History

Established in 1980.

The St. Croix people, once known as «The Lost Tribe», are northern Wisconsin business leaders with a rich tradition and culture. Tribal bingo operations began in the 1980s. The tribe opened its first casino in Danbury in 1991. In 1992, they opened St. Croix Casino in Turtle Lake. Casino expansion and a 158-room hotel were completed in 1994. A casino/convenience store facility, Little Turtle Hertel Express, opened in 1996. The tribe expanded its gaming operations in 2010 with the opening of the new St. Croix Casino Danbury, a 50,000 sq. ft. casino, buffet restaurant, convention center and hotel. In 2010 the enterprise changed their casinos’ names to: St. Croix Casino Turtle Lake, St. Croix Casino Danbury and St. Croix Casino Hertel Express. The St. Croix Casinos are privileged to share their resources with their guests through gaming and lodging ventures as well as with multiple charitable and community organizations. «The Turtle Will Surprise You.»
