The place is closed. Too bad the owner/former owner didn’t update their information to reflect the closing. When it was operating, it was one of the best in the country.

Bad news, the Willows has closed as of today. I called to line up a group outing and was informed that today was the last day of business. Sad as this place was awesome.

We saw a deal on range shooting on Groupon for this establishment and decided to give it a try. We drove down from Memphis to Tunica for a staycation and decided to start our morning with this activity. We had some difficulty finding the place and would recommend they improve signage to get there. If you feel like you’re driving in a random backwoods area and wonder if the road leads to anywhere, you are probably going the right way. Upon arrival, the woman at the front counter was very helpful in getting us started. She was very friendly and asked several questions about our level of experience(in this case, none) and how the process works. After we rented our guns and ammo we were met by a guide named Ray; a retired firefighter who has a lot of know-how about range shooting. Through each station, he would give detailed tips on how to shoot, load the gun, how to aim properly, and would tell us each time whether we were aiming too high, too low, or firing too early or too late. He was an exceptional teacher. He was also very friendly. We also found out that each station had their clays’ movements represent different animals’ movements, which was a cool concept. The Groupon was for 100 rounds each plus gun rental, but we only made it through 50; we wound up getting a voucher for the other 50 rounds so we could come back at a later time, and the rental on the guns the second time around would be free as well as a continuation of the Groupon. Overall we were very satisfied with our experience and look forward to going back within the next couple months!

I’m not a hunter or terribly outdoorsy but this place seems legit and as a novice I loved it. Since we were first timers we were set up with a guide to take us around and show us what to do. Think golf with guns. The course has 14 stations each one simulating a different animal and environment. We did 50 rounds which meant 7 stations, they get progressively harder so that was just fine with us, plus the recoil does make your shoulder sore. Ammo is 25 rounds a box for $ 7.50, very reasonable on pricing. I had a groupon so Im not sure on the gun rental and other costs individually but with no discounts 50 rounds would be $ 45 pp or $ 80 for 100 rounds. According to our guide Ray the are continually moving around the clay dispensing machines so the course doesn’t get boring. With a guide it took us 1 hr and 15 minutes to go through the 7 stations, I suspect it might be a little longer if your group is taking score and running the machines yourselves. We had a lot of fun and while this won’t be a regular weekend thing we will be back.

Got the groupon for this. We went on a Sunday morning. Being my first time shooting, or heck, even holding a gun, i was pretty nervous. But I wound up having lotsa fun, it was a great time! The staff is friendly and the guy(forgot his name) who drove us out to each station was very friendly and made me less nervous. This place is definitely well run. I loved the area too and I’m not usually the outdoorsy type. The only downside is the place is a lil hard to find.

Today was my second time to go shooting with buddies. Both times for birthdays and this time we brought the wives. Everyone had a great time even though we aren’t exactly marksmen. It’s nice to get out of the city for something different and even though I never took to hunting I really have enjoyed shooting clay targets.

I consider myself outdoorsy… I grew up riding horses, fishing, and playing sports. I really enjoy being outside. Unfortunately the older I have become, the more bugs give me the heebie-jeebies.(If bugs bother you, DON’T put yourself through this). There was WAY too many bees, wasps, and lady bugs. Did I mention I am not a lover of guns? If someone is handling guns around me, my palms get sweaty and I become tense. Why did I even go here? The entire way down there I was imagining a boring day of swatting bugs. Luckily, that’s not at all how it was! There are 4 people to a bad boy buggie, which is a camo golf cart with gun holders. They send you off on a trail and there are endless stations which skeet can be shot at. The skeet comes from all different directions at each location. The skeet releases with a press of a button. Even though I didn’t shoot a gun, I still had a blast watching everyone else do it. I just kept score in the buggie! It was so fun! It would be a GREAT father’s day, birthday, or christmas present for the man in your life!

The boyfriend and I tried skeet shooting a few months ago, so when a Groupon turned up, he was quick to buy one. The language on the Groupon(which, to be fair, is out of Willows’ control) was very confusing. What it boiled down to was that, for $ 63, we got 100 clays per person, and only ONE box of ammo — so to complete the course, we had to purchase 7MORE boxes of shells, at $ 7.50 a pop. So an afternoon excursion turned out to cost quite a bit more than we expected! However, our guide Ray was fantastic. He was happy to give us shooting advice, and told us bits of trivia about the course as we went from station to station(apparently the whole place was massively flooded a couple of years ago). The rental guns were in good working condition, and I was pretty fond of my over-under 20 gauge by the end of it! If you have a recoil pad, I’d bring it – we wished we’d thought to bring ours, since our shoulders are killing us today! Also bring hearing protection; we keep forgetting our ear muffs at home and the provided earplugs are much less comfortable. I don’t think we’ll be making regular trips out here, but it’s certainly a fun way to spend an afternoon.

Willows Sporting Clay and Hunting Center is part of the Harrah’s property in Tunica. They offer skeet and trap target shooting, and quail and duck hunting when in season. Three of us went for some target shooting. The prices vary depending on how many rounds you want to shoot and weather or not you will be using your own gun and ammunition. We brought our own ammunition and used their guns. Doing it this way saves a little money since you are not purchasing the ammunition at the club house. Player’s rewards can also be used if you have a player’s card with points. Harrah’s often sends us offers for free rounds and free gun rentals, so check your mailbox if you gamble at any of the Harrah’s Tunica properties. For sporting clays you can opt for 25, 50 or 100 rounds per person. The course is set up so that more rounds means more target stations. We decided to shoot 50 rounds which I believe includes 7 stations. I don’t shoot rifles very often, so I know I would have been very tired after 100 rounds. No matter how many rounds you choose to shot, they set you up with a guide who will drive you from station to station on a golf cart. The guide is very valuable for novice shooters and experienced shooters alike. Your guide will show you the path of the target before you start and even give pointers if desired. Our guide was very knowledgeable and his tips and advice helped out a lot. The guide also keeps track of each shooters score on a take-home card. We got a little competitive as we each tried to out do the other. At the end of 50 rounds we were satisfied that we had gotten our moneys worth out of the whole experience. Everyone had a good time and we are already planning on going back again in a few weeks. This would be a great place to introduce a child(or adult for that matter) to sport shooting. The staff is very professional and they make safety a priority. The grounds are beautiful and the equipment is top notch.
