I absolutely loved this event! it was our first time participating… my 7 year old did the 5K with my husband and my 5 year old and I did the 1K. we loved it and we had so much fun… parking was easy… leaving the market place after the last race was a nightmare! but we’ll be back in 2016 maybe we’ll just park at a family members house who lives down the street and walk.

What a beautiful morning! Seriously, getting up early and slipping into my Nike’s before the sun comes up is one of my favorite parts of the day. Running a quick 10K as the sun peeks over the horizon makes me feel great, I swear! And at the Dino Dash, a run that directly benefits the Tustin Unified School District – its kids, its teachers, and its administrators – is my pleasure to be a part of. I was actually surprised to see so many runners in attendance. At 7:15am, 482 laced-up enthusiasts ran the 10K(I placed 320, thank you very much… I think) while 2504 runners took to the streets with their bad selves an hour later for the jam-packed 5K. That’s awesome! Running really seems to be catching on. That and the fact that these runs are for charity – and don’t forget the cool medals – are partly responsible for such great attendance. Getting in shape, feeling good about yourself, is on the rise. I got a new PR, by the way! Laugh if you want, but I finished my 10K(6.2 miles) at my fastest speed yet: 1:01:49.1. And the Dino Dash is an easy course to do just that. It begins at the Tustin Market Place, which is nice as it affords plenty of free parking for all, and winds around the surrounding areas. The number of vendors at the race were amazing as well: it was like a miniature fair. There were free Muscle Milks being passed around, and there were free massages as well! Tustin, keep it up! Can I just make a couple suggestions, however? I feel unappreciative about saying anything at all, but here goes: the medals, although very cool, would be even COOLER if there was a separate one for the 10k, as opposed to using the same for both races. And second… The stickers were not taken off the apples that were made available to runners after the race. Biting into them and having to remove stickers was not only a bit inconvenient, but it gave the impression – at least to me – that they were not washed. Other than that, see you again next year!
