Specialties
Learn 2 Read OC is a non-profit organization that provides students (ages 5 to adult) with one-on-one, intense, effective instruction in the areas of reading and spelling. The program is suitable for individuals who learn differently due to dyslexia, specific learning disability, language processing, or are behind in reading and spelling.
History
Established in 2014.
Learn 2 Read OC became part of California Youth Services, a non-profit in the business of helping people, in September of 2014. Before that, it was an idea from a teacher whose son struggles with dyslexia. In an effort to find a low cost option to help her son, she discovered that there are limited affordable resources in the OC. Therefore, she developed this literacy program to reach those 20% of our population that have some degree of dyslexia. One of CYS’ goals is to offer prevention services in Orange County. Given that literacy is a powerful tool that prevents future societal problems, such as crime, substance abuse, poverty, etc., the L2ROC program is an appropriate match to maintain CYS’ mission.

Kelly S.
Manager
Kelly discovered her son has dyslexia. Not only did she learn that there are 1 in 5 people in the world with the same learning difference, but she was baffled to find that there are very limited, affordable resources and support for this type of learning difference in Orange County. Therefore, she started a low-cost tutoring program, Learn 2 Read Orange County.
