Specialties
A neighborhood pub for our great eclectic neighborhood!
History
Established in 2007.
Since 1890 or so, there’s been a bar at 78 3rd St.
Originally built to house a hall for Societe St. Jean Baptiste on the second floor, the building has welcomed patrons on its first floor for drink, food, and entertainment for more than 120 years. All through prohibition we kept you wet. And in 1933, when the ban was lifted, we were first called the Rendezvous when the Saulnier brothers bought the place. (Actually only one of them was on the official deed; the other had been busted for rum running and kept his name off the books.)
These days, we’ve got a huge menu with interesting pub fare, a selection of 50+ beers, hundreds of alcohols from old crow to a wide selection of single malts and small batch bourbons. On the walls, art from local artists as well as vintage art from the 20’s cut from the original walls, not to mention artifacts from the 70’s when Fran Carme first bought the place and pictures of olé man Saulnier behind the bar with his bowtie.
