still won’t wait on you. The proper thing to do would be to say «someone will be with you soon», or something to that affect to let you know you’ve been acknowledged. but no. Not at this deli. Plus, all of the hot case items look as if they’ve been there all day (I’m sure they have been). Dried out. Gross.

Prices are twice as expensive than what I can get in The Commissary. Fail. Never again.

Gotta love Freddie’s! However, parking lot chaotic and it’s always packed. I go to the grocery across the street often to avoid he crowds.

In comparison to many other locations (ie; Ballard, Seattle, Burien, Renton, Tacoma), this is the best FM I’ve stepped foot in.
It’s super clean, almost new feeling. Everything is neat, well kept, shelves are faced, produce is easy to find and figure out. I finally found a spaghetti squash here! Makes me über happy. Great prices on whole chickens and roast. Plus, the selection really was amazing. The pricing is mostly the same accross the board seeing as how it’s a franchise but the selection and quality here surpasses any other location I’ve frequented.
I truly wish this was my local FM.

I come to Fred Meyer for only one reason, because it’s close to my house. They have a huge selection of produce and wine, and their bakery is Uh-​mazing! (Try the village french bread). This place is a one-​stop shop which means they have everything from clothes to toothpaste. I think that their prices are on the expensive side, and their meat counter is the most pathetic one I’ve seen. Don’t come here for your christmas roast… or any roast. Overall I can spend hours here because it’s the size of a football field… maybe even bigger!
I heard that they might be putting in a gas station at this location in the next year which might give it another star.
