I love this store but lately they haven’t been checking the expiration dates on their items. FIFO(first in, first out). I’ve already returned one item a few months ago because it expired in October and tonight I came across my son’s baby food that expired a month ago. Check the expiration date on items before you buy from this store!

Three weeks in a row I had spoiled food and had to either go back for a refund or toss. The customer service and staff are always super friendly and helpful, and willingly refunded my purchases(plus a gift card, the last time). However, I am disappointed in the quality. I’m wondering if they need to check the temperature on the fridges and check their produce stock more regularly.

This stores bathroom was super gross when I have had to use it! I have a hard time making this store my neighborhood store just because of the cleanliness(or lack of) of the customers bathroom. Haven’t used in 6 months, maybe they cleaned it up???

Best Safeway in Olympia! Friendliest employees and great constantly improving selection! They always greet me with a smile! I am also impressed with how they have responded to the local communities’ desire for healthier, local, organic and non-GMO food products!

I feel a little odd writing a review of a Safeway store, but I really think this is one of the better supermarkets in the area. I’ve been to all of the other local Safeways, and this one seems the friendliest and the least crowded. I used to go to the store on Harrison quite a bit, and that one always seemed packed — as did the one in Hawk’s prairie. The Indian Summer store also gets really busy. I’m not sure why, but this store is a slower and more relaxing experience. I’m not big on grocery stores, and I want to get in and out fast. This one works for me.

Don’t get the chicken wings from the deli. Nasty and vile, taste like they were boiled in flavorless water and then very little seasoning is added afterwards. Gross. Don’t get reeled in by the $ 5 Friday deal… that was my downfall. Soup is decent.

Very helpful and friendly local grocery store. Always have what my family of 5 needs and they always go out of there way to help in our shopping needs.

WOW, what a difference! A new deli manager has really, really whipped it into outstanding shape.

I like this Safeway largely because it tends to be more convenient in my life. They are better than some, but not as good as the one in Hawk’s Prairie(but that’s so out of my way). The customer service is usually better here than any other Safeway in the area(the produce girl Shannara is especially sweet and helpful). Make sure to use the Safeway app on your smart phone for lots of additional savings.

Came in here looking for some stuff while I was visiting, and they didn’t seem to have any of the usual products that most other Safeway stores carry, and the prices for organic anything was really high. more like ridiculously high, compared to elsewhere. even other Safeway stores sell the same items cheaper! Bad selection, sad attempt to rip unsuspecting people off… and nothing looked very fresh either.

I love Safeway, but I avoid this store at all costs. The shelves are close together and are really tall, I can’t reach some things(and I’m 5’7). The flow of the store doesn’t make sense and so it is difficult to find specific things. I hate wondering around to find basic stuff! They don’t have a healthy food section, which bothers me bc the West Oly store has a HUGE selection of healthy foods. I think space is the issue here, and I just don’t like the selection, OR the prices.

First off let me start by saying I loved, key word loved as in past tense, this Safeway and had shopped here for 15 years. It is close to my house and I think the staff that works at this Safeway are very nice. They know my name, I know theirs, and I loved the customer service they provide. I did all of monthly shopping at this Safeway up until last week. Here is why I will never shop at this Safeway again. I shopped at this store because I truly felt it was a community store. I always see people I know, sit and have coffee at the store, and know the workers. But all of that is thrown out the window now. I simply asked if my 13 year old daughter and her friend who are saving money for a school trip next summer to be allowed to stand outside the door and sell fundraiser pizza cards for a day. The first manager I spoke to said it would be no problem for my daughter to fundraise the following Sunday. He asked that I call back the next day and confirm with the oncoming manager that she had not already scheduled someone. I called the next day and spoke to a very rude female manager who said I had to call public affairs. I told her that the previous manager said it was ok I jut needed to make sure with her. She told me to call Sara Osborne at Public Affairs in Seattle. I did so and Sara was curt, borderline rude and abrupt when I was asking her about fundraising. She asked me to fax in a request, which I did immediately and when I hadnt heard anything for almost a week I sent an email asking for a decision. She responded that my daughter would not be allowed to sell at the store because she wasnt a «non profit». I responded that for the many years I have shopped at this Safeway I have bought all kinds of things from kids that were not non profits and I felt it was unfair and asked her to reconsider. I never heard a peep back. No call, no response to email. ANDTHISISTHEIRPUBLICAFFAIRSOFFICE? After all the money I have spent at this Safeway and how much money I have put into charity and fundraising both store sponsored and private, my daughter is not allowed to have a crack at fundraising? IF they had a strict policy that they actually followed, I could understand, say ok and move on. BUTTHISISNTTHECASE. They obviously all had different interpretations of their fundraising rule. AND I know for fact that other people who are not«non profits» have fundraised at this store. I have bought stuff from them trying to help them out. Im done. Seriously. Either the manager from this store needs to get a backbone and say yes to local requests so they are not discriminating who they let fundraise or headquarters needs to make a solid and fair policy and stick to it, not just when it is convenient. They also need to get a different public affairs representative. If this is who is your front line, representing your store, you have problems. I hope allowing someone to stand outside and fundraise for a few hours was worth a shopper who spent A LOT of money at your store.

Gross gross gross. Today I bought some ground turkey. Mom and Pops wanted me to come home and make them some of my delicious turkey chili. No prob!. Except when the meat that’s marked Exp 4⁄11 turns out to be expired! Opened the package and almost puked. GROSSSSSSS I had to truck it all the way back to the store(like I don’t have other things to do??) and exchange it. No apologies or anything! The manager just shrugged and told me to get another one. Is this common practice or something? It’s not a problem unless you get caught? I had to sway the line between irritated customer and flaming psycho pissed off customer… rationality won out. I’ll be complaining to Safeway HQ. because this is just gross. I’ll drive out of my way in the future to shop elsewhere!

Wow. I wish there was an option to rate ZERO stars. They advertise their«friendly» service, but when my Aunt died suddenly and we were scrambling to figure out how to get to the out of state funeral they charged us for another entire day when we returned our rented carpet cleaner after the rental desk staff had left for the day. Never mind that a manager came over and could have checked it in and thus avoided another rental day fee. And were rude about it. They were the closest store to us so we have kept going there despite having purchased sub par groceries like moldy blueberries, bad olives, and corked wine. Lack of empathy is the last straw. I will really avoid shopping there again.

This is a pretty decent safeway. They have a good selection, well too much of a selection for me actually, but their prices are the same stupid standard safeway prices, where everything is expensive unless it’s on sale, then it’s just average. The bonus about this one is they have cool carts that aren’t huge and bulky and they’re fun to twirl around with. It’s also nice to see that there is more than one lane open so check out doesn’t take forever.
